"When I have time, I'll have to tell you all about your insights."
Mu Chunxi smiled and said, "If you're willing to listen, Shen Shuang, I'm happy to tell you."
The two exchanged a few polite words.
Lu Wei stepped forward. "My lord, Chunxi, let's go inside!"
"good."
Lord Mu and Mu Chenshuang walked ahead.
Mu Chunxi walked behind the two, arm in arm with Lu Wei.
"Mother, where is Third Sister? I haven't seen her." Mu Chunxi suddenly asked.
Lu Wei looked troubled and said, "Your sister caught a cold. She really wanted to come out and greet you, but she just couldn't manage it, so I told her to rest."
Upon hearing this, Lord Mu stopped and turned back to look at Lu Wei. "Is Ya'er sick?"
Lu Wei glanced at Mu Chenshuang subconsciously, her eyes seeming to be wary of her.
"Yes, you should be fine after resting for a while."
How could Lord Mu not have noticed the implication in Lu Wei's words? He frowned slightly and asked, "What do you mean by 'should'? You didn't call a doctor to come and see me?"
Lu Wei kept an eye on Mu Chenshuang's cousin's reaction, but she remained calm and composed throughout, her serene expression making it impossible to guess what she was planning.
Mu Chunxi noticed Lu Wei's unusual behavior and, before Lu Wei could answer Mu Tianxiong's question, said, "Father, I'll go with Mother to see Third Sister first, so you and Chen Shuang can have a good chat."
Mu Tianxiong nodded in agreement, "Okay."
Seeing Mu Chunxi's reaction, Mu Chenshuang secretly admired her: Mu Chunxi is indeed much smarter than Lu Wei.
She knew perfectly well what tricks Lu Wei was up to, so she simply let it go, waiting for Lu Wei to fall into the trap herself.
Then.
Mu Chenshuang accompanied Mu Tianxiong toward the main courtyard.
Lu Wei led Mu Chunxi toward the side courtyard.
"Mother, where are you taking me?"
Mu Chunxi asked.
Lu Wei sighed, her eyes filled with sorrow, "Your third sister and I have already been banished to a side courtyard by Mu Chenshuang. If you and your father don't come back soon, I'm afraid no one will care whether we live or die."
Mu Chunxi frowned. "Mother, what do you mean by that?"
Lu Wei briefly recounted the events of the past few days to Mu Chunxi, explaining that Mu Chenshuang had deliberately persecuted them, and that they were the victims.
Upon hearing her mother's explanation, Mu Chunxi's face immediately darkened, and she hit the nail on the head, saying, "Mother, you tried to frame Mu Chenshuang, but instead you harmed yourself."
Upon hearing Mu Chunxi's words, Lu Wei felt somewhat embarrassed. In her eyes, her daughter was a talented woman who excelled in both literature and martial arts, and was never involved in such conspiracies and intrigues.
She was worried that Mu Chunxi would find out what she had done and be disappointed in her as her mother.
“But all I’ve done is to help you and your brother secure your positions in the Marquis’s mansion. After all, she is the legitimate daughter and a princess personally appointed by His Majesty. With her around, you and Ya’er will always be one rank below her.”
How could she bear the thought of her daughter being of a lower status than Mu Chenshuang?
"So, Mother, when you said Third Sister was sick, she was faking it, wasn't she?"
Lu Wei glanced around and admitted in a low voice, "Yes."
"It can't just be that Third Sister is sick; there are other traps waiting for Mu Chenshuang?"
Lu Wei did not deny it.
Hearing her mother's explanation, Mu Chunxi sighed, "Mother, you've been in control of the Marquis's mansion for many years, how can you still be so blind to people's hearts? Just look at how easily Mu Chenshuang was able to fight back against you before, Mother, do you really think your little tricks can frame her?"
