Chapter 268 Why Did He Come?

Mu Chenshuang was taken to the Chengtianjian prison.

“Until the case is resolved, I will trouble Princess Weiyang to stay here,” Jiang Mingzhi said respectfully.

Mu Chenshuang walked calmly into the prison. From her eyes and her steady steps, one could not sense the slightest bit of the dejection of a prisoner.

She walked into the prison, stopped, turned her back to Jiang Mingzhi, and said coldly, "Go back and tell the chief inmate that now that I'm in, I won't leave easily."

Her aloof and arrogant demeanor carried an invisible sense of oppression.

Jiang Mingzhi was slightly taken aback. Mu Chenshuang was the first person to dare to be so arrogant in Chengtianjian.

Many people, even princes and nobles, would humbly plead when faced with the investigation of the Imperial Observatory. Yet Mu Chenshuang stood there cleanly, arrogantly, and said these astonishing words.

"I will relay Princess Weiyang's words to Lord Zhu."

After Jiang Mingzhi finished speaking, he instructed the guards beside him, "Keep a close eye on things."

"yes."

Jiang Mingzhi turned and strode out of the cell.

Until the hour of Xu (7-9 PM).

Zhu Qin returned to the Chengtianjian from the palace.

Inside the study.

Jiang Mingzhi reported the situation of the day, truthfully recounting every word, "When I checked Prince Wei's pulse, it had indeed stopped beating, but after being treated by Doctor Li, his heartbeat resumed."

A servant helped Zhu Qin change out of his official robes.

Zhu Qin was stunned when he heard Jiang Mingzhi's explanation. "You mean this Doctor Li brought Wei Xu back to life?"

Jiang Mingzhi wasn't sure. "Indeed, only Doctor Li was in the room. I had someone follow Princess Weiyang the whole time. What I find strange is why General Shen wanted to give a separate testimony for Princess Weiyang?"

Zhu Qin sat in his chair. "Wasn't it an attempt to distract you?"

"I think so too, but there is indeed only Doctor Li in the room. Doctor Li said that he can only protect Prince Wei's heart meridian. If we want to save Wei Xu, we still need to see the spiritual doctor. However, the secret guards I just sent reported that after Doctor Li returned to the pharmacy, he went out of the city. But after Doctor Li went out of the city... we lost track of him."

When Jiang Mingzhi said the last sentence, he lowered his head and looked slightly nervous.

"This can only mean that someone is secretly protecting Dr. Li, and the other party must already know that someone is following him."

“Those were people arranged by Princess Weiyang.”

"Who else could it be but Mu Chenshuang?"

"Judging from this, the relationship between Doctor Li and Princess Weiyang is indeed unusual. Could it be that Princess Weiyang is also related to that mysterious spiritual healer?"

The Imperial Observatory's surveillance network in Kyoto was extensive and powerful; no one could escape its watchful eyes.

But after searching for so long, the spiritual healer has left no trace, as if he never existed.

Zhu Qin's old, deep eyes held a profound understanding, and he said in a deep voice, "Is it that this so-called spiritual healer's secret skills are too advanced, or is this person actually right in front of us?"

Jiang Mingzhi's pupils widened as he looked at Zhu Qin, "Does Your Excellency have something in mind?"

Zhu Qin remained silent for a moment, not answering his question, and then asked, "How is Mu Chenshuang?"

Jiang Mingzhi answered truthfully, "Princess Weiyang asked me to pass on a message."

"What did you say?"

"Now that she's in, it won't be so easy to get her out."

The words were spoken.

Zhu Qin's face suddenly darkened, a fierce light flashing in his eyes. He placed his hands on the desk, his eyes lowered, and tapped the tabletop with his right index finger, the sound echoing in the quiet space, sounding particularly eerie.

Suddenly.

All that could be heard was Zhu Qin's mocking laugh, his pearly yellow eyes gleaming with a chilling light.

“This Princess Weiyang is truly the best. Since that’s the case, then I will grant her wish.”

Inside the dark and damp prison, the cries and groans of prisoners could be heard from time to time. They were all high-ranking criminals of the imperial court, who had once enjoyed great power and prestige, but were now so destitute that they were not even as good as a dog.

Her cell was in a separate location, making it easy to keep an eye on her, and there were no other prisoners around to avoid causing a disturbance.

Mu Chenshuang leaned against the straw mat against the wall, closed her eyes to rest, and used her internal energy to keep her body warm. Her calm and peaceful expression made her look nothing like someone who had come to jail.

She was the only one who seemed so special.

I don't know how much time passed like that.

late at night.

Mu Chenshuang sensed something amiss and abruptly opened her eyes. She saw a figure standing in the darkness. Moonlight streamed through the cage window and fell on the man, as if shrouding him in a cool veil. He exuded a noble and aloof air, his upright and pine-like figure dazzling like a god descending into darkness.

Mu Chenshuang stared in astonishment at the person who had suddenly appeared.

In an instant.

Her quiet heart seemed to be stirred by something.

But she quickly calmed down.

Fu Junheng appeared silently, as if no one had noticed his presence.

He simply raised his hand, placed it on the chain, and with a exertion of force, the lock opened automatically.

The man walked straight in, his waist-length silver hair swaying gently with his steps, his handsome, godlike face captivating all who looked at him.

Mu Chenshuang frowned as she stared at the man who had appeared, and said calmly, "What is Crown Prince Junheng doing here?"

Fu Junheng stopped and lowered his eyes, his deep, calm gaze fixed on the woman sitting on the straw mat. The environment here seemed out of place with her noble demeanor.

"Come and see Princess Weiyang." His tone was so calm and even that it was impossible to guess what he was thinking.
