Chapter 22, Taking Care

Chapter 22, Taking Care

When Zhang Youyou rummaged through the bag, she discovered that he had not only bought brown sugar, but also hand warmers and menstrual pads. For a moment, she didn't know whether to praise him for being thoughtful or say that he knew too much.

"The shop assistant said I might need it, so I bought it," Li Donghao explained.

Words of gratitude welled up in her mouth, but she swallowed them back down. She shouldn't have believed he had that gentle and considerate persona. However, considering he at least offered advice, Zhang Youyou still said thank you.

As she picked up her bag to go back to her room, Li Donghao suddenly called out to her. Zhang Youyou turned around, puzzled, and heard him ask, "Should we turn the temperature up a bit?"

Although it's not yet late autumn, the weather has already turned cool, especially with a large temperature difference between day and night. However, his house has good sunlight and ventilation, so he doesn't need to turn on the air conditioner. But because of her current situation, Li Donghao still asked.

Zhang Youyou parted her red lips slightly and said in a light voice, "No need."

Turning back and taking another step, I heard Li Donghao's slightly embarrassed and somewhat urgent voice say, "Your dorm rooms all have upper bunks, so you can come stay here when it's inconvenient."

Zhang Youyou froze for three seconds, then hurriedly ran back to her room as if being chased by something. The door slammed shut behind her, and Zhang Youyou felt her heart was about to jump out of her chest.

What's going on? It's already awkward enough that she runs into her aunt while staying at his house, does that mean her aunt will have to come to his house every month when she gets her period? How is she supposed to live? Even though she's embarrassed herself in front of him so many times, she still wants to try.

She tried to struggle, but Li Donghao gave up.

After watching Zhang Youyou return to her room, he paused for a moment before realizing what he had said. His face flushed, and he turned and went to the study.

He clearly said he wanted to take it slow, so what is he doing?

I paced around the study again and again until I was almost dizzy before pulling up a chair and sitting down, supporting my forehead with one hand to feel my burning body temperature.

He's gone mad.

Fortunately, he hadn't completely lost his senses. About half an hour later, after drinking most of a bottle of mineral water he had taken from the refrigerator, he called the housekeeper.

When she was at home, she had people to take care of her. They knew her situation well and knew what to do, so she had to ask them for advice.

Holding the phone in one hand and a pen in the other to take notes, I wrote down all the important points before hanging up after saying thank you.

Looking at the full page of paper, Li Donghao fell into deep thought. It turned out she was so difficult to please.

He left the study intending to make her a cup of brown sugar water, but she brought all her things back to her room. Speechless, Li Donghao had no choice but to knock on her door. A moment later, she timidly peeked out, her face pale. Li Donghao disregarded everything else and pushed open the door to support her.

"What's wrong? Does your stomach hurt?"

Zhang Youyou, who was usually full of energy, was in so much pain that she couldn't speak. Her hands were pressed tightly against her stomach, and large beads of sweat slid down her fair cheeks. Without saying a word, Li Donghao carried her back to bed, pulled the blanket over her tightly, and held her in his arms.

"How are you? Do you need to go to the hospital?"

Zhang Youyou was in so much pain that she could only shake her head with difficulty.

Li Donghao glanced at her and saw her put the bag on the cabinet. He first helped her lean against the bed, then plugged in the hand warmer, and took some brown sugar to the kitchen. A little while later, he brought in a bowl of hot brown sugar water.

Li Donghao sat on the bed and held her in his arms, wrapping his arms around her, holding a bowl in one hand and a spoon in the other to feed her brown sugar water.

"Be careful, it's hot. Drink slowly!" Li Donghao, who was usually serious and aloof, showed a rare tenderness at this moment. Zhang Youyou was probably in so much pain that she didn't resist his approach and was as obedient as a harmless kitten.

After feeding her a bowl of brown sugar water, the warm compress was ready. Li Donghao helped her lie down, found a new towel, wrapped the warm compress in it, and placed it on her stomach. He asked her if it was too hot. Zhang Youyou mumbled that it wasn't.

"Sleep! The pain will go away when you're asleep!" Li Donghao coaxed gently, his dry, large hands kneading her small hands. She fell asleep in no time.
