Chapter 619 Outpost Leader, Siblings Rescue

Ma Yuanbai also looked hesitant. Although he would not refuse Li Yu's order, as the deputy city lord, he was fully aware of the current situation in Kangcheng.

What Chen Hai just said is true. Now is indeed the wrong time to spend manpower to mine ore.

After listening to Chen Hai's concerns, Li Yu simply shook her head slightly, without explaining the existence of the underground world in detail. Instead, she reassured him in a calm yet undeniable tone:

"It's not about mining ore. You'll find out later. Just do as I say."

Sensing the unfathomable authority and decisiveness in Li Yu's words, Chen Hai swallowed back all his questions and advice. He took a deep breath and could only lower his head respectfully in response:

"Yes, Your subordinate obeys."

Just as the two were leaving.

Li Yu suddenly spoke up, calling out to Ma Yuanbai, who was about to turn and leave: "By the way, Ma Yuanbai."

Ma Yuanbai immediately stopped and turned around.

"Do you remember the girl I brought back before, Huang Shasha?" Li Yu reminded her.

“I remember,” Ma Yuanbai replied. “Fu Xiyao has already arranged accommodation for her, and there are people to take care of her.”

“Okay.” Li Yu nodded slightly: “Once the outpost outside the mine is initially established, I will take her there to familiarize herself with the environment. She will be in full charge of managing that place in the future.”

This decision seemed abrupt, but Ma Yuanbai showed no surprise or doubt on his face, simply responding calmly:

"Understood. I will personally show her around and explain the responsibilities clearly."

Chen Hai, standing to the side, was instantly filled with shock. To put a seemingly weak girl, whose origins were even unknown, in charge of such an important new stronghold? This was simply unbelievable!

However, Chen Hai had already been completely overwhelmed by the majesty emanating from Li Yu. Even though he had a thousand questions in his heart, he dared not show them at all. He simply bowed and accepted the order along with Ma Yuanbai.

Ma Yuanbai and Chen Hai said no more and quickly turned and left.

Following Li Yuxin's instructions, the members of the Seventh Regiment in Kangcheng quickly sprang into action.

A call to action was quickly issued for awakened individuals with abilities related to construction, earth manipulation, and power enhancement.

Before long, the first batch of engineers assembled by Kangcheng began to gather around the mine with supplies, and preliminary clearing and surveying work quickly commenced.

The Kangcheng mine, which had been quiet for many years, has once again become bustling with activity.

After a moment's thought, Li Yu decided that she should talk to Huang Shasha in person and explain Huang Ya's situation to ensure that she could cooperate with future work.

His left eye lit up with a golden light, and with a flash of light, he confirmed the location of Huang Shasha's aura.

The next moment, his figure disappeared from the spot.

In the blink of an eye, Li Yu appeared outside a residence in the inner district of Kangcheng.

Inside the room, Huang Shasha was sitting by the window, gazing absently at the sky outside, which, though thin, was no longer completely shrouded in dense fog, her face still showing a hint of daze.

Upon seeing Li Yu's sudden appearance outside the window, she quickly stood up.

Before Li Yu could knock, the door was gently pulled open from the inside.

"Brother Li Yu... City Lord." She stepped aside, mimicking how others addressed her, her voice trembling slightly.

A complex expression flashed across Huang Shasha's face, a mixture of awe, gratitude, and a hint of barely perceptible unease.

Li Yu entered the room and looked her over.

Through his golden eyes, he finally sensed the unusually stable and powerful life force within Huang Shasha's body, a force far beyond her years. He then cut to the chase:

"How are you feeling here? Are you settling in comfortably?"

"Very...very good, thank you for your concern, Brother Li Yu. Sister Fu and the others have taken good care of me." Huang Shasha replied softly, her fingers unconsciously twisting the hem of her clothes.

Having not lived with so many people for a long time, Huang Shasha felt a little uncomfortable.

Although she lived a long life, far longer than Li Yu and his group, Huang Shasha's consciousness and reactions remained at the level of a seventeen or eighteen-year-old.

Under the influence of Huang Ya and a large number of ghosts, her mind did not seem to mature.

"You'll get used to it." Li Yu walked to the window, her gaze drifting outside. "I've arranged a job for you."

Huang Shasha was slightly taken aback, and looked up with a puzzled look in her eyes.

"The ghosts and fog in Kangcheng have been dealt with. A new stronghold is being built in the mine."

Li Yu's tone was calm, yet carried a decisive force: "After it's built, you'll be in charge of its management."

"What? Me?!"

Huang Shasha was so shocked that she blurted out, her eyes widening, her face filled with disbelief and fear:

"No, that won't do! I don't understand anything. I've never been involved in anything before in my life."

She instinctively wanted to refuse. Managing a base? This was far beyond her imagination.

Moreover, she had only recently learned that Brother Li Yu was the powerful city lord that the people of Kangcheng were talking about.

At this moment, Brother Li Yu, who was the city lord, actually came personally to arrange things for her.

Li Yu seemed not to hear her refusal and continued speaking to herself:

“Your brother Huang Ya is currently working for me. He is on the other side of the mine, acting as a backup for the other side of the stronghold.”

"Brother, is he on the other side?" Upon hearing the news about her brother, Huang Shasha visibly trembled. The resistance in her eyes subsided slightly, replaced by deep concern.

Huang Shasha couldn't help but look at Li Yu, seemingly wanting to know more about her brother.

Li Yu turned his head and calmly gazed at her, as if he could see through all her hesitation:

“That outpost is a crucial link between Kangcheng and where your brother is. I don’t trust anyone else to manage it.”
