“Speak,” Li Yu replied immediately.
For him, as long as the poor baby's spirit was preserved, everything else was fine.
The Nightmare Beast continued, "I need you to actively kill more ghosts after this to replenish the enormous energy I consumed in protecting the infant spirit."
"No problem." Li Yu agreed without hesitation.
He didn't care at all about killing more other ghosts for the sake of the infant spirit.
"Deal." Excitement flashed in the Nightmare Beast's eyes.
Seeing that Li Yu agreed so readily, the Nightmare Beast wasted no more time.
To control the spirits of aborted fetuses, it is best to do so as early as possible.
It quickly gathered its spiritual energy and activated its special ability.
Immediately afterwards, this spiritual power gradually thinned, forming a white line. The end of the line resembled a fishhook, catching a huge mass of spiritual energy in Li Yu's spiritual sea.
Under the Nightmare Beast's skillful control, this cloud-like mass of spiritual energy slowly drifted out from Li Yu's mental sea.
This pure and rich spiritual energy has a fatal attraction for ghosts.
The surrounding spirits all sensed the aura of spiritual energy and gathered around, but without the infant spirit's command, none of them dared to approach.
The infant spirit closest to Li Yu instantly sensed the presence of 'food' and, driven by instinct, temporarily abandoned its revenge and drifted towards Li Yu.
Seeing that Li Yu offered no resistance, the little infant spirit boldly climbed onto Li Yu's shoulder, opened its little mouth, and vigorously licked and absorbed the spiritual energy emanating from Li Yu's face.
With each lick, white energy flowed into the infant spirit's body, nourishing its soul.
“They’ve taken the bait,” the Nightmare Beast whispered.
The large mass of spiritual energy surrounding the infant spirit suddenly contracted, tightly enveloping the unsuspecting infant spirit.
With a thought, the Nightmare Beast used its spiritual energy to envelop the infant spirit and forcefully suck it into Li Yu's mental sea.
The infant spirit panicked and waved its short, lotus-root-like arms, trying to resist.
However, Li Yu's mental sea was already the Nightmare Beast's home ground. With just one glance from its enormous eyes, the little infant spirit fell into a daze and fell silent.
At the same time, Li Yu suddenly felt a faint consciousness appear in his mental sea.
This consciousness seemed to be filled with endless curiosity, its lively eyes darting around, taking in the vast white surroundings.
"Aba, Aba."
The infant spirit made strange noises, foolishly searching for the energy it had just received, seemingly still hungry.
He doesn't seem very bright.
But Li Yu was still relieved; at least the baby's spirit was preserved and hadn't died completely.
The white raven standing in the star array was somewhat surprised to see the ghost suddenly disappear.
Having lived in a place teeming with ghosts for many years, he naturally knew how to control them, and could even use his powers to transform them into servants.
But today was the first time he had ever seen such a method used to subdue the Ghost Servants.
Bai Ya looked Li Yu up and down with curiosity, muttering to himself:
"He possesses eyes that can see ghosts, his weapons are powerful and fast, and they are also imbued with ghostly power that can kill ghosts. He also has a strong mental ability that can suppress ghosts."
"They're practically the natural enemy of ghosts!"
After careful observation and analysis, a look of satisfaction appeared on Bai Ya's face.
He actually took the initiative to suggest something to Li Yu:
"If possible, I sincerely hope you can join our Deepsea Watchers organization. What do you think?"
“Absolutely impossible.” Li Yu immediately refused in a cold voice.
The white crow showed no anger whatsoever; instead, it smiled slightly.
"Don't rush to refuse; fate will always push you to where you are meant to be."
Li Yu stared at the white crow before him, his eyes flashing with murderous intent:
"No need, because you're going to die here today."
Upon hearing this, Bai Ya calmly turned to look at the murals on the church walls, then slowly shook his head and sighed softly:
"Although I wish to rest here, this is not where my destiny is."
Li Yu raised his crossbow: "Then I'll make this your final resting place!"
Just as Li Yu finished aiming and was about to pull the trigger...
The crossbow in his hand seemed to be stuck; no matter how hard he tried, it wouldn't budge, let alone fire an arrow.
Upon seeing this, Bai Ya on the opposite side smiled slightly and raised his finger to wave at Li Yu.
Li Yu looked closely and then noticed a silver thread on Bai Ya's index finger.
Meanwhile, the other end of the silk thread was tightly wrapped around his repeating crossbow, circle by circle.
“You’re too close to me,” Bai Ya said with a smile, her tone relaxed.
“If I were you, I would keep a greater distance rather than fight face to face in a narrow church.”
No sooner had he finished speaking than Bai Ya suddenly curled his finger and flicked it lightly.
"Click!"
Li Yu's eyes narrowed, realizing something was wrong, and she quickly retreated.
Before Li Yu could retreat and dodge, several energy threads had already climbed up Li Yu's arm like venomous snakes.
Immediately following was a sharp pain, as the thread cut into the flesh and left a bloody mark.
At the same time, more threads quickly spread out, binding Li Yu's hands and feet tightly.
Li Yu immediately exerted her strength, trying to break free from the entanglement of the silk threads.
To my surprise, these seemingly delicate and fragile threads are actually incredibly strong.
No matter how hard he struggled, he couldn't break it.
