Chapter 22 Kneeling Down to Apologize

Mu Yazhi froze under that gaze, her movements halting. Suddenly, she was caught between sitting and standing. When she saw Mu Chenshuang's cold and terrifying expression, she involuntarily stood up.

She said in an unhappy tone, "My sister once said that we sisters don't need to be distant. Why are you suddenly putting on airs now?"

Mu Chenshuang leisurely picked up the teacup beside her, took a sip of the hot tea, and said lightly, "You said it yourself, it's all in the past. The past is the past, and the present is the present. There is a difference between superiors and inferiors. Sister, you should have some self-respect."

Mu Yazhi still couldn't believe it. This woman had really changed. Had this fool suffered some kind of shock?

Seeing her arrogant attitude, I felt extremely displeased, but I suppressed my anger.

"Sister, have you forgotten how many schemes I devised for you since you married into the Eastern Palace, all to help you win the Crown Prince's heart? Now you turn your back on me. You have truly broken my heart."

Upon hearing this, Mu Chenshuang put down her teacup, a mocking smile curving her lips.

Because the original owner grew up in the military, she was forthright and simple-minded, unlike the women in the royal palace who were scheming and cunning.

Therefore, she took care of her half-sister without distinction, and even though her schemes repeatedly alienated the Crown Prince, she never doubted her.

"Do you know that because of your schemes, I have been humiliated by the Crown Prince time and time again? Sister, tell me, shouldn't we settle these scores?"

The chilling voice and sharp gaze made Mu Yazhi stiffen all over, and her heart trembled uncontrollably.

She found it difficult to look Mu Chenshuang in the eye, her hands clenching tightly as she tried to control her emotions. She said aggrievedly, "Sister, what do you mean by that? You think I deliberately framed you? But what good would it do me or the Marquis's mansion if I framed you?"

As Mu Yazhi spoke, her voice became increasingly choked with sobs, and her eyes filled with tears. If Mu Chenshuang had seen her like this before, she probably would have softened her heart long ago.

“But my sister is right to teach me a lesson. I was too stupid and didn’t have the ability to think of a better plan to make His Highness the Crown Prince like you. It was my fault. I’m sorry to my sister. If my sister can calm down, I will do anything for you.”

Mu Yazhi apologized tearfully, looking pitiful, but inwardly she was seething with hatred. If it weren't for the important things she had to do today and the need to calm this woman down, she wouldn't have to put up with this.

Mu Chenshuang watched Mu Yazhi's performance with a cold attitude from beginning to end, and said with a cold smile, "Since you are so sincere in apologizing, why don't you kneel here for an hour? Perhaps this will appease my anger."

These words were spoken.

Mu Yazhi stared wide-eyed at Mu Chenshuang in disbelief, her beautiful eyes wide. "You..."

Just as she was about to lose her temper, the maid who was with her stepped forward and said, "Your Highness, the Third Miss has not been feeling well lately. How can you make her kneel down? Besides, the Third Miss came here today specifically to bring you tonics."

The moment the words were spoken.

A cold gaze shot straight at her, and the maid was so frightened that she quickly lowered her head, feeling as if her heart was being squeezed and she couldn't breathe.

Mu Yazhi came to her senses. She had to make this woman drink the medicine soup today, no matter what. She turned to the side, took the lunchbox from the maid, and placed it on the stone table in front of Mu Chenshuang.

Suppressing her anger, she slowly said, "Sister, I know you are resentful about His Highness the Crown Prince taking a concubine. I accept your hitting and scolding, but you know that my mother has always loved you very much. She knew you were in a bad mood recently, so she specially cooked some nourishing soup and asked me to bring it over. Even if you resent me, I hope you will not let my mother down."

As she spoke, Mu Yazhi opened the box, and a bowl of steaming soup appeared before Mu Chenshuang's eyes.

Mu Chenshuang looked at the bowl of soup in front of her with indifference and coldness, fearing that there was more to the soup than met the eye.

"Aunt Lu is really being kind. Linglong, take it to the kitchen," Mu Chenshuang instructed.

These words made Mu Yazhi nervous, and she hurriedly said, "Sister, you should drink it while it's hot, it will get cold in a while."

"I don't really want to drink it now, but I'll drink it when I feel like it."

Mu Yazhi panicked completely. "Sister, Mother said I need to see you drink it so that if there's anything wrong, I can go back and tell Mother so I can improve next time."

As they were talking.

Seeing Mu Chenshuang's cold eyes, she felt extremely uneasy. She had to make her drink the medicine no matter what, and her heart sank suddenly.

The next second.

Mu Yazhi knelt down directly, lowered her eyes, and said sincerely, "Sister, if you have grievances in your heart, you can scold me. I don't want to cause a rift between you and Mother because of me, and I don't want to ruin Mother's good intentions."

Mu Chenshuang looked at the woman kneeling on the ground, a half-smile curving her lips. She slowly reached out and picked up the soup from the wooden box.

Mu Yazhi's eyes were filled with resentment, and her heart clenched.

"Since my sister speaks so sincerely, let's see how much you can actually repay with your sincere apology."

Mu Yazhi hated Mu Chenshuang to the core. It was obvious that she was being forced to kneel here for an hour. She clenched her fingers and her chest heaved. "If you can forgive me, then I will kneel here for an hour without any problem."

These words made the maid beside her worry. She looked at Mu Chengshuang and said excitedly, "Your Highness, even if the Third Miss is wrong, she did it out of good intentions. She specially brought you soup today, but you made her kneel here. If this gets out and reaches the Crown Prince's ears, it may not be good for you."

These words carried a blatant threat.

"A mere maidservant, how dare you threaten me?" The cold, menacing tone frightened the maidservant into kneeling on the ground.

"This servant wouldn't dare; this servant is only thinking of Your Majesty."

"Huan'er, stop talking. If my sister tells me to kneel, I will kneel."

He thought to himself with a ruthless determination: I will make you pay back a thousandfold for the humiliation Mu Chenshuang has suffered today.

Mu Chenshuang looked coldly at Mu Yazhi. The fact that she had to pay such a high price to get her to drink this soup only made Mu Yazhi more curious about what exactly was in the soup.
