Chapter 411 A Fake Stone
What's the most famous conspiracy theory in the world? It's whether the Americans actually landed on the moon.
One interesting point is that the people who believe this the most are the American people themselves. To this day, more than one-fifth of Americans still don't believe that Armstrong's moon landing was faked. They say it was a hoax fabricated by the government and NASA to deceive the Soviet Union, deceiving the whole world.
After China's "Chang'e 5" landed on the moon and collected lunar soil samples, the Chinese people cheered for the country's scientific and technological development. However, after the Americans learned the news, the hottest topic on the Internet was "Apollo program fraud."
To be honest, if we don't consider national issues, in Xiao Peng's eyes, the "Apollo Project" was a successful project.
From May 1961 to June 1972, it took the Americans 11 years to complete the Apollo Program, landing on the moon six times in total. It cost as much as 25.5 billion at that time, which accounted for more than 20% of the total scientific and technological research and development expenses that year!
During the program's implementation, employment growth was astonishing! At its peak, over 20,000 businesses, 200 universities, and 80 research institutes nationwide were contributing to the Apollo program, employing over 300,000 people. This period also marked the nation's most rapid development.
Yet, this massive scientific project has been shrouded in conspiracy theories since its inception. Half a century later, many still firmly believe that astronaut Neil Armstrong never walked on the moon on July 20, 1969, and that the footage was filmed on a studio set. This is a century-old scam perpetrated by politicians to defraud taxpayers. Even the popular animated film "Despicable Me" features a scene where Minions wander into a studio to film the moon landing, poking fun at the incident.
Well, anyone who thinks this way basically doesn't need to pay taxes... With that IQ, they basically can't earn enough money to pay taxes.
The key is that those conspiracy theorists have all sorts of excuses: Take the famous "fluttering Stars and Stripes" for example. They say there's no atmosphere and therefore no wind on the moon, so how could the Stars and Stripes flutter on the moon? It must have been blown up by a fan. Just look at the Chinese flag on the moon; it's as hard as a board and doesn't flutter at all!
Please, the Chinese national flag planted on the moon was manufactured by China Trade Group in collaboration with many textile universities. It took a total of eight years to make such a flag, in order to prevent the flag from fluttering like the American flag.
The national flag used by the Americans back then was just an ordinary flag. They considered the problem that the flag could not be unfolded on the moon because there was no wind, so they specially made a horizontal bar on the flagpole to form an inverted 'L' shape to facilitate the unfolding of the flag. However, the moon is in a vacuum state, and when the flagpole is inserted into the soil, the flag will inevitably fluctuate. This fluctuation will last for a period of time, so people can see the old American flag fluttering in space in the photo.
It is very simple to expose this lie. Just find a bottle that can create a vacuum environment and put a small flag in it to simulate the environment at that time, and you will know that it is normal for the national flag to flutter.
But do you expect trolls to have brains? Haha…
Some people say the photo doesn't show stars because the background is completely dark. This photo was taken in a darkened studio. The starry sky was painted black for convenience. Those who say this, please look at other countries' moon landing photos. Does anyone actually see a starry sky in any of them?
I believe these trolls can understand this. After all, most of them don’t have a good life. But if they buy a good camera and study photography and videography techniques, they will understand how ridiculous this statement is!
The moon's surface has no atmosphere, so the sunlight is incredibly strong. How do you capture something clearly under such intense light? You need to use a very small aperture and a very short exposure time. Want to capture a starry sky under such conditions? Young man, the future of photography on Earth depends on you! Develop a camera that can do this!
These statements are not the most interesting. The most interesting one is: According to their life experience, in order to leave clear footprints on Earth, the soil must be moist, but the soil on the moon has no water. How can astronauts leave such clear footprints?
This statement sounds correct, but it overlooks a serious problem: these people's "life experience" is life experience on Earth, not on the Moon. Is the soil on the Moon the same as the soil on Earth? If so, why bring back soil from the Moon for research?
Although both are soil, the particle size difference between the two is very different! The lunar soil particles are small and irregular in shape, which makes them stick together easily. They don't even need water to form footprints!
Using life experience on Earth to judge the truth or falsity of what happens on the moon?
High! Really high!
The Soviet Union retrieved soil and core samples from the moon three times. They exchanged the soil samples brought back by "Luna 16" with the soil samples brought back by the American Apollo 11 and 12, and then conducted research.
During the Cold War, the Soviet Union was the one most eager to expose the Americans' "moon landing hoax" and embarrass them. However, Soviet analysis later confirmed that the soil samples brought back by the Americans were genuine.
But no matter what, even today there are still many people who believe that the Americans did not land on the moon. Some even say that the moon landing machine was real, but the people who went there were fake...
Anyway, trolls all over the world are the same and will not let go.
From a rational point of view, it is understandable why they do this. After all, everyone wants to be extraordinary. Everyone longs to be different from others from the bottom of their hearts. The inner extraordinary and the mediocrity in reality form a sharp contrast, so they rely on some "everyone is drunk but I am sober" views to attract people's attention.
All trolls are pathetic.
However, the statistic that one-fifth of Americans don't trust their own government's scientific research is terrifying! How can a country develop if its people don't trust their own government?
The fake stone that the Americans gave to the Netherlands remains an unsolved case to this day, but the most likely possibility is that the American ambassador at the time fooled the Dutch Prime Minister.
After the Americans landed on the moon, they launched a "soil diplomacy" initiative. After Armstrong's return, Nixon donated lunar soil to 135 countries and regions around the world. In 1973, the donations were repeated, but all the soil was sealed in acrylic containers, with each country receiving only a few grams. How could they have given the Netherlands a multi-kilogram rock?
As for why Douglas asked Xiao Peng for seabed soil, Xiao Peng actually knew about it!
