Chapter 1583 Ono Akihiko's Little Plan

Chapter 1583 Ono Akihiko's Little Plan

Not only is Ono Akihiko not crazy, he can even be said to be frighteningly lucid.

As such a large shipping company, Marine Mitsui & Co., Ltd. has experienced countless shipwrecks, just as Xiao Peng expected, they happen every year!

If it were just a container ship accident, it would be fine, but what is Mitsui Shipping's specialty? Specialized transportation! They often carry all sorts of shady items that need to be transported secretly. Any accident involving such a ship is a disaster. The ship that ran aground in Aomori this time encountered exactly this problem.

Ono Akihiko came to Xiao Peng this time, on the one hand because his CIA father asked for "cooperation", and on the other hand he really wanted to get to know Xiao Peng.

As for the reason, it's a bit ridiculous - because Xiao Peng destroyed Gao Li's "golden rice bowl"!

What was Goryeo's "golden rice bowl"? It was their shipbuilding industry.

The world's shipbuilding industry, with the exception of Europe, is now largely divided up among the three East Asian countries. The European shipbuilding industry has been able to thrive in the past two years thanks to the ocean salvage craze sparked by Xiao Peng.

Some time ago, the French military, for some unknown reason, began investigating the Goryeo shipbuilding industry and its ships! Putting aside what's happening in Daxia, the Japanese side would laugh out loud in their dreams.

Many people began to criticize the French military, believing that this was a dirty trick to protect their shipbuilding industry, which was just starting to pick up: and this statement was also supported and recognized by many people - according to reliable sources, Germany is also conducting a risk assessment to decide whether to enact a bill to investigate Korean ships.

I guess the Koreans are probably crying in the toilet now.

Competition in the shipbuilding industry among the three East Asian nations was fierce, and Goryeo had long held the leading position. For a long time, Goryeo's shipbuilding industry could only be described as "terrifying." Whether it was per capita production efficiency, overall shipbuilding technology, or the international ranking of its shipyards, Goryeo was the undisputed leader.

Despite Japan's constant promotion of its "craftsmanship" and "Made in Japan," in terms of shipbuilding, it's a "little brother" compared to Korea. The same situation applies to semiconductors, mobile phones, weapons, and so on. Even electronics, once Japan's pride, have long been surpassed by Korea.

It's not surprising that this situation occurred: to use gaming terms, Dongying clicked on the wrong skill point.

As the first developed country in Asia, Japan was once the undisputed leader in Asia. Its economy was developing rapidly, and anything made in Japan was often described as "advanced" or "high-end." However, in recent years, Japan's development has slowed down. Many of its products, once the product of its time, have gone bankrupt, been restructured, or disappeared, and have been overtaken by Korea and Daxia. It is a true example of "getting up early and catching up late."

One of the main reasons for this situation is that they clicked the wrong skill points again and again.

The Japanese people seem to have a different way of thinking. From the fact that they turned the opening ceremony of the Olympics into a "tomb-opening ceremony", we can see that they particularly like to do something different - after all, if they really succeed, they may lead the world, right?

But the result every time is that I end up getting myself into trouble.

For example, the whole world is actively developing new energy vehicles. The whole world is using lead-acid batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries or lithium batteries, but the Japanese are not doing that. They are developing hydrogen energy.

They've been exploring hydrogen energy since the 1980s, and by the 1990s, they'd formulated the "World Energy Network Plan"—see, they were already aiming for global leadership back then. Their prime minister even elevated hydrogen energy to national policy! This has been going on for over 40 years!

And they are absolutely serious about hydrogen energy!

Currently, 83% of the world's hydrogen energy patents belong to Japanese companies. Toyota Motor alone holds 48% of the world's hydrogen energy vehicle patents!

Look, Huawei has become a thorn in the eyes of countries around the world and caused panic just because it owns 20% of the patents in the 5G field. However, it is okay for Japan to be the only dominant player in hydrogen energy - of course, this is also related to the fact that countries around the world are not optimistic about hydrogen energy.

Facts have also proved that all countries are very far-sighted. On July 7, 2021, Toyota Motor announced that it would suspend the production and research and development of hydrogen energy battery vehicles. This is equivalent to giving up the big trumpet that you have practiced for more than 40 years and starting to practice the small trumpet again when playing games.

Is hydrogen energy that easy to develop? Hydrogen's density is too low, making it prone to hydrogen embrittlement. Therefore, hydrogen requires specialized pipelines, costing roughly twice as much as natural gas pipelines! Furthermore, hydrogen storage is extremely expensive. Hydrogen tanks must withstand high pressures. Transporting 500 kilograms of hydrogen requires a 50-ton tank. How can this technology be applied to automobiles?

Some people might argue that using liquefied hydrogen is possible, which is true, but it would increase power consumption tenfold! That's not worth the cost! Furthermore, there's also the cost of building hydrogen stations and other ancillary equipment...

So, in the automotive industry, they chose the wrong skills. With the world's rapidly developing pure electric new energy vehicles, Japan is lagging far behind!

Another area where skill points were misplaced was in communications. For example, Japan chose the wrong skill points for 3G technology: they adopted multiple technologies in parallel but hesitated in the area of frequency division multiple access, which led to the subsequent lag in 4G and 5G technology and the decline of the mobile phone manufacturing industry.

Back then, Sharp, NEC, Casio, Panasonic, and Sony Ericsson were all famous phones. Sony Ericsson, in particular, held 9% of the global market share in 2007, making it the fourth-largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world. And then, because of one wrong skill point, it was gone. It was all gone!

The consequences of clicking the wrong skill points can be very scary, and the Japanese have made the same mistake again and again. This is also related to their personality. They always "gamble on the country's destiny": they have completely lost the bet in the field of new energy vehicles: in 2020, there will be more than 3 million electric vehicles in the world, and hydrogen energy vehicles have sold less than 10,000 units in total. The largest hydrogen energy manufacturer, Toyota, has sold a total of 1,900 units... But we need to thank them. If they hadn't added the wrong skill points, the development of Daxia's new energy vehicles might have been slower.

So, have they ever made the right additions? Of course they have! That’s when they added points to the shipbuilding industry.

Even though Goryeo was the dominant shipbuilding power back then, Japan resolutely invested in the industry and became one of the world's leading shipbuilding nations. This achievement required a massive investment of manpower and resources. Yet, despite this, they were constantly outperformed by Goryeo, and later by Daxia. How could they not be anxious?

What they wanted to see most was the decline of Goryeo's shipbuilding industry, and this was finally a glimpse of hope!
