Chapter 10, Heart-to-Heart Talk

Chapter 10, Heart-to-Heart Talk

For lunch, Li Donghao made four dishes and a soup. Zhang Youyou suddenly felt that Li Donghao valued her quite a bit, since there was only one more dish and a soup after her grandfather came. However, she didn't dare to say anything, afraid that her grandfather would be angry.

Although Grandpa wasn't angry about the food, his expression wasn't very pleasant.

She knew that what she said would hurt her grandfather's feelings, but she didn't want to ruin her own life and Li Donghao's life because of foolish filial piety. Their lives were still so long, and they shouldn't let a joke from the two families' elders ruin them.

To cheer up her grandfather, Zhang Youyou served him food and soup, and praised Li Donghao's cooking skills. Seeing that she was forcing a smile to make him happy, her grandfather had no choice but to smile back.

Grandpa was going to stay at a hotel that night. Li Donghao and Zhang Youyou wanted him to stay there, but the house only had two bedrooms, which was inconvenient. So Zhang Youyou volunteered to go back to school, but Grandpa stopped him, saying that since it was a rare holiday, he should rest at home. So Li Donghao took Grandpa to the hotel, and when he returned, Zhang Youyou was waiting for him in the living room.

"What's wrong? You seem preoccupied. Did Grandpa scold you?" Li Donghao put the keys in the storage basket and walked towards her.

She rarely looked so serious; it seemed that today's events were quite grave.

Zhang Youyou patted the seat next to her, signaling him to come over. Li Donghao walked over without hesitation and sat down next to her. Seeing that she was barefoot, her feet crossed on the carpet, Li Donghao arranged her shoes and told her to put them on.

"It's not cold," Zhang Youyou said.

"You still need to be careful!" Li Donghao said. Zhang Youyou had no choice but to obediently put her feet on the slippers and continue crossing them. Li Donghao didn't say anything more.

"What do you want to say?" Seeing that she didn't speak for a long time, Li Donghao finally asked. Zhang Youyou looked at him curiously.

How did you know I had something to say?

Lee Dong-ho: "Your expression has given you away! So, what is it?"

Zhang Youyou, who had been relaxed, suddenly became tense. Her crossed feet obediently stepped on her slippers, and her hands hung limply on her legs.

Li Donghao looked him up and down and asked, "You're nervous?"

He said it on purpose to ease Zhang Youyou's tension, and it worked surprisingly well. She retorted sharply, "Who are you calling nervous?"

Li Donghao didn't argue, got up and got her a drink, and got himself a bottle of water. "Have some, calm down!"

Although she said she was fine, she still drank half a bottle of grape juice. Because she drank too much, some juice even dripped from the corners of her mouth, and Li Donghao handed her a tissue.

"Thank you!" She screwed the bottle cap on, gripped the bottle with both hands as if gathering strength, and finally spoke a minute later, startling Li Donghao.

She asked, "Do you have a girlfriend?"

Lee Dong-ho leaned back, asking warily, "What do you mean?"

Zhang Youyou squeezed the bottle so hard it made a cracking sound. Li Donghao was a little worried about his neck, so he carefully moved to the side.

"What are you going to do? You're not planning to kill me right after Grandpa passed away, are you?"

"Of course not!" Zhang Youyou retorted. "What I mean is, if you had a girlfriend, Grandpa wouldn't have insisted that we be together." Perhaps afraid that he would misunderstand, she secretly added, "I don't want to hold you back."

So that's why. They've known about the arranged marriage since they were little, but she and Dongshuo were too young to care. He, on the other hand, has his own thoughts, but it's not convenient for him to say them now.

"What are you thinking? Choosing between me and Dong-seok, or..."

Zhang Youyou lowered her head, seemingly feeling somewhat down, and replied in a muffled voice, "If possible, we can each make our own choice. If not, I'll get a marriage certificate with him."

The mineral water bottle slipped from my hand with a dull thud, and the loose cap was knocked off, wetting most of the carpet.
