Li Yu kept recalling the words and knowledge that Ma Yuanbai had mentioned on the way.
It now seems that he must rely on his own strength, along with the empty title of "Hero of Zhongzhou," to continuously improve his status and position.
Only if things continue like this will he perhaps have a chance to confront a general from Zhongzhou in the future.
In the heavy rain, Sun Chengyu flew past quickly, and Xiao Hei below also ran wildly away.
Two figures flashed past like shooting stars, one above and one below, moving at an extremely fast speed.
As Sun Chengyu flew at full speed, he was surprised to find that the black horse below could still keep up.
So he maintained high-speed flight, trying to get Li Yu to the base as soon as possible.
Half a day later, Xiao Hei's speed suddenly slowed down.
Li Yu looked up and saw a towering mountain in the distance, standing out prominently on this vast plain.
In the rain ahead, a tall wire mesh appeared as a barrier, stretching far into the distance, with many awakened individuals patrolling the area.
Sun Chengyu then slowly descended from the air, slightly out of breath, and spoke to Li Yu:
"We've arrived at Xiling Base. This is the place that our Thunder Bureau specifically set up."
Li Yu was somewhat puzzled; he didn't yet understand the deeper meaning behind Sun Chengyu's words.
Sun Chengyu didn't explain much, but simply made a gesture for Li Yu to follow, and then led Li Yu directly towards the base entrance.
Upon arriving at the base entrance, Sun Chengyu revealed his identity, and the two smoothly passed through several gates, successfully entering the base.
However, during the verification process, the staff member responsible for checking identities never took his eyes off Li Yu's dark horse.
He knew Sun Chengyu's speed perfectly; how could this horse keep up?
However, no matter how the staff member looked at it, apart from appearing more robust and obese than ordinary horses, this black horse was really no different from an ordinary horse.
Entering the passage, Li Yu dismounted and followed behind Sun Chengyu.
The moment he stepped inside the base, the entire rain curtain outside was suddenly distorted by some kind of force field, and then instantly returned to normal.
Li Yu felt the scene before him change drastically, and then a steel city appeared before him.
He was immediately filled with surprise. He had never seen such a secretive method before, and he couldn't help but marvel at the Thunder Bureau's superb skills.
Looking up, the Xiling Base in front of me resembled a towering steel mountain cleaving the sky.
Li Yu seemed to notice something strange about the steel mountain, so he activated his Triple Eyes to take a closer look.
Immediately afterwards, his pupils contracted sharply.
The rain fell thick and fast, and in the hazy mist, a colossal object quietly emerged.
A massive pulse cannon, partially concealed by camouflage, stood silently atop the steel mountain, like a beast that had been lying in wait for a long time and was about to launch a deadly attack.
The extremely thick cannon barrel pointed straight north, proclaiming its power.
A faint blue and a fiery red light flickered inside the cannon barrel, alternating constantly.
The oppressive aura emanating from the cannon seemed capable of devouring any invading enemy.
If he hadn't looked closely, he wouldn't have even noticed the giant pulse cannon right in front of him.
This was the first time Li Yu had ever felt such a strong threat from the cold steel.
Sun Chengyu, standing beside him, was not surprised to see Li Yu's shock. Instead, he looked at the pulse cannon with a proud expression.
He still remembered the first time he saw the pulse cannon; he was so shocked by it that he was speechless, and his reaction was much more intense than Li Yu's now.
Just then, a commotion of voices suddenly arose in front of the base.
Several guards escorted a tall, thin man who strode forward, shouting something as he walked.
"She's here?! Is it really Li Yu?"
Upon seeing the other person approaching, Sun Chengyu quickly bowed to the tall, thin man and said:
"Judge Ma."
Judge Ma nodded slightly to Sun Chengyu, his gaze quickly locking onto Li Yu.
Immediately afterwards, he grabbed Li Yu's arm and said excitedly:
"As expected of the hero Li Yu! You arrived just in time!"
Judge Ma's excitement was palpable, and it didn't seem like he was faking it, because he himself hadn't expected Li Yu to come.
It should be noted that the Thunder Bureau has established several pulse cannon bases in Zhongzhou, and no one knows Li Yu's exact location.
All of their base managers in Thunder Bureau had already received the news:
If Li Yu is successfully invited, she will be assigned to the nearest base and the pulse cannon will be activated.
Judge Ma never expected that Li Yu would happen to be relatively close to his Xiling base, and that she would arrive at such a crucial moment.
This made him sigh inwardly, "It's truly a blessing from our ancestors, Old Ma!"
Everyone knew perfectly well that whichever base Li Yu went to, that base could immediately activate the pulse cannon and carry out a rare mission to annihilate the enemy.
It's important to know that pulse cannons consume a huge amount of energy, which is one of the reasons why the Central Plains government doesn't plan to continue investing in them.
Faced with Judge Ma's kindness, Li Yu immediately recalled the Central Plains etiquette that Ma Yuanbai had repeatedly mentioned to him.
Li Yu also politely cupped his hands in greeting:
"Judge Ma."
Judge Ma chuckled and patted Li Yu's arm, saying, "Oh dear, let's not be so formal. Just call me Ma Hao."
He knew Li Yu's reputation, and for their Thunder Bureau to use such a grand gesture to recruit him, Li Yu couldn't possibly be an ordinary person.
Now, the perfect opportunity to wipe out the restless Fire-Speaking Clan is right in front of him, and Ma Hao is already impatient and can hardly contain his emotions.
