Chapter 915 Daring Not to Refuse

Lady Zhuge looked worried and carefully reminded Zhuge Yi.

Zhuge Yi understood that it wouldn't be a good thing if he got too close to Feng Mo Ran later.

However, since things had come to this point, he dared not refuse.

"There's no other good way right now. I've thought about it for a long time but I can't find a reason to refuse. Actually, there's nothing wrong with us getting closer to the Second Prince now, right?"

Although he asked the question, Zhuge Yi himself was unsure of the answer.

Zhuge Yi always felt that getting close to the Second Prince Feng Mo Ran was a way of distancing himself from the Crown Prince.

To deny the Crown Prince is tantamount to denying the current emperor.

But upon further reflection, Zhuge Yi felt that he couldn't think of it that way.

The emperor has imprisoned the crown prince; isn't that a rejection of the crown prince?

Since the Emperor has begun to reject the Crown Prince, it doesn't seem like such a big mistake for me to side with the Second Prince.

After a jumble of thoughts, Zhuge Yi, with a mix of trepidation and excitement, went to the Second Prince's residence for a banquet.

To welcome Zhuge Yi, Feng Mo Ran hosted a grand banquet. After Zhuge Yi sat down at the table, Feng Mo Ran was the first to raise her wine glass.

"Thank you for gracing my humble abode with your presence, Lord Zhuge. I am truly honored."

Zhuge Yi smiled apprehensively, and then spoke.

"How could I dare refuse Your Highness's invitation?"

After hearing this, Feng Mo Ran was stunned for a moment, then a faint smile appeared on her lips.

Feng Mo Ran took out a letter from her bosom and placed it in front of Zhuge Yi.

Zhuge Yi didn't know what Feng Mo Ran wanted to do, and before he even opened the letter, Feng Mo Ran asked him a question.

"What is the meaning of this, Your Highness?"

Feng Mo Ran pointed meaningfully at the letter.

"You'll know once you open it and take a look."

In front of Feng Mo Ran, Zhuge Yi unfolded the letter and read it carefully. After he finished reading it, he was shocked. In an instant, his face turned pale and cold sweat poured out of his forehead.

"Your Highness..."

"This was written by one of your concubines. It clearly states that Prime Minister Shen bribed you first to frame the Prince of Libei!"

Feng Mo Ran spoke softly, but every word was piercing.

Zhuge Yi was so frightened that he knelt on the ground and waved his hands repeatedly.

"Your Highness, this is absurd! This is absolutely fabricated. I have no grudge against the Prince of Libei, why would I frame him?"

"Furthermore, when has Prime Minister Shen ever tried to bribe me? Everything written in this letter is completely fabricated!"

"Your Highness, please don't make such a joke. Matters of state are matters of life and death, and I am terrified. Your Highness, you must be careful!"

At this point, Zhuge Yi no longer cared about saving face and kowtowed directly to Feng Mo Ran.

Seeing Zhuge Yi so frightened, Feng Mo Ran was not angry at all, but instead helped him up with both hands.

"Zhuge Yi, I invited you to dinner not to intimidate you. Please sit down and let's talk things over."

Zhuge Yi was panicked and his whole body was trembling.

Many thoughts flashed through Zhuge Yi's mind on the way, but he never expected that Feng Mo Ran would pull such a stunt.

I have no grudge against the King of Libei, so why did Feng Mo Ran say those things?

Besides, I admire the King of Libei and think he is a great hero. How could things have turned out this way?

Good heavens, you've really played a huge joke on yourself!
