Chapter 166, Taking Things
Although she spoke with her mother on the phone last night, she had to go home to get some things and also explain to her mother that they sleep separately.
Zhang Youyou also felt it was a bit unnecessary, but there was nothing she could do, since the two of them were still in the stage of evaluating each other—but this was only her opinion.
"We haven't arranged the flowers we bought yesterday yet. Take a look and see where we can put them when we get back!" Li Donghao said as he drove back. "And those 'Fu' characters, do you think we have enough? Do you want to buy some more?"
Zhang Youyou leaned back in his seat, utterly dejected, and replied, "You're even more nagging than my mom!"
He wanted to raise his hand to slap her while holding the gear lever, but considering his unstable position, he had to give up.
"It's all because you ignored me! How many words have you said to me since I left the house? Not even a kiss on the way out!" Li Donghao complained to her like a young girl who had just entered into a relationship, which gave Zhang Youyou goosebumps.
She moved aside with disdain, giving him a wary look. "Can't you be normal for once?"
To be honest, Zhang Youyou had never seen him like this before.
"Sure!" Li Donghao resumed his serious demeanor. "Then you'll get a permanent position!"
Zhang Youyou glanced at him and said disdainfully, "I've already agreed to move in, what more do you want?"
He parked the car in the parking space, stepped on the brake, pulled the handbrake, turned around and looked at her seriously, saying, "Of course, you'll introduce me to your parents!"
Zhang Youyou was shocked that he was going to go so far. To be honest, she still didn't know how to tell her grandfather, let alone her parents. Absolutely not. Zhang Youyou made a big "X" with her arms in front of her chest.
After locking the car, Li Donghao wanted to go upstairs with her, but she stopped him, leaving Li Donghao puzzled.
It would have been fine to let him come upstairs, but after hearing what he said just now, Zhang Youyou was afraid he would let something slip, so she didn't dare to take the risk.
"If I don't go up, do you expect Auntie to bring your things down for you? Just let me go up, don't be so stingy with Auntie!" Li Donghao understood what she meant and immediately humbled himself.
Zhang Youyou was powerless to resist his childish behavior and could only let it be.
The two returned to the Zhang family home, where Zhang's mother was arranging kumquats. They had been placed on the balcony, but the temperature was too low, so she moved them inside. Zhang's mother was considering where to put them when they returned. Zhang Youyou pointed to the side next to the TV cabinet and said that it was a good spot, so Li Donghao moved them there.
"Don't bother!" Zhang's mother gestured for Li Donghao to sit down, and went to make him tea and wash fruit, but Li Donghao quickly stopped her.
Zhang Youyou didn't want to go through all that trouble, so she quickly grabbed her.
"Actually, I came back to get some things," Zhang Youyou explained. Although her relationship with her parents was distant, she had lived here for a while, and it was still a bit awkward to suddenly say she was moving out. But seeing Li Donghao's expectant eyes, she could only clench her fists and go for it.
“I’m going to stay at his place soon.” She pointed a finger at Li Donghao from her clenched fist.
Zhang's mother naturally knew what Li's grandfather was thinking, but they hoped that Zhang Youyou would choose someone he liked. However, it seems that he may have already chosen someone.
They were satisfied with Li Donghao, but they were afraid that he wouldn't be satisfied with Zhang Youyou, and that their daughter would be disappointed. But now it seems that things might not be as they imagined.
"Okay, you can handle it yourself, but it might be a bit of a hassle for Donghao!" Zhang's mother said to Li Donghao with a smile. Li Donghao immediately stood up and politely said it was no trouble at all.
"Youyou grew up in your family since he was little, and you've really gone to a lot of trouble for him all these years!" Zhang's mother said to Li Donghao. "Thank you for taking care of him!"
"We're all family, so let's not be formal. Grandpa and we would love for Youyou to stay at the Li family's house forever!"
Zhang Youyou glanced at him suspiciously, then turned to pack her things.
Saying I was packing my things was just a matter of stuffing in the clothes I brought back from school, and also bringing two new outfits.
I didn't realize it before, but now I've found that I have a lot more daily necessities than I did in the few days I've stayed here since I came back.
