The Nightmare Beast abruptly changed the subject, also looking south as it said:
"There's definitely something strange about that firelight on the horizon. Maybe there's some treasure waiting for you! Don't regret it if you miss it!"
Li Yu moved the crossbow away: "Baby? I think it's more like danger. Don't think you can get away with changing the subject."
The Nightmare Beast said urgently, "I have no reason to lie to you. Think about it carefully. This spark you're talking about is so peculiar; it must be something extraordinary."
"Besides heading south, do you have any other choice? If you hesitate any longer, this spark might burn you to ashes."
Li Yu remained silent for a moment, weighing the pros and cons in her mind.
He glanced at the Nightmare Beast, whose eyes were darting around, and knew that the Nightmare Beast was definitely hiding something, but what it said also made some sense.
Suddenly, a strong tremor came from the ground, and the entire Central Plains trembled.
"Another earthquake."
Li Yu gripped Xiao Hei tightly and shook it slightly.
He could clearly sense that this earthquake was very similar to the one that occurred after Lei Xiao was left alone; it was a widespread earthquake that did not cause any substantial damage.
This feeling is as if the earth is sending a special message to everyone.
Li Yu quickly recalled what had happened before in her mind:
At that time, Lei Xiao must have discovered something in the giant stone forest, which is why he deliberately lured the rest of them away.
No sooner had they left than a violent earthquake struck the direction where Lei Xiao was, one that was remarkably similar to the one that had just occurred.
It might really be a sign of some kind of treasure appearing, just as the Nightmare Beast said.
Moreover, Li Yu could no longer endure the burning sensation in his abdomen. He had no better option than to continue south, so he gritted his teeth and said to the Nightmare Beast:
"Alright, I'll trust you this once and go see what kind of treasure that firelight is."
After saying that, Li Yu rode Little Black and sped off again toward the mysterious fire in the southern sky.
Along the way, the temperature rose higher and higher, and the surrounding air seemed to be on fire, occasionally making a sizzling sound, like oil being roasted by a raging fire.
The rain that fell from the sky became incredibly hot, and when it landed on my skin, it felt like I was being burned.
The rainwater that had gathered on the ground was constantly emitting white steam, making the place seem like a giant steamer.
Li Yu and Xiao Hei were both drenched in sweat from the heat. Wearing raincoats and waterproof cloths would only make them hotter, as rain and sweat had already soaked through their fur and clothes.
If Li Yu hadn't been tempting Xiao Hei with crystal cores every now and then, this lazy fellow probably wouldn't have wanted to move forward another step.
The firelight grew closer and clearer.
Just as Li Yu was about to reach the area directly beneath the mysterious firelight.
"Whoosh."
Suddenly, a long spear shot through the air like a meteor, carrying a fierce momentum, and went straight for Li Yu.
Li Yu reacted quickly, suddenly reaching out her hand.
With his sheer physical strength, he firmly caught the incoming spear.
Facing the gun tip so close at hand, Li Yu remained completely calm.
The powerful impact from the spear made his arm go slightly numb, indicating that this person was quite skilled.
Li Yu gripped the spear, restraining Xiao Hei, and looked up coldly in the direction from which the spear had come.
In the distance, amidst the sweltering heat, a figure could be vaguely seen standing.
The man's clothes were extremely peculiar, with vibrant colors, as if they were spray-painted, making him stand out from his surroundings as if he were in a completely different space.
The heatwave and the scorching heat, coupled with the other party's deliberate concealment of its presence, meant that Li Yu hadn't even noticed its existence.
Li Yu was about to question whether the Nightmare Beast was truly blind, unable to see such an obvious sneak attack.
But he discovered that the Nightmare Beast had already sunk into his mental sea, silent and still.
Seeing that Li Yu was still alive, a hint of surprise flashed in the man's eyes. He then conjured another long spear out of thin air and slowly walked over from a distance.
"Who are you?" Li Yu asked.
He was suddenly attacked without any reason, and his voice was full of coldness. He pointed his crossbow at the other party, as if he wanted to give that person one last chance to explain.
"Hmph." The man sneered, "Who I am is not important. What is important is that this Dragon Vein Land is not a place you can come to."
"If you know what's good for you, leave now, or don't blame me for being impolite."
"Dragon Vein?" Li Yu wondered.
He had also heard from the stories told by the refugees that the ancients highly valued feng shui and dragon veins, and could speak eloquently about every mountain and river on the earth.
But as he walked along, he didn't find any signs of mountains or water in the surrounding area, so where did this dragon vein come from?
Suddenly, the spark in Li Yu's abdomen stirred violently, as if it were being drawn by some powerful force.
Li Yu seemed to sense something and immediately looked up.
A burst of firelight illuminated the dark clouds, resembling a fiery dragon meandering and swimming freely through the sea of clouds.
The entire black cloud shimmered with a reddish-gold light under the firelight.
The flames gradually coalesced into the shape of a dragon, with distinct and lifelike scales.
The clouds churned wildly, creating a strange sense of depth under the glow of the crimson-gold light.
Soon, the flames in the sky completely condensed into a fire dragon, as if it would break through the clouds at any moment and soar into the heavens.
The fire dragon brought Li Yu not only a visual shock, but also a deep stirring in his soul.
The sparks in its abdomen trembled, as if echoing the fire dragon from afar.
"This...this is the dragon vein?" Li Yu murmured to himself, his eyes filled with disbelief.
