Chapter 94 The Aura of the Head of the Family

We arrived at the main courtyard.

Mu Chenshuang saw the soldiers and officers of the Shuntian Prefecture government office.

An official dressed in crimson was talking to Lu Wei.

Upon seeing Mu Chenshuang, the official bowed respectfully and said, "Princess Weiyang."

Mu Chenshuang nodded in agreement.

"Shuang'er, get up. You should know about the assassination attempt at the Marquis's residence last night!"

Mu Chenshuang stared coldly at Lu Wei, her eyes revealing no undisguised mockery. It was truly remarkable that Lu Wei could still maintain this pretense with her.

"I just found out. Isn't Aunt Lu always kind and tactful? Could she have offended someone?"

Seeing Mu Chenshuang's arrogant demeanor, Mu Yazhi felt truly angry.

"How could my mother offend anyone? But you, sister, seem to have offended quite a few people, so isn't it normal for her to arrange for an assassin to try to kill you? However, when this assassin appeared last night, Mother was worried about your safety and came to check on you, only to find you weren't in your room. Sister, tell me, where did you go last night? Or did you meet that assassin again last night?"

It has a hidden meaning.

Mu Chenshuang gave a cold, chilling smile that sent shivers down Mu Yazhi's spine. Mu Yazhi stared at Mu Chenshuang with wide, terrified eyes.

"What are you laughing at? What's so funny? Did I hit the nail on the head? Sister, how dare you openly meet with someone else?"

Mu Yazhi tried her best to suppress her inner fear and raised her voice to question him.

Mu Chenshuang slowly raised her hand, rubbing her wrist with one hand, and said softly, "It seems you haven't had enough of a slap. You don't know your place. It seems this princess still has to teach you a lesson."

His words, though calm and placid, carried a chilling undercurrent.

Mu Yazhi subconsciously covered her cheek, and when she met Mu Chenshuang's sharp eyes, her heart trembled uncontrollably.

“Shuang’er,” Lu Wei suddenly said, “Ya’er was just acting rashly.”

"In a panic?"

Mu Chenshuang's lips curled up, but the smile didn't reach her eyes. She walked straight to a chair to the side, raised her hand, lifted her long sleeve slightly, and sat down.

"So her rash words were just mindless slander. She came right at me and questioned me. I'd like to know who gave her the audacity!"

Mu Chenshuang sat in the main seat, her eyes sharp as blades, emanating an intimidating aura that commanded the head of the household.

Even Lu Wei, standing in front of her, seemed to lack presence.

Lu Wei looked at her sitting upright in the main seat, her eyes changing slightly, but she quickly regained her composure and asked, "Ya'er was indeed impulsive, but where did Shuang'er go last night?"

Lu Wei reported the matter to the authorities simply to force her to confess in front of the officials. If she couldn't explain where she went, even without evidence that she had an affair with the assassin last night, they could still create a public opinion that she was not in her boudoir in the middle of the night and must have gone to meet a man.

Lu Wei's plan was truly brilliant; she was willing to use any means necessary to ruin Lu Wei's reputation.

"I rested in my room all night. I don't know why Aunt Lu said I wasn't in my room?"

Lu Wei paused for a moment, then said softly, "Last night, because I was worried about you, Shuang'er, I went to your room to check on you. But you didn't respond when I called you a few times. I was afraid something had happened to you, so when I entered the room, I didn't see you. So I thought that since Lord Zhou is here, I should ask you, Shuang'er."

Mu Chenshuang confronted Lu Wei.

In front of outsiders, she truly concealed herself flawlessly. With her gentle voice and kind face, anyone would think that Lu Wei really was a good stepmother.
