Chapter 381 Pledge of Loyalty

With a wave of his hand, Ying Tong saw another group of fully armed ancient undead soldiers rush out from the blood-red scroll like hungry tigers pouncing on their prey, their momentum fierce and their killing intent surging.

"Kill!" The shouts of killing rang out again in unison.

On the ground, countless chains formed from blood-red pigment rushed out and bound Li Yu's feet, firmly controlling him in place.

"This is unnecessary." Li Yu curled his lip; he had no intention of moving it at all.

Seeing that the assassin only had this much strength, he was actually a little disappointed.

The arrows that were originally floating behind him, ready to meet the opponent's ultimate trump card, have now all been put back into the quiver by Li Yu.

The phoenix bow in his hand was instantly ignited, flames roared, and Li Yu drew the string again.

The movements were fluid and seamless; he would give the assassin a quick and painless death.

"Whoosh—!"

The burning arrows flew out again, and the second batch of ancient soldier spirits were also annihilated by a single arrow.

"Don't waste your time, these soldiers are all ghosts in the painting, you can't kill them all!" Ying Tong laughed wildly.

Under his control, the surrounding city walls began to squeeze inward, and the entire space continued to shrink, like a cage that was slowly getting smaller.

Ying Tong was now certain of her victory, because soon the third batch of undead soldiers would rush out of the painting, and the space within the painting would shrink again.

Then there will be a fourth batch, a fifth batch, and so on.

At that point, having completely lost his distance advantage, even as a god of archery, Li Yu would be overwhelmed by the undead rushing towards him.

Just as Ying Tong was feeling smug, she heard Li Yu across from her slowly speak:

"Who said I was going to kill them?"

"You!" Ying Tong's expression changed drastically, and she hurriedly looked up.

The arrow, its tail ablaze with flames and trailing a long crimson streak, suddenly and strangely changed angle, like a firebird, heading straight for the enormous scroll in the center of the blood-red city.

"boom--"

The scroll exploded with a deafening roar, and the undead soldiers who had just charged out instantly turned into red specks of light and vanished.

Shadow Eyes staggered backward as if struck by a severe blow:

"My painting..."

After the attack, the Phoenix Bow in Li Yu's hand went out. He silently slung the bow behind his back and calmly stared at Ying Tong, as if the battle before him was over.

Seeing Li Yu's confident demeanor, Ying Tong suddenly burst into maniacal laughter, and the cat's eye stone in her left eye emitted an eerie light.

"Haha, you think you've won already?"

"How naive!"

Ying Tong's expression hardened, a ruthless glint flashing in his eyes:

"The painting is merely my weapon; the real battle has only just begun!"

The surrounding city walls shrank and contracted again, and Ying Tong's body gradually turned into a mural. A strange smile suddenly appeared on his lips as he said disdainfully to Li Yu:

"You stared at me for so long just now, you probably haven't realized that you've fallen into a hallucination yet."

Ying Tong smiled and retreated step by step towards the city wall:

"What you just destroyed was merely an illusion within an illusion!"

"Look around you, you're still inside the painting!"

"Hahaha—this is the real kill within the painting!"

The mural of Shadow Pupil appeared and disappeared in front of the city wall, and his whole body was about to blend into the city wall.

Upon hearing this, Li Yu instead gave a mocking smile:

"You mean I'm hallucinating?"

Seeing Li Yu's completely unperturbed expression, Ying Tong was immediately startled, and an ominous premonition welled up in her heart.

Suddenly, Li Yu's eyes became like black holes, completely engulfing the chains binding her feet. Then, she looked at Ying Tong and said disdainfully:

"You should look at yourself first."

The smile on Ying Tong's face suddenly vanished, and a sharp pain exploded in his chest, as if a sharp blade had pierced his heart.

He lowered his head in disbelief. He didn't know when, but an arrow had pierced his chest, and flames were still burning his blood from the flesh.

"This is impossible...this is clearly my painting!" Ying Tong exclaimed in disbelief, her voice trembling.

"You're clearly not a spiritual awakener..."

Ying Tong frantically activated the cat's eye stone, only to find that the cat's eye gem in his left eye was cracking, as if announcing his complete defeat.

"No!" Ying Tong's expression suddenly turned ferocious as she stared intently at Li Yu:

"We'll die together!"

He suddenly ripped open his shirt, revealing another blood-red cat's-eye stone embedded in the center of his chest.

With the energy injected into the Shadow Eye, the red cat's eye stone emitted an eerie red light, gathering destruction.

Ying Tong grinned wickedly at the unsuspecting Li Yu, and shouted wildly:

"The painting explodes——!"

The entire blood-red city suddenly contracted violently, the space was compressed to the extreme, and then it expanded violently. The power in the cat's eye stone was like a volcanic eruption, threatening to destroy everything in front of it.

"boom!"

The space trembled, and the entire painting shattered like a broken mirror, with countless fragments flying everywhere. Undead and ghostly spirits surged out, howling and screaming, as if the end of the world had arrived.

"Let's die together! Hahaha..." Shadow Pupil laughed wildly.

He had completely lost his mind and was trying to take Li Yu down with him.

The world in the painting instantly exploded; the violent power within the cat's eye stone shattered everything inside, including Li Yu and himself.

Everything fell silent.

Suddenly, a playful voice rang out in the already exploded space within the painting:

"Little guy, do you think you're the only one who can play with mental illusions?"

Ying Tong's laughter stopped abruptly:

"I'm not dead?"

When he came to his senses, he was surprised to find that he had been standing still the whole time, and the painting explosion seemed to have never happened.
