Inside the spacious and comfortable carriage, Fu Junheng, who was flipping through a file, raised his eyes, lifted the curtain, and glanced outside.
What comes into view are towering mountain peaks and lush, continuous green trees.
Fu Junheng's eyebrows twitched slightly, realizing that if they went another twenty miles forward, they would reach the territory of Jiangcheng. A glint flashed in his golden eyes, as if he had remembered something.
The caravan stopped for a short rest midway through the journey. Fu Junheng got off the carriage and fell into deep thought, facing the direction of Jiang Cheng.
Jiangcheng was originally the Jiang Kingdom. It was initially defeated by the Libei King of the Tianzhao Kingdom. Later, due to the death of the Libei King and the annihilation of his army, the Xiyue Kingdom was able to successfully take over the Jiang Kingdom.
After being annexed by the Western Moon Kingdom, the Jiang Kingdom was renamed Jiang City.
The things Mu Chenshuang wants to investigate, the answers she seeks, and the clues from the past may still be hidden deep within the land of Jiangcheng.
Fu Junheng recalled that when their Xiyue Kingdom took over the Jiang Kingdom, many letters and documents related to military and social affairs were either destroyed or sealed away.
In addition, a considerable number of them may have been scattered and hidden in some parts of Jiangcheng as people dispersed.
With Mu Chenshuang's captivating features so vivid in his mind, Fu Junheng made up his mind that he must help Mu Chenshuang accomplish this task.
"Your Highness, the troops are ready to depart." The head guard bowed respectfully to Fu Junheng, clasping his hands in a gesture of respect.
Coming to his senses, Fu Junheng looked up and nodded slightly, indicating that he could prepare to set off.
As the head of the guards returned to the front of the column, Fu Junheng summoned his trusted bodyguard, Jue Ming.
Fu Junheng, with the air of an immortal, white hair flowing, and tall and elegant figure, stood at the foot of the lush green mountain, whispering a few words of advice to him.
Jue Ming was slightly taken aback after hearing his words, and quickly spoke a few words in a sincere and earnest manner. However, Fu Junheng's expression remained cold and stern. He merely raised his eyes slightly, and Jue Ming could only respectfully lower his head, not daring to say anything more.
Fu Junheng turned around, strode out with an air of arrogance, and arrived at the carriage in just a few steps.
As Fu Junheng boarded the carriage, the oppressive feeling of impending doom disappeared.
He looked up at the slowly moving carriage, the words Fu Junheng had just given him echoing in his ears.
The convoy stopped at an inn at night.
Under the cover of night, Fu Junheng changed into a black outfit. His cool and aloof face was shrouded in a mask, and with the addition of a hood and a black cloak, he gave off a strong sense of oppression, but his face could not be seen.
Before Fu Junheng left, Jue Ming couldn't help but say again, "Your Highness, it's too dangerous for you to go alone..."
Sharp eyes swept over Jue Ming, who could only purse his lips and remain silent.
"Just do what I've told you to do. Guard my carriage and continue on your way. Don't let anyone find out that I've left." Before the cold, deep voice had even finished, Fu Junheng had already flashed away, leaping out of the window as light as a swallow.
In the darkness of night, Fu Junheng, dressed in black clothes and a black hat, rode past at breakneck speed.
The steady, powerful sound of horses' hooves cut through the quiet night sky, leaving only a cloud of dust behind.
After traveling all night, Fu Junheng arrived in Jiangcheng when the city gates opened at dawn.
Today, the people of Jiangcheng are prosperous and live in peace and contentment, seemingly having completely emerged from the flames of war of earlier years.
When Fu Junheng looked up, he could see a bustling scene of merchants gathering and shops lining the streets.
He headed straight for the headquarters of his secret guards in Jiangcheng. Back when he took Xiyue Kingdom under his control, he had already secretly planted his own spies here for surveillance purposes, but now he never expected they would come in so useful.
