Thanks to the gold medal bestowed upon her by Emperor Feng Guche, and the fact that she was visiting the Empress Dowager, Mu Chenshuang arrived at Cining Palace without any obstacles.
She was about to go inside when she suddenly heard footsteps behind her, followed by a familiar voice.
"Shuang'er?" Feng Xilan was overjoyed to see Mu Chenshuang and subconsciously called out her name.
When he saw Mu Chenshuang turn around and politely and distantly curtsy to him, the smile on his face froze for a moment, and he awkwardly withdrew his hand that was outstretched in mid-air.
"Your Highness the Crown Prince has also come to visit the Empress Dowager today?" Mu Chenshuang asked in a flat voice, her words devoid of any emotion.
“Yes, Princess, let’s go together.” Feng Xilan chuckled awkwardly in response, raising his hand in a gesture of invitation while his eyes still couldn’t help but steal glances at Mu Chenshuang.
Even though Mu Chenshuang is cold and aloof towards him now, he probably still longs to see her even once. He is secretly delighted and content to be able to see her today.
Mu Chenshuang, standing to the side, didn't stand on ceremony with him either, and entered the main hall side by side with Feng Xilan.
Granny Yun was instructing the maids in the main hall when she looked up and saw Mu Chenshuang and Feng Xilan arrive. She was immediately overjoyed.
Granny Yun walked quickly toward them, first bowing to Feng Xilan according to etiquette, then immediately looked at Mu Chenshuang with joy, bowing as she said, "Princess, the Empress Dowager was able to speak clearly yesterday."

Mu Chenshuang quickly agreed and walked over, with Granny Yun and Feng Xilan following closely behind.
Although the Empress Dowager seemed to be in much better spirits, her body was still very weak and powerless after being tormented by illness, so she could only lean on the soft cushion that Granny Yun had prepared for her.
When Mu Chenshuang saw the Empress Dowager extend her slightly trembling, somewhat aged hand towards her, she quickly stepped forward and grabbed it, and sat down on the edge of the bed as the Empress Dowager wished.
After sitting down, Mu Chenshuang also took the Empress Dowager's pulse.

The weak and powerless Empress Dowager smiled softly upon hearing this, her somewhat aged and feeble eyelids drooping.

As the Empress Dowager spoke, she seemed to recall something, and looked up at the front of her eyes, as if she were seeing something from the past.

Upon hearing this, Mu Chenshuang lowered her eyes thoughtfully, and after a long while, she and Feng Xilan exchanged a glance, each lost in their own thoughts.
Just as Mu Chenshuang was lost in thought, she heard the Empress Dowager say with emotion, "I heard from Granny Yun that the Empress is still under house arrest, and the Emperor often neglects morning court sessions, favoring the Imperial Noble Consort."
