Chapter 1408 An unexpected visitor

Chapter 1408 An unexpected visitor

Xiao Peng was stunned when he arrived in the living room.

He had asked Alfred to have someone wait for him in the living room because he had heard that his compatriots were among them. He thought they were students from three domestic universities who were participating in a talent and technology exchange program at Delft University of Technology, so he let them in. However, when he saw who they were, he realized he was wrong.

The people who came were indeed students from Delft University of Technology, but it was Lotte Maes, whom he had met while studying together. Xiao Peng also recognized the others; they were Lotte Maes's close friends, whom Xiao Peng described as "everything but students." He knew the names of two of them: Sylvia, the one who seemed to have a boyfriend who was a wealthy second-generation kid, and Huang Jing, who was indeed an international student at Daxia. Xiao Peng had seen her twice: at the Rotterdam police station, she was hanging out with the motorcycle gang.

Initially, I had a favorable impression of Lotte Meis Xiaopeng, a book friend we'd read together. But after getting to know her, I realized her ego was terrifying, and my impression of her soured. I had no real impression of Sylvia Xiaopeng, except that she was a bit silly. She was a money-grubber, so you had to look for the "gold" first, right? If her boyfriend was really a rental scam and she fell for it, then I had no one to blame but my own naiveté. As for Huang Jing, Xiaopeng felt a genuine dislike for her.

First of all, her makeup style disgusted Xiao Peng! She deliberately drew her eyeliner very long, which made her eyes look very narrow. This makeup style was designed to fit the Western stereotype of Oriental people. It is also known as "squinty eyes".

It is said that everyone loves to watch Hollywood blockbusters, but if you look at the Asian women that appear in them, they are basically "evil", "materialistic", and "squinty-eyed". Well, the male characters are similar, usually "stupid", "small-eyed", and "short", because only such characters fit their perception of Oriental people.

Anyway, no matter whether you are a man or a woman, small eyes are the best!

This situation is becoming even more serious, especially now that "political correctness" has a serious impact on the West.

People often talk about cultural differences between the East and the West. What Easterners like might not be liked by Westerners, and what Westerners like might not be liked by Easterners. This is true, but what about people's aesthetic standards? In fact, human aesthetics are relatively similar.

Think about the stars of the past: Leonardo DiCaprio, Keanu Reeves, David Beckham, Tom Cruise, Audrey Hepburn, Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe, etc. Although they are all European and American stars, they are also considered handsome men and beautiful women in the East. This is the commonality of aesthetics.

Just like the popular "superhero" movies, whether it is the DC world's "Superman" Henry Cavill, "Batman" Ben Affleck, "Wonder Woman" Gal Gadot, "Aquaman" Jason Momoa... they are all standard handsome men and beautiful women. The same is true for Marvel. Look at the six in "Avengers", uh, except for the Hulk, they are basically handsome men and beautiful women. Look at "Captain America" Chris Evans and "Black Widow" Scarlett Johansson, their looks are popular in both the East and the West!

And now? Thanks to the influence of political correctness, aesthetic standards have suddenly shifted dramatically. "Captain Marvel" cast Brie Larson, the "female fighter," as the character, turning her into "Mrs. Marvel." Spider-Man's girlfriend, once a white beauty, has become a "girlfriend next door"; the female lead in the TV series "Ms. Marvel" is even a cylindrical figure. And that's not to mention the Chinese superhero movie "Yingfengchou Sanli," where the male lead has a slit eye and the female lead is 155cm tall and hunchbacked...

This is not an exception: it is bad enough that the heroine Ariel in Disney's "The Little Mermaid" is played by a black person, but even Anne Boleyn, one of the famous queens in British history, is played by a black woman, and she appears in the regular historical drama "Anne Boleyn", which is hard not to complain.

Who was Anne Boleyn? She was the biological mother of Queen Elizabeth I, who ushered in Britain's "Golden Age"! Henry VIII's intention to divorce Queen Catherine and marry Anne Boleyn led to the Reformation, forever changing British history. And how could such a queen be black?

Is this an attempt to change the bloodline of the British royal family?

In any case, this "squinty-eyed" image has become the greatest malice that Westerners have towards Orientals. The most common way to insult Orientals in the West is to pull the corners of the eyes with both hands to make them squint.

Xiao Peng has lived in Europe for so many years and deeply detests such stereotypes. If anyone dares to make this gesture to Xiao Peng, there is no doubt that he will beat them up until they never dare to do that again!

But some people in the country are not ashamed of it but proud of it!

Just like when students from the Fashion Department of the Qinghua Academy of Fine Arts held a fashion design exhibition, all the models wore squinty-eyed makeup, which really disgusted many people in Daxia. But you can't criticize them. Criticizing them means that the public's aesthetic standards need to be improved - this is an international aesthetic trend.

So it’s good to play with art. No matter how ugly it is, it doesn’t matter. The word "high-end face" can cover it up. No matter what happens, you can use the word "art" as a fig leaf!

What's even funnier is that at the end of the design exhibition, not a single designer had this kind of squinty-eyed makeup. Some even tried their best to make their eyebrows look thicker and their eyes bigger...

From this we can see that they are not unaware of beauty and ugliness, so why do they still do this?

The reason is simple: people say this is an "international aesthetic trend." I designed this work for foreigners. If it catches their eye and wins an award, wouldn't that brighten my future? Even if I don't win, it increases my chances of working abroad, right?

As for those who have gone abroad, they will be more or less influenced by Western culture. In Europe, women wearing heavy Western-style makeup can be seen everywhere. Xiao Peng cannot say that they have done anything wrong. After all, Xiao Peng himself has to wear a suit and tie when attending a venue. There is nothing he can do about it.

But Xiao Peng was unhappy that Huang Jing put on makeup simply to cater to Western aesthetics, not to mention that when Huang Jing was with that group of motorcycle gangs, she lifted her clothes to expose her breasts and gave him the middle finger, which made Xiao Peng even more disgusted!

How could he possibly have feelings for her?

Xiao Peng was originally smiling, but when he saw these people, he immediately stopped smiling: "Huh? Why you? What are you doing here? What do you want from me?"
