Chapter 181, Peace and Joy
Because of what Li Donghao said, Zhang Youyou lost her mood to play, and the two of them stayed there for a while before returning to the hotel.
After a long day of travel, she needed to rest early. They were going to stay here for a few days, so there was no rush. However, Li Donghao's question made her anxious.
She forgot how she answered, only vaguely remembering that she said, "I'm not old enough."
Yes, she's too young, and more importantly, she's not ready to move on to the next stage of her life, so let's leave it at that for now.
Fortunately, Li Donghao didn't pressure her. After returning to her room, Zhang Youyou awkwardly went to the bathroom, saying she was washing up, but she had actually been in there for over an hour. Was she planning to wash herself raw?
Not wanting her to mistreat herself, Li Donghao knocked on the door, saying he was going downstairs to buy something and asked her not to open the door randomly, saying he would call her when he got back. Zhang Youyou replied sullenly, and only breathed a sigh of relief when she heard the door close.
What should she do? She didn't know how to face him.
Because of Li Donghao's sudden confession, Zhang Youyou, who is usually carefree, rarely showed her girlish side. Not only did she stop acting cute with him, but she also became well-behaved when eating and sleeping, which made Li Donghao feel uncomfortable.
He confessed his feelings because that time and that scene made him want to spend his life with her, but now it seems that his plan has backfired.
"We're going to the temple tomorrow as planned. Here's the route map, take a look!" Li Donghao handed his phone to Zhang Youyou, who was eating quietly. Zhang Youyou took the phone, looked at it, and nodded.
"Don't eat meat or strong-smelling foods tomorrow morning," Li Donghao reminded them, adding that they should also bring a jacket because the temple is surrounded by mountains.
Zhang Youyou handed the phone back to him and continued nodding.
Seeing her like this, Li Donghao felt a little uncomfortable, but there was nothing he could do but endure it for the time being.
The next morning, Li Donghao got up early to prepare things. By the time Zhang Youyou woke up, he was already ready and had even ordered breakfast for her. Zhang Youyou obediently washed up, ate something, and then went out with him.
The advantage of a road trip is that it's convenient. For example, right now, Zhang Youyou is dozing off in the passenger seat, without worrying at all that the driver might have ulterior motives—of course, the driver may not be a very kind person, but at least he knows her well.
The temple was on a mountain, and the car could only be parked in the parking lot at the foot of the mountain. Li Donghao told her to put on her coat and hat and come up the mountain with him.
It only takes half an hour to get from the foot of the mountain to the temple, but for Zhang Youyou it was more tiring than running 800 meters. In the second half of the journey, Li Donghao practically carried her up.
"I can't take it anymore!" Zhang Youyou refused to move from the steps at the temple entrance, so Li Donghao had no choice but to patiently stay with her.
"Would you like some water?" Li Donghao handed her the water glass that had been unscrewed. Zhang Youyou was too weak to hold it, so she could only drink a little water by leaning on his hand.
After closing the lid, Li Donghao helped her wipe her sweat.
While the two were resting, an elderly monk came out. He bowed to them and then offered them two red ropes. Zhang Youyou thought he was trying to scam them and immediately waved his hand to refuse, until the monk said that they were a gift for them.
Lee Dong-ho asked why they were given this. The monk said it was a red string for good luck and protection. Lee Dong-ho looked at him, took it, and thanked him. The head monk smiled and wished them health, peace, and a happy marriage! Then he turned and went back to the temple.
Zhang Youyou stared in the direction he left, filled with curiosity.
Li Donghao believed it without a doubt. He tied one of the red strings to her left wrist, but Zhang Youyou interrupted him as he was about to tie it to his own. She took the red string and carefully tied it for him. Li Donghao looked at the red string and then at her, unable to hide the smile on his lips.
After resting for a while, the two went into the temple together. They learned about the general situation from the monks, visited the various halls, and offered incense. Before leaving, Li Donghao asked for a peace charm and solemnly presented it to Zhang Youyou in front of the main hall, praying that the gods and Buddhas would bless her with health, safety, and a peaceful life.
