The rain poured down, turning the world into a vast expanse of gray.
The rain continued its relentless assault on the Central Plains, showing no sign of stopping.
As the Seventh Regiment marched, they suddenly noticed a change in their surroundings. A faint white mist began to spread, constantly compressing the visible area.
A sudden gust of cold wind swept by, but the white mist, which should have been easily dispersed, remained completely unaffected. After the wind carried away a wisp of mist, other wisps of white mist instantly filled the gap.
Seeing the increasingly familiar white mist that was difficult to dispel, Li Yu immediately became alert.
He blinked silently, and the Triple Soul-Devouring Eyes activated without a sound. A faint white light flowed deep within his pupils, and his sharp gaze pierced through layers of rain and fog, carefully scanning his surroundings.
The next second, Li Yu's pupils contracted slightly.
As far as the eye can see, it is not a desolate wasteland!
Deep within the seemingly harmless, swirling white fog lurks countless bizarre spiders that send chills down your spine!
This was a type of spider he had never seen before; there were so many of them, they were densely packed together!
The smaller ones were only the size of a fist, appearing and disappearing in the mist;
The largest one was as big as an adult, perched on the rock like a white ghost!
Moreover, these spiders are covered with a layer of fine, frosty white hairs, making them entirely white.
The white color not only blends perfectly with the mist, but also allows rainwater to slide off the skin without getting wet.
They stood motionless in the white mist, like frozen sculptures, seemingly waiting for some kind of prey to take the bait, or as if they were collectively listening to some kind of command.
If it weren't for the keen observation of the Triple Eye, this camouflage that blends seamlessly into the environment, combined with absolute stillness, would be almost impossible to detect.
Just then, Li Yu noticed an unusual energy fluctuation.
In the shadow of a huge rock, a giant white spider, far larger than its kind, stood upside down like a white phantom.
Noticing Li Yu's gaze, the giant spider's two rows of eyes on its head turned simultaneously, their gazes piercing through the rain and mist, locking onto Li Yu!
This strange eye contact was absolutely bizarre.
"Spiders... they even have a leader." Li Yu thought to himself with a chill.
No wonder this thirteenth city has become a ghost town. Not only is it located in a remote area, but the outer area covered by white mist is also infested with such a large number of spiders.
For ordinary people, even if they really wanted to go to the ghost town, it would be nothing short of a pipe dream to arrive safely.
However, what puzzled Li Yu was that these white spiders, which should have been deadly predators, showed an inexplicable indifference towards them, these foreign invaders!
Even though some members of the group nearly stepped on the lurking spiders or even walked past the large spiders, the spiders did not target them and remained motionless.
Just then, Ma Yuanbai behind him suddenly spoke up to remind him:
“The road is shrouded in white fog, and ghostly figures loom about. It seems we’re not far from the ghost town.” His voice sounded somewhat faint in the thick fog.
Li Yu then withdrew her gaze and slowly nodded.
Everything here matches perfectly with the description of the ghost city's outer perimeter that Li Yang had given it.
Just as the Seventh Regiment was speeding up its advance, Li Yu pointed to the approximate location of the giant spider ahead and suddenly spoke:
"Avoid the area around that giant rock."
Without hesitation, the members of the Seventh Regiment behind him immediately followed Li Yu's instructions and went around the area.
The group gradually avoided the pale, gigantic shadow lurking in the fog.
Those eerie spider eyes gleamed in the mist, as if watching their every move.
Just when Li Yu thought everything was going smoothly and he was about to leave this area full of spider territory...
"rustle--"
A very clear scraping sound rang out without warning in the silent, thick fog!
The marching column paused, instantly becoming alert.
"What's that sound?" someone asked quietly, feeling uneasy.
Looking around, all that could be seen was a vast expanse of white, and nothing could be clearly seen.
"I don't know, everyone be careful." Ma Yuanbai's eyes were wary.
"Spiders! They're moving!" A sharp-eyed Awakened pointed into the depths of the fog and exclaimed in shock!
Within the white mist, countless white spiders that had been still suddenly began to move rapidly, their legs like sharp knives, carving marks on the ground.
When one moves, everything moves; when one stops, everything stops.
The spiders' almost synchronized movements were as if they were being directed, and that chilling hissing sound was the source of it!
"Alert! Form defensive formations and coordinate your actions!" Ma Yuanbai shouted sternly, and the Seventh Regiment immediately set up a defensive formation.
Just when he thought the spider swarm was about to attack, the surroundings fell silent again.
After waiting for a long time, the group of spiders just moved rhythmically, seemingly without any intention of attacking.
Suddenly, the giant spider leader hanging upside down moved!
It slid silently down from the shadow of the rock, its eight slender legs moving with astonishing speed, yet with an eerie elegance.
Its massive body pierced through the thick fog and headed straight for the Seventh Group!
Those two rows of scarlet compound eyes were fixed intently on Li Yu, as if they had discovered some treasure.
Seeing this, Li Yu also looked helpless. She originally wanted to avoid trouble, but the spider came to her door on its own.
Perhaps this is the spider's destiny.
Just as he picked up the Phoenix Bow, about to nock the bowstring and fire.
"Li Yu?"
A clear, crisp female voice suddenly rang out in Li Yu's mind.
"Holy crap!" The Nightmare Beast woke up instantly, startled like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.
