Chapter 806 Turning Faces Faster Than Turning a Book

In contrast, the faces of the refugees who had just made their vows were suddenly bursting with ecstasy and hope!

"We...we're really saved?"

"The Longevity Sect! It was the Longevity Sect that took us in!"

"Waaah... I'll never go hungry again!"

Some of the refugees were so moved that they knelt down with a thud, tears streaming down their faces, and kowtowed repeatedly in the direction of Teacher Han, their voices choked with gratitude:

"Thank you, Teacher Han! Thank you for the immense kindness of the Longevity Sect! I... I will do anything to repay this enormous debt of gratitude!"

Other refugees seemed to be infected as well, following suit, kneeling down in droves, their mouths full of humble yet fervent words of gratitude.

Many refugees embraced and wept, as if they had truly stepped into the threshold of paradise.

Warm shelter, ample food, and a safe environment.

This sudden "gift" made them feel that all the previous suffering was worthwhile.

They were sincerely grateful to the "kind" Teacher Han in front of them, and to the Changshengmen sect for generously taking them in.

The noise made Teacher Han frown and shout angrily:

"Enough! Shut up, all of you! Be quiet!"

Her voice suddenly turned cold, silencing the chaotic murmurs of gratitude in the room. The last vestige of feigned patience vanished from her face, and she said with annoyance:

"You bunch of idiots, don't think you can just eat and stay for free by talking. There's no such thing as a free lunch!"

"Since you have received such a favor, how can you not pay a price! The things that the Longevity Sect has given you will be repaid with your lives and blood, with interest, sooner or later."

Teacher Han's voice was icy cold as she glanced at the bewildered refugees still kneeling on the ground, their faces streaked with tears.

At this moment, in her eyes, these were no longer people, but a group of livestock that were still breathing and waiting to be slaughtered.

She stopped looking at the group of disheveled vagrants, her tone becoming businesslike, and turned to give orders to those beside her:

"Stop wasting time, get to work."

"Go, pick out a few of the healthiest and most vigorous ones to take back. There are some distinguished 'guests' waiting."

She then pointed precisely to several refugees:

"Then let's deal with those lowly people who didn't swear an oath first, and replenish the 'blood pool'."

"You dare to try and outsmart me? Do you really think we're a charity?"

As soon as Teacher Han finished speaking these undisguisedly fierce words, the faces of the refugees kneeling in the front row turned deathly pale, and the warmth that had just welled up in their hearts was replaced by a bone-chilling cold.

They looked up and saw a group of awakened individuals with malicious smiles surrounding them.

For a moment, the refugees were all stunned, seemingly still reeling from Teacher Han's change of words, and completely unable to understand the meaning of her "replenishing the blood pool".

“Teacher Han…you…” one of the refugees instinctively tried to ask.

Before he could finish speaking, there was a loud "smack!"

One of the guards standing next to Teacher Han impatiently lashed out with his whip! His eyes were full of ruthlessness.

"Ah—!" The refugee was whipped to the ground.

The excruciating pain forced him to swallow his words.

Seeing the other party suddenly tear off their mask of hypocrisy, the refugees were jolted awake from their brief euphoria.

They then realized that perhaps the "paradise" they had just experienced was nothing more than a hell disguised in sugar.

"Hurry up!" Teacher Han urged coldly.

"yes!"

After receiving the order, the guards from the Changsheng Sect beside him grinned maliciously and strode into the numb crowd.

With sharp eyes, they quickly picked out the refugees who still seemed to have some strength, roughly grabbed them by the hair, and dragged them out of the crowd, completely ignoring the refugees' cries and struggles.

"What are you doing? What do you want to do?!"

"Didn't you promise to give us food and a place to stay?!"

"Let me go! I don't want to go! Help!"

Some hot-blooded refugees instinctively wanted to resist, but as soon as they took a step forward, they were met with merciless blows and beatings from several awakened members of the Longevity Sect!

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

"Ugh!"

Several refugees were punched hard in the abdomen, immediately curling up like shrimp and vomiting bile.

Even those refugees who suddenly collapsed to the ground from excessive fright were subjected to unwarranted kicks and scoldings.

Panic erupted instantly!

The refugees screamed and shoved, driven by instinct to continue their resistance.

Several of the refugees tried to escape in the chaos. After waiting for the right moment, they spotted a gap between the guards and darted out.

They used all their strength to flee desperately in the direction they came from!

Even the desolate wilderness outside in the pouring rain is better than the hellish battlefield right in front of me.

"Oh."

Teacher Han coldly watched the retreating figures of the few people fleeing in panic, only letting out a very contemptuous sneer from her nose.

She didn't move, and the guards beside her also crossed their arms and didn't chase after her, their faces instead showing a playful, cat-and-mouse expression.

Sure enough, the group of refugees had barely run a dozen meters when a surge of energy rapidly approached—

"Aaaaaah—!"

A blood-curdling scream suddenly pierced the air!

The fleeing refugees instantly lost their balance and fell heavily to the ground, clutching their legs tightly and convulsing.

Their legs were twisted and deformed unnaturally, something writhing beneath their skin. It was as if invisible blades were cutting through their muscles and nerves, causing excruciating pain like being gnawed by thousands of ants!

Irregular dark red lines began to appear on their skin, clearly indicating that they were enduring the pain of being peeled off.

The refugees didn't even have the strength to roll around; all they could do was let out painful howls.

Teacher Han coldly watched the figure struggling in pain on the ground, the mocking curve of her lips becoming increasingly pronounced. She spoke slowly, but her voice was like a venomous snake flicking its tongue, devoid of any gentleness:

"Run? Where can you run to? The oath has been made, and the rules have been set."

"From the moment you recited the oath with me, your bodies, your lowly souls, and even your lives no longer belong to yourselves, but belong to the Gate of Immortality!"

Her gaze swept over the pale-faced refugees, her tone carrying a cruel, almost condescending quality:

"To ask you ants to dedicate yourselves to the great cause of the Longevity Sect is to give you face!"

"Don't push your luck!"

"Since you've already sworn to give up everything, then just obey and maybe you'll die a quicker death and suffer less torment."

"Otherwise, this excruciating pain of being skinned alive is merely the most insignificant appetizer. Your ultimate fate is to be utterly destroyed!"

The trembling refugees, watching the people writhing and screaming in agony on the ground as if they had been thrown into a vat of boiling oil, and listening to Teacher Han's inhuman words, finally understood their own predicament completely!

Anyone who has sworn an oath will not be able to escape!
