Chapter 9 Even Savages Are Divided into Different Classes

Seeing Li Yu's suspicion, the man immediately knelt down in fright and answered tremblingly:

"I'm sure I didn't see it wrong. I saw with my own eyes that the people in the safe zone were moving and preparing to evacuate."

Upon hearing this, Li Yu thought of the scavenging crowd gathered in the distance and realized that what he said did make some sense.

"Why evacuate?" Li Yu suddenly asked, her brows furrowed in confusion.

Having lived in the apocalypse for so long, this is the first time I've heard of needing to evacuate from a safe zone.

The three looked at each other, all bewildered, and shook their heads. They had no idea about the specific reasons for the evacuation.

It's just that everyone is talking about evacuating, and they want to evacuate too.

"Alright, you can go now." Seeing that she couldn't get any useful information out of him, Li Yu waved her hand, indicating that they could leave.

Seeing that Li Yu was about to let the group go, Fu Xiyao hurriedly stepped forward to stop her, but was interrupted by Li Yu.

"Thank you for sparing my life, sir."

"Thank you for sparing my life, sir."

The three men were relieved to see that Li Yu was really going to let them go.

He hurriedly stood up from the ground, repeatedly expressing his gratitude.

The three then carefully turned around and quickly walked away into the distance. After taking only two steps, they took off running.

Although Fu Xiyao did not refute Li Yu's decision, she still stared fiercely at the three people's backs.

"Hurry up! The captain's position is mine when we get back!" one of them shouted excitedly as he ran.

The words had barely left his mouth.

With a "poof!" sound.

The person who was speaking suddenly collapsed to the ground and fell silent instantly.

The two people beside him were immediately terrified. After exchanging a glance, they quickly split up and fled.

"Whoosh!"

Another arrow flew in, piercing the neck of the man on the left with pinpoint accuracy, and blood continued to gush out.

He hurriedly covered the wound with his hand, trying to stop the bleeding, but it was too late.

The last person ran left and right, constantly dodging.

"puff!"

An arrow flew in and pierced straight into his back, without missing its mark.

Seeing that Li Yu finally made a decisive move, Fu Xiyao finally breathed a sigh of relief.

After all, these guys are lackeys of the safe zone, and given their cowardly nature, they will definitely come back for revenge.

Li Yu really couldn't trust the group. What if they escaped and went back to complain to their superior, Zhang Biao?

It's fine if the leader of the safe zone ignores him, but if Zhang Biao really sends someone to seek revenge, he's afraid that with his current strength, he won't be able to fight back at all.

After dealing with the group, Fu Xiyao quickly stepped forward to loot items, while Li Yu went forward to retrieve the arrows.

Even the arrow that had ambushed him earlier was retrieved, making it exactly five black arrows.

Aside from a few worn-out weapons, the group didn't have anything else of value on them.

Li Yu carefully put away the five precious black arrows. Although he already had eleven arrows, including the ones he had before, it was still far from enough.

If there's no time to retrieve the arrows during battle, once he's used up all his arrows, he'll likely be nothing more than fish on someone else's chopping board.

"Looks like I'll have to trade some arrows with a scavenger."

Thinking of the group of scavengers gathered ahead, Li Yu decided to go and take a look, since such crowded places often attract scavenging merchants.

Fu Xiyao carefully packed away the old weapons and carried them on her back.

At this moment, the petite woman had a bag of wild dog meat on her left and a bag of rusty weapons on her right.

Both packages were quite heavy.

If Fu Xiyao hadn't already eaten and drunk her fill, she probably wouldn't even have been able to walk properly.

"I'll take one bag," Li Yu said, extending her hand.

"No need, I can carry it." Fu Xiyao's face was stubborn.

She was already relying on Li Yu to survive, so how could she let Li Yu carry the package herself?

Seeing that Fu Xiyao insisted on carrying it herself, Li Yu had no choice but to add helplessly, "Don't try to be strong. Give it to me if you get tired."

Fu Xiyao nodded in agreement.

The two then headed toward the direction of the light.

Before long, they arrived at the vicinity of the light, which from a distance did indeed look like the glow of flames.

The two continued toward the light. When they were about 200 meters away, Li Yu noticed that many scavengers had not gone any further but remained on the outskirts.

These scavengers on the outskirts were ragged and haggard, looking as if they might collapse at any moment.

They didn't even have a complete waterproof cloth on their bodies. Under the constant rinsing of the rain, their bodies turned pale, their skin wrinkled, and they looked extremely creepy.

When these emaciated scavengers saw Li Yu and Fu Xiyao, a glint of greed flashed in their eyes. Their sunken eyes scanned the two of them, their gazes filled with desire.

Several people had already begun to slowly gather around.

Upon seeing this, Li Yu immediately drew his bow and arrow, his eyes filled with threat as he looked at the approaching figure.

When the scavengers who had gathered around saw the black bow in Li Yu's hand, they all stopped and silently made way for him.

Clearly, they knew the power of the bow and arrow and dared not provoke them.

Seeing that the zombie-like scavengers had retreated to both sides, Li Yu and his companion continued walking forward.

After walking another hundred meters or so, Li Yu noticed some changes in the scavenger teams around him.

The scavengers here maintain a certain distance from each other, and they are all wearing waterproof cloths to varying degrees, and their clothing is also much better.

Although they were still skin and bones and looked extremely thin, their mental state seemed to be much better.

Although these people noticed that Li Yu's team consisted of only two people, none of them made any rash moves.

Because such small teams are most likely composed of awakened individuals with supernatural abilities.
