Li Yu and Fu Xiyao rode Little Black, moving swiftly towards the shelter like the wind.
As the shelter drew closer, the number of scavengers in the surrounding area increased.
Li Yu scanned his surroundings and was surprised to find that there were no refugees like those in Black Mountain, who were like walking corpses.
Apart from a few relatively thin homeless people, the other scavengers were all in good health and seemed to be in good spirits.
Moreover, even when these scavengers discovered that they were riding horses, they did not show any surprise on their faces.
The two continued riding forward.
“Hey, look at those two scavengers, they’re actually riding horses,” one of the scavengers said to his companion, pointing at Li Yu.
"So what? Go to the shelter and see, what's a horse?"
His companion glanced at it casually and then continued to concentrate on his work, as if he were already used to seeing people riding horses.
The other person laughed after hearing this:
"Haha, let alone riding horses, we've seen people ride bicycles before."
These scavengers seemed to be used to it all and didn't react much to Li Yu and his companion riding horses.
Li Yu was somewhat surprised; it seemed there were quite a few people riding horses here.
After advancing a considerable distance, the number of people gathered increased significantly again.
Even the ground beneath their feet had been trampled into a clearly defined path.
Various sheds and simple houses appeared on both sides of the road, giving the impression that refugees had built them up in a safe zone.
There were many people on the road, so Li Yu and Fu Xiyao had to dismount and continue walking forward with Xiao Hei in their hands.
Walking through the bustling crowd, Li Yu gripped the bow and arrow tightly, not daring to relax for a moment.
Fu Xiyao, on the other hand, was fully focused on being on guard against her surroundings.
If danger arises, the two can at least immediately retaliate.
Li Yu discovered that there were indeed many people from the safe zone among the crowd.
They were dressed in fine clothes and carried various weapons at their waists, making them look out of place in their surroundings.
However, just as the scavengers had said, the people in the safe zone did not attack these refugees.
It's important to know that in the Black Mountain region, people in the safe zone will indiscriminately kill refugees.
In contrast, the atmosphere here is indeed quite harmonious; people in the safe zone are even talking to the refugees.
Even before arriving at the shelter, the differences between this place and Montenegro were already apparent.
We continued walking forward.
Small vendors began to appear around, selling things they had found while out and about.
Some people were selling meat they had hunted, while others were hawking scrap metal.
"Come and take a look! Good stuff that was unearthed from the underground tomb!" someone shouted loudly and urgently.
Someone nearby immediately chimed in: "Five coins for one battery."
"Old Zhang, you're selling a used battery for five coins? Why don't you just rob someone?"
Old Zhang glanced at him sideways, but didn't reply, continuing to squat there and hawk his batteries.
"What are they doing?" Fu Xiyao had never seen such a scene before.
"They might be looking for a deal," Li Yu guessed.
It's important to know that obtaining food is not easy.
Most migrants in the Black Mountain area choose to remain silent for extended periods to indirectly conserve their energy.
Refugees don't shout and yell randomly.
Li Yu and Fu Xiyao found it all fascinating and looked around curiously.
At this moment, a smiling man walked towards Li Yu and the other person.
"You two must have just arrived from out of town."
Li Yu nodded, subconsciously maintaining a certain distance from the other person.
The man continued with a smile, "I'll be your guide here; you can just call me Big Dog."
"A guide?" Fu Xiyao asked curiously.
Upon hearing that there was hope, the big dog hurriedly began to introduce himself at length:
“I grew up here, and I became a guide just to make a living.”
"A guide is someone who explains the various situations here to newcomers like you."
"I can answer any question about shelters."
As the big dog spoke, he took a coin out of his pocket, waved it in front of Li Yu and the other person, and then began to explain in detail:
"The currency circulating here is this 7207 coin, which can be used throughout the entire area under the jurisdiction of the Xirongshan Refuge."
Li Yu looked closely and saw that the coin was indeed engraved with the number 7207.
"You can exchange the supplies for some coins in the central square, because you need coins for everything here."
The big dog stretched out his fingers and rubbed them together with a smile: "I'll be your guide and answer any questions you have about the shelter. I'll only charge you one coin."
“Okay, but you have to answer the questions first.” Li Yu readily agreed and then looked at the big dog.
"Of course." Big Dog didn't seem afraid that Li Yu was lying to him; instead, he answered with a warm smile.
"Are there really any rules here that must be followed?" Li Yu asked first.
The big dog immediately replied, "Yes!"
"Everyone here must strictly abide by the rules of Vault 7207. This includes not attacking others, not stealing, and so on."
The big dog warned, "If you're discovered, the consequences will be extremely dire."
"So you made the right choice to come here, because it's very safe here."
Li Yu and Fu Xiyao exchanged a glance; the rules were actually true.
The big dog seemed somewhat surprised and said, "You actually know the rules? Are you here to participate in the annual elite selection competition?"
