Chapter 616 Return to the Ground

"Good...good god, why are you back? Did you come to see me?" The little ghost approached happily, tilting its head up, and called out somewhat awkwardly.

The adults had repeatedly warned it that the strange beast was now a deity and could no longer make random noises.

Li Yu smiled slightly: "I came to find you because I found a way to wake your mother."

"What?!" The little ghost's eyes widened instantly, and its soul almost scattered in excitement.

It pounced forward suddenly, its overwhelming joy leaving it almost speechless:

"Great! Thank God! Let's go! Let's go back now!"

Before the words were even finished, it had already transformed into a small gray shadow and rushed towards the crack, eager to leave this place, moving at an unprecedented speed.

Li Yu shifted her feet slightly, her figure blurring instantly, and easily followed.

Upon seeing this, the centurion hurriedly led the shouts: "Respectfully sending off the gods! May divine light forever bless the city!"

The surrounding ghosts joined in the chanting, their voices filled with piety.

Li Yu, who had originally planned to leave directly, paused almost imperceptibly when she heard the devout voice behind her and felt those inexplicable connections.

With a casual wave of his hand, a blazing flame flashed and disappeared!

He left an arrow in this remote area outside the rock face.

The suspended arrows, as if possessing a life of their own, drifted slowly toward the rock painting and precisely embedded themselves in the bow and arrow in the god's hand.

"Buzz—!"

In an instant, warm golden light spread from the joint, and the light emitted by the arrow dyed the entire rock wall warm and bright.

The rock paintings emanate a continuous sacred aura and warmth, as if they truly possess divinity!

The centurion gasped in shock, his soul churning within him.

He raised his hands high above his head, his voice booming with unprecedented volume and charisma:

"A miracle! A true miracle! The gods have bestowed a divine arrow to protect us and forever guard God's Descent City!"

"Why haven't you knelt down with me and thanked the gods for their blessings!"

The centurion spread his hands and knelt down first, trying to offer everything he had.

The surrounding ghosts had never seen anything like it before, and they were all stunned by this sudden miracle.

Looking again at the increasingly dazzling divine arrow on the rock painting, some timid ghosts were already trembling with fear at the warm and majestic power contained in that light.

Seeing the centurion take the lead, the ghosts knelt down without hesitation, like a dark, surging tide.

"Thank the gods!"

Before the towering rock wall, only countless loyal servants remained, utterly subdued by divine grace.

......

After returning through the rift, the little ghost rushed back to the secluded cave where it and its mother lived at almost the fastest speed it had ever used.

As the little ghost ran, it excitedly thought to itself:

'The adults were right! The gods truly are omnipotent!'

The good gods have a way to wake up mothers.

It even took a moment to look back, making sure Li Yu was still easily following behind, before accelerating again with all its might.

When Li Yu stepped into that familiar cave again, the ghost was already frantically circling around its mother, whose soul had solidified. Its small eyes were fixed on Li Yu, filled with an almost overflowing plea.

Li Yu walked up to the well-preserved, solidified ghost, his left golden pupil gleaming, and a pure and gentle golden energy slowly flowed out like a stream, pouring into the little ghost's mother's soul.

The little ghost immediately froze, obediently crouching to the side, afraid of disturbing Li Yu's 'spellcasting'.

The golden energy swiftly cleared away the constraints that had once bound the golden eyes, and the stiff soul began to soften at a visible speed, instinctively absorbing the dense fog that filled the cave.

The surrounding mist churned slightly, as if drawn into it.

The little ghost stared intently at its mother's changes, wanting to touch her but worried about disturbing her recovery.

Soon, the ghost's body returned to its normal misty fluctuations.

As her scattered consciousness gradually focused, she slowly opened her eyes, her gaze immediately locking onto the small, trembling figure in front of her.

"Xiaowei... what's wrong with me?" Her voice was filled with confusion and weakness as she woke up.

"Mommy!" The little ghost could no longer contain itself and suddenly rushed into its mother's arms. Its soul body trembled violently, as if it wanted to knead all its grievances, fears, and current ecstasy into this trembling embrace.

It didn't know how long it would be before it could hear its mother's voice again.

The little ghost's spirit trembled as it explained, "Mom! You're finally awake! It was a good god who saved you."

It excitedly turned around, wanting to point it out to its mother, but found the cave empty; Li Yu's figure had already quietly disappeared sometime earlier.

The ghostly mother held her child tightly, feeling the lingering warm and powerful golden energy within the spirit's body. Filled with unbelievable awe, she murmured, "A god...?"

The little ghost seemed to remember something, and immediately reacted. It gently broke free from its mother's embrace, and imitating the adults in front of the rock wall, it knelt down and prayed earnestly in the direction of the cave entrance, expressing its gratitude in a childish voice:

"Thank you, God."

Li Yu, who had already gone far away, suddenly felt an extremely pure connection between himself and the little ghost, and couldn't help but smile faintly:

"This little guy really has faith."

Following the path he had come from, Li Yu returned to the familiar man-made mine tunnel without any hindrance.

The sound of rushing rain came from not far away, as always.

The white fog that permeated Kangcheng was still thick, and a faint damp smell lingered in the air.
