Chapter 231 Arranging the Surgery

Despite lingering doubts, no further words were spoken.

However, to prevent any unexpected situations, Li Yu decided to stay at the hospital.

After one night.

The next morning, Li Yu and the others found Nurse Zhang again.

Li Yu didn't even need to ask; Nurse Zhang knew why she had come and led the group to an observation room with practiced ease.

"Family members, you can come closer to watch," Nurse Zhang said casually, pointing to a monitor.

When she turned on the monitor, the image of the baby appeared on the screen.

Li Yu looked at the monitor, where a baby was lying motionless in an incubator, seemingly without any abnormalities.

"How is the child now?" Li Yu suddenly asked, her eyes fixed on the nurse.

Nurse Zhang's heart tightened suddenly, and she quickly responded:

"The child seems to be in relatively stable condition so far, but since it is a congenital disease, we need to continue to observe him for a few more days. But don't worry, we will do our best to treat him."

Although she couldn't tell anything from the nurse's expression, Li Yu was still a little worried.

He glanced at the baby on the screen again and made a decision in his heart.

He will stay at the hospital to closely monitor the baby's condition until the baby fully recovers.

Nurse Zhang began to feel uneasy; she realized that Li Yu was starting to have doubts about the hospital.

She stared nervously at Li Yu, her mind racing as she considered what to do next.

She had to inform the director of this situation so that everyone could take immediate action and the refugee families could not be allowed to continue their investigation.

Thinking of this, Nurse Zhang looked up at the wall clock and calmly said to Li Yu and the others:

"Family members, the designated visiting time has arrived."

Ma Yuanbai retorted somewhat discontentedly, "We're just watching through the surveillance cameras! Does that even need to be timed? That doesn't seem reasonable."

Faced with the questioning, the nurse patiently explained, "Yes, watching the surveillance footage is also considered part of the visit. Please cooperate with our work, after all, everything is for the child's safety."

"Such a thing is true..." Ma Yuanbai looked displeased.

Although Li Yu nodded in understanding, she became even more wary.

After Li Yu and the others left the observation room, Nurse Zhang ran straight to the director's office. As soon as she pushed open the door, she couldn't help but shout:

"Director Hua! Something terrible has happened."

Director Hua, sitting at his desk, was startled and immediately asked:

"What happened? Is something wrong with the baby? Don't worry, tell me slowly."

Director Hua's voice trembled involuntarily, as if he was afraid of hearing some bad news.

They finally had the chance to go to Jincheng, and they absolutely couldn't let it be interfered with or sabotaged.

Nurse Zhang quickly said:

"The baby's family is now starting to have doubts, and it seems they want to see the baby with their own eyes."

Upon hearing that the news came from the families of those displaced people, Director Hua was relieved and chuckled lightly, replying nonchalantly:

"Doubt? What's the use of doubt?"

"They're just insignificant vagrants. Even if we have some doubts, how could they possibly cause any big trouble?"

Nurse Zhang felt uneasy thinking about Li Yu's questioning gaze, but still couldn't help but whisper her suggestion:

"Director Hua, how about we find another baby and replace this one that was a match?"

After the nurse finished speaking, she quickly added:

"Anyway, those refugees have never seen what a baby looks like. Even if we give them a different child, they probably won't be able to tell the difference."

"Change?!"

To everyone's surprise, Director Hua's expression darkened upon hearing this, and he immediately rebuked her:

"You make it sound so easy. Where are we going to find a baby to swap with? Everyone who comes here to give birth is a big shot in Wucheng. Who do you dare to swap with?"

After being reprimanded by Director Hua, Nurse Zhang realized that this was not a solution.

But for some reason, she had a strong feeling that those refugees were not easy to deal with.

Seeing the nurse's nervousness, Director Hua unexpectedly stepped forward and reassured her with a smile:

"Xiao Zhang, don't be in such a hurry. Think about it for a moment and find an excuse to delay for a couple more days."

As she spoke, she gently patted Nurse Zhang's shoulder, as if everything was under her control.

"They're just a bunch of refugees. Don't waste your energy on them. Remember, we're working for the General of Zhongzhou."

Seeing that the head doctor disagreed with using an infant as a replacement, Nurse Zhang could only nod helplessly.

"I see..."

Just as the two were talking, a doctor rushed in looking flustered:

"Director Hua, General Zhongzhou has already sent people to collect the baby."

"Great, you've come just in time!" Director Hua said with a smile.

Seeing this, Nurse Zhang finally breathed a sigh of relief. She really couldn't delay any longer; it was more important to finish this matter as soon as possible and go to Jincheng.

Immediately afterwards, Director Hua began to personally take charge:

"Dr. Zhang, please send the baby to the general's men immediately."

"Understood." Dr. Zhang turned and left.

After giving the instructions, Director Hua looked at Nurse Zhang:

"Xiao Zhang, go and notify the families of those refugees immediately. Tell them that the baby has suddenly developed breathing difficulties and the situation is extremely urgent. Surgery is necessary to save the baby."

At this point, Director Hua couldn't help but grin:

"If a major surgery takes until tomorrow, the refugees will probably thank us."
