Chapter 116, Teasing
Li Donghao's words did not make Zhang Youyou very happy. Although the two were no longer at odds (mainly due to Zhang Youyou's one-sided attacks), they appeared together less and less often. Li Donghao was indeed very busy, so busy that the two could not see each other more than three times a week. Although Zhang Youyou had been living in his house, he rarely came back. Sometimes Zhang Youyou suspected that he had forgotten that he even had a home.
"Why are you looking so downcast? Were you scared by the old professor's random inspection?" Li Yanyan asked curiously.
Liu Ping's eyes swept over Zhang Youyou, then she silently lowered her head to eat.
"Of course not." She just hadn't seen Li Donghao in a long time and missed him a little, but she couldn't tell them that.
"What is that? Is it because you're worried about Christmas next week?"
"Christmas?"
Li Yanyan clicked her tongue in disapproval as she looked at the puzzled expression on her face.
"Seriously? You even forgot Christmas?"
Zhang Youyou looked at Liu Ping and Cheng Qiu with a confused expression. Cheng Qiu shrugged, "Anyway, I don't have anyone to give me a gift, so Christmas doesn't really concern me."
Liu Ping added, "There might be activities for Christmas, and I'll consider adding more classes."
Zhang Youyou couldn't help but twitch her lips as she looked at her. Her figure was already so good, why was she still working out? Did she want to become a bodybuilder Barbie? Just thinking about that image made Zhang Youyou lose her appetite.
"Can't you guys be a little more mindful? University isn't just for attending classes, exercising, and joining clubs. You guys should meet some men too!" Half a semester has passed, and she's the only one in the entire dorm who's single. She's so lonely.
"Meeting men? I see them all the time at the gym, but most of them are trainers. Not many of them can stick with it," Liu Ping said helplessly.
"Is it possible that you're going there too often?" Li Yanyan asked, squinting her eyes.
Liu Ping shook her head and continued eating in silence. Li Yanyan then turned her gaze to Zhang Youyou and leaned closer to ask, "Tell me, how are things between you and Meng Xiao? Ever since he came to see you last time, I haven't heard you mention him again. What's going on between you two?"
Zhang Youyou poked at her rice listlessly and replied calmly, "What else could it be? We're just ordinary friends. We don't see each other much because finals are coming up soon. Are you two already planning something?"
These words might work on others, but they had no effect on Li Yanyan. She narrowed her eyes again, scrutinizing Zhang Youyou's face as if trying to discern something.
What are you doing?
Seeing that she was about to get close to him, Zhang Youyou quickly distanced himself.
Li Yanyan pretended to stroke her chin, half-thinking and half-coaxing, "You've been staying at Assistant Li's house lately, but as far as I know, he's been in the lab all this time. Besides, you two had a fight before, and now you've inexplicably moved in. Something seems a bit off."
Upon hearing this, Cheng Qiu and Liu Ping immediately stopped eating and turned their attention to Zhang Youyou. Zhang Youyou blushed instantly. This scene did not escape Li Yanyan's eyes. As if she had discovered a new continent, she continued, "Hey, I told you there was a problem. Tell me the truth, what's going on between you two?"
Zhang Youyou turned her head away awkwardly and mumbled, "What could possibly happen between us? Don't make wild guesses!"
"Whether it's just my guess or it's true, only you two know. But it's a good thing if you two are really together. Anyway, I'm rooting for you two!" Li Yanyan said generously.
Zhang Youyou turned around curiously, tugged at her sleeve, and asked, "Really? You really think we're a good match?"
Li Yanyan forcibly suppressed the slight twitch at the corner of her mouth, cleared her throat and said, "Of course, in our school, if we're talking about who else is good enough for him, besides me, it's just the three of you. But you're lucky, you grew up with him, so I'll give you this bargain!"
Zhang Youyou thought she was going to say something nice, but it turned out she was just teasing her. She pulled her hand back, moved the plate aside a little, and ate her food in silence.
The three exchanged glances and simultaneously turned their gazes to her, only to look away a moment later.
