Chapter 127, Testing
Whether you want to or not, you have to face it eventually.
After washing up and changing clothes, Zhang Youyou came out to eat. Usually very talkative, she was unusually quiet today because of what happened last night.
Li Donghao set breakfast on the table, served her porridge and gave her a spoon. Zhang Youyou accepted his care as a matter of course until she started eating, at which point Li Donghao finally spoke.
"yesterday……"
The hot porridge burned Zhang Youyou so much that he spat it out.
A tissue appeared in front of her, and Zhang Youyou took it with her head down, wiped her mouth haphazardly a few times, and then lost her appetite.
Why can't you say something happy when you're up so early in the morning?
"I'm not eating anymore." Zhang Youyou put down the tissue and got up to leave, but Li Donghao stopped her. Zhang Youyou turned her head away and refused to look at him.
Li Donghao wasn't annoyed. He smiled and hugged her. Seeing that she didn't struggle, he lowered his head and whispered in her ear, "Yesterday was Christmas Eve, and you didn't put your socks by the bed!"
Zhang Youyou looked at him in surprise. Because they were so close, her lips brushed against his face when she turned her head. Zhang Youyou blushed even more and tried to push his waist with both hands, but unfortunately, the difference in their strength was too great, and she couldn't move him at all.
"Li Donghao!" Zhang Youyou called his name in dissatisfaction. He just smiled and echoed her. Zhang Youyou was both ashamed and annoyed, but she couldn't escape, so she could only hide in his arms and sulk.
He was clearly a mature and steady adult, so why has he become so childish?
The two hugged for a while, and Li Donghao said he would spend the whole day with her and asked if there was anything she wanted to do. Zhang Youyou remembered the car he gave her yesterday, so she said she wanted to learn to drive, but Li Donghao refused.
“I only have one day. Wouldn’t it be a waste to just learn to drive? I want to do something else, like go out and have fun, or go on a date!” He emphasized the word “date” so much that Zhang Youyou’s face almost bled.
"I'm not going on a date! There aren't any handsome guys, so I'm not going!" Zhang Youyou retorted stubbornly. Li Donghao wasn't annoyed; he just hugged her and told her there was a gift under her pillow. Zhang Youyou looked at him in surprise and, taking advantage of his inattention, escaped from his arms and ran straight to the bedroom.
Although she wouldn't admit it, her body language betrayed her. Since that was the case, he wasn't in a hurry.
Back in her room, she removed the pillow and saw a large red envelope. She took out a stack of red bills from it. She hadn't expected him to give such a practical gift. Zhang Youyou couldn't help but smile, but she cleared her throat and pretended not to care.
He took the red envelope out the door, placed it on the dining table, looked at Li Donghao, and said, "Is this all your gift?"
"Don't you like it?" Li Donghao stopped eating and looked up at her.
Zhang Youyou said nonchalantly, "It's not that I don't like it, it's just that there's too little!"
It was rare for her to be willing to bargain with him here, so Li Donghao became interested.
"So how much do you think is the right amount?"
Zhang Youyou thought for a moment and said, "The dormitory is too small, and your place is too crowded. I think..." Zhang Youyou didn't finish her sentence, but instead raised her eyebrows at him. Li Donghao immediately understood.
"You want to buy a house here? But that shouldn't be my responsibility, should it?"
"Didn't you say you would...buy a house for me?" She didn't say the last three words.
Lee Dong-ho knew what she meant and deliberately asked, "For whom?"
Zhang Youyou bit her lip, unable to bring herself to say the words "other half".
Li Donghao casually took a sip of water, but his eyes remained fixed on her. Zhang Youyou was speechless under his gaze. She stomped her foot in embarrassment and turned to leave, but he grabbed her hand.
"Alright, alright, I won't tease you anymore!" With a strong pull, Zhang Youyou fell directly onto his lap, and Li Donghao immediately wrapped her in his arms.
"I live close to the school and I'm not home much, so you can do whatever you want. Just one thing: you can't touch the study; there are a lot of documents in there."
Zhang Youyou understood this even if he didn't say it. Her earlier comment about wanting him to buy her a house was just a joke, because she honestly didn't know what she wanted, but she didn't want to let him off easily. It was like a test, probing where his bottom line was. Now it seemed she hadn't figured it out yet.
