Chapter 31, Express Delivery

Chapter 31, Express Delivery

Zhang Youyou originally bought so many things to make things easier for him while she stayed at his place, but unexpectedly, she was called over to pick up packages because of the sheer volume of deliveries—more than a dozen a day! No wonder Li Donghao was furious. But she couldn't really blame herself; girls naturally need more things.

Two people carried more than a dozen packages upstairs in a small cart, while Zhang Youyou hid to the side, not daring to speak.

The stroller was bought by Li Donghao. He didn't have one originally, but he bought it because Zhang Youyou had too many things and he wanted to avoid climbing the stairs so many times. Although he brought her along, she only helped carry things when needed, and he did the rest of the work himself, which made Zhang Youyou feel a little embarrassed.

This was her third time staying here, and based on her previous two experiences, she was very well-behaved this time, unusually so.

"What are all these things? I asked you to buy clothes, and you bought so many... dolls?" Li Donghao looked at the rabbit, turtle, and crab on the sofa and felt a little dizzy.

Zhang Youyou shrank her neck and continued unpacking the package in her hand, explaining, "I can't help it, I can't sleep without holding the doll."

"Where's your little dinosaur?" He remembered that he had prepared it for her before.

Zhang Youyou stammered, "One isn't enough."

Okay, she won.

Li Donghao went back to his room to change his clothes. When he came out, there were several more dolls on the sofa. Li Donghao patted his chest and tried to calm himself down.

He should have known long ago that Zhang Youyou had a girlish personality, her home was full of toys, and her school dormitory was small, so she couldn't fit many of them in. Although this place wasn't very spacious either, it was much better than the dormitory. Oh well, let her do whatever she wants.

After unpacking all the packages, with Li Donghao's help, Zhang Youyou sent all the dolls to the washing machine to be washed. As for the newly bought clothes, they obviously couldn't be washed in the washing machine, so Zhang Youyou had to sit pitifully in the bathroom and wash them in a basin. When Li Donghao came over and saw that she hadn't finished washing a single piece of clothing, he knew he couldn't count on her. So he waved his hand and told her to go outside and that he would wash the clothes for her. Zhang Youyou ran out happily, but ran back in less than a minute. When they looked at each other, they were both embarrassed.

Her underwear was among the packages that arrived today. It was soaking in a basin with other clothes, and Li Donghao was washing it by hand.

Zhang Youyou felt like she had a mouthful of blood stuck in her throat, unable to spit it out or swallow it down, making it hard for her to breathe.

Li Donghao only regretted not buying blood pressure medication.

"I've already showered, you can leave now." Having no other choice, Li Donghao had to tell the truth. He'd already bought her sanitary napkins and underwear; there was probably nothing he couldn't afford.

Zhang Youyou stood at the door, unsure whether to go in or leave, her face flushed red as if it were about to bleed, but her mind was completely blank.

Li Donghao seemed to understand her situation, but he didn't say much. He just silently helped her wash her clothes and took the washed doll to the balcony to dry. By the time he finished, it was almost midnight. Li Donghao urged Zhang Youyou to take a shower. This time, she didn't borrow any clothes from him, but all the clothes she had worn before were already washed and hanging in her closet.

Lying in bed, Zhang Youyou fell into deep thought. She was someone who rarely reflected on herself, but recent events made her think more. After all, Li Donghao had not only not pursued her mistakes but had also been helping her all along. Even if she was heartless, she should know how to repay his kindness. But what could she do to help him?

In terms of education, she wasn't as well-educated as him; in terms of cooking skills, she wasn't as good as him; in terms of income, she wasn't as high as him... After thinking it over and over, she couldn't find a way to repay him. She was such a failure.

Lying on his side in bed, holding his toy dinosaur, Zhang Youyou scoffed at his own ignorance and incompetence.

I used to be willful and self-centered when I was at home. But after stepping out of the ivory tower, I realized that I was actually worthless. This is probably the price of growing up.
