Chapter 34, Grievance

Chapter 34, Grievance

Zhang Youyou didn't say anything the whole way, just sat quietly in the car and went upstairs with him. He told her to take a shower, so she went to the bathroom, but before going in, she didn't forget to take her wet phone out of her pocket and put it on the dining table.

Li Donghao understood what she meant. He had caused her to fall into the water and broken her phone, so he had to compensate her.

Seeing her phone reminded Li Donghao of his own. He fumbled around for a while but couldn't find it. After thinking for a long time, he finally remembered that his phone was in the office. He had put it on the table when he was being questioned by Teacher Jiang and the counselor, and he hadn't taken it with him when he left.

"Never mind." He waved his hand helplessly, turned around and went to the bedroom to get a change of clothes. When he came out, he saw the bathroom door open a crack, and a fair little hand reached out from inside. Li Donghao felt that the action was inexplicably familiar. After thinking for a while, he went to the second bedroom, took out a set of pink pajamas from the closet and handed them over. As soon as he got the clothes, the person inside pulled him in. Li Donghao stood there and couldn't help but curl the corners of his mouth.

After Zhang Youyou came out, Li Donghao went to take a shower. Whether it was because she was angry or because she had been soaking in the lake, Zhang Youyou felt cold all over. Even with the air conditioner set to 30 degrees Celsius, she was still cold. She took a blanket from the room and wrapped it around herself, curling up on the sofa looking pitiful like a wooden tub.

When Li Donghao came out, Zhang Youyou was still sitting there, a large blanket covering her whole body, with only her head showing. Li Donghao walked over, touched her head, and asked if she was scared. Hearing the voice, Zhang Youyou turned her head to look at him, her wet and red eyes filled with grievance. Li Donghao's heart sank, and he involuntarily walked over and pulled her into his arms.

"I'm sorry!" His voice was unusually gentle.

Perhaps it was the warmth of his embrace, or perhaps it was the gentleness of his voice, but Zhang Youyou, who had been holding on, finally couldn't hold back her tears. This was the greatest injustice she had ever suffered in her life.

When she was tired from crying, she fell asleep hugging his waist. Lee Dong-ho's cotton pajamas, soaked with her tears, clung to his body and felt icy cold.

Gently prying her hands open, Li Donghao slowly squatted down and picked her up. As a result, a doll fell out of the blanket. Li Donghao looked down and saw a little white rabbit lying on the carpet, looking aggrieved, face down.

Even when she was wronged, she would just hug her doll for warmth. Zhang Youyou, how much do you love dolls?

He carried her back to the bedroom, pulled off the blanket, put the little dinosaur in her arms, and finally covered her with the blanket. He then sat on the edge of the bed with her.

Time seemed to stand still in the room as he stared at her profile, bitter tear stains still visible despite the hot towel he had used to wipe them away.

He didn't know anything about Teacher Jiang's USB drive either. Teacher Jiang only asked him a few questions after he got to the office, and he just told the truth. Even if he lied, the surveillance footage in the corridor wouldn't be faked. Besides, they were upright and honest, and they weren't afraid to tell the truth. It was just that Zhang Youyou was wronged.

He originally intended to investigate privately, but Teacher Jiang insisted that he just need to bring the person over for a few questions. As a result, the questions were asked, but the person also fell into the lake. If he hadn't been there, the consequences would have been unimaginable. This person almost drove a young girl to jump into the lake because of something with absolutely no evidence; he's truly vicious.

He gently brushed her temples with his large hand, tucking stray hairs behind her ears. He used to think she could only be quiet for a moment when she was asleep, but now he wished she would chatter and make a ruckus at home every day, because at least she was happy then.

"Was I wrong?" Li Donghao murmured softly, his large hand stroking her soft face again and again, the struggle in his heart growing louder.

He once thought he could protect her for a lifetime, but now it seems that he is the one who hurts her every time. Should he give up?
