Chapter 35, Cell Phone
Fortunately, the next day was Saturday, so Zhang Youyou and Li Donghao could stay home without worry. However, since he hadn't brought his phone back, and her phone was soaked, Li Donghao took her back to school first on Saturday. She went back to her dormitory to get her ID card, while Li Donghao went to the office to get his phone. After a day and a night, his phone only had 10% battery left. Li Donghao was thinking of charging it in the car and was about to leave when he suddenly remembered something. He sat back down in his seat, opened all the drawers and cabinets to check them, and only after confirming that nothing had been touched did he close and lock them. His gaze then shifted to Teacher Jiang's desk.
Professor Jiang's desk was to his right and behind. Since they weren't in the same department, he didn't know much about her coursework, but her desk was often piled high with various reference materials, so it was quite normal for her desk to be covered in or knocked to the floor by the materials. Thinking of this, Li Donghao walked over.
At this moment, the documents on Teacher Jiang's desk were neatly stacked to one side. Li Donghao looked left and right, even checking the gap between the two stacks of documents, to make sure there was nothing there. He then looked at the floor, which was clean and there wasn't even a piece of paper on it, so it hadn't fallen to the ground. So where was the USB drive?
After wandering around the office twice without finding any clues, Li Donghao had no choice but to leave with his phone, locking the door behind him.
Zhang Youyou definitely didn't do the USB drive incident; it's just that he doesn't have any evidence right now.
They had reviewed the surveillance footage. The last person to leave the office was Zhang Youyou, and the next to enter was Teacher Jiang. No one else came or went in between, making Zhang Youyou the prime suspect. However, he knew Zhang Youyou too well; she wouldn't do such a thing. But she wouldn't accept being wrongly accused, and if she made a scene, things could get complicated. So, he wanted to resolve the matter before she personally cleared her name. But how? The USB drive was missing, and the surveillance footage couldn't prove anything—it was a problem of the century.
Frustrated, he scratched his head and strode toward the parking lot. Before his phone went out, he instinctively dialed her number, only to remember that her phone was broken and he hadn't bought a new one yet. So he opened WeChat, found her roommate's WeChat account, and typed a message to her.
"Have Zhang Youyou come to the parking lot to find me."
After sending the WeChat message, Li Donghao's phone only had 3% battery left, so he immediately got into his car to charge it.
She initially shared her WeChat account widely, and many people added him, but he only accepted her roommate's WeChat because he was afraid that if she needed help someday, she might be able to find him. However, he didn't tell her this.
Sure enough, Li Donghao received a reply shortly after sending the WeChat message: "She has already come downstairs."
Li Donghao glanced at his phone, put it in the car, and got out to pick her up.
Yesterday after class, she handed all her books to her roommate and only took her phone to go find him. As a result, her phone fell into the water. Today, she went back to the dormitory and actually brought a bag with her. Li Donghao was a little curious whether she had bought a bag in her package. If not, should he buy her a few?
"Let's go!" She was still angry, her words filled with complaints. Li Donghao didn't dare to provoke her, so he gentlemanly opened the car door for her, invited her to get in, and then took her to buy a new SIM card.
Zhang Youyou took a liking to two phones, one the latest model and the other the one she used before, so she naturally bought both. She even got a new SIM card. After Li Donghao paid, she grabbed him and pointed to the tablet in the display case. Since he owed her, she bought a tablet too. When she came out carrying the things, Zhang Youyou's expression finally improved.
"I'm hungry," Zhang Youyou said matter-of-factly. "I want hot pot!"
As long as she's still throwing a tantrum, that's good. Li Donghao naturally took her there. While waiting for the food, she uninstalled some apps and logged into others on her phone. When her eyes fell on the second phone, she said to him, "Save this new number, just in case I need to contact you someday."
When Li Donghao obediently took out his phone to save her new number, she suddenly exclaimed "Huh?" and asked, "Don't you have two numbers? Why don't you buy another phone?"
