Chapter 4, Picking Her Up
Because Zhang Youyou revealed her relationship with Li Donghao, her roommates became unusually enthusiastic towards her, even jokingly asking her to call them "sister-in-law." Sister-in-law? Three of them? Li Donghao must be crazy. However, they only joked about it in the dorm; none of them exposed their relationship outside. Zhang Youyou was very grateful for this, but their explanation was: protecting her meant reducing their competition. To this, Zhang Youyou politely replied: "Get lost!"
Zhang Youyou witnessed the terror of Li Donghao's supporters, mainly because the three of them were too scary. They would ask her about Li Donghao from time to time, and even when she sent WeChat messages or made phone calls, they would ask, "Are you contacting my husband?" Zhang Youyou was really grateful.
Regardless, Friday arrived. Li Donghao asked her to come to his house that night so they could pick up her grandfather together the next morning. Zhang Youyou didn't want to be alone with him, so she made an excuse that she could get up early. Li Donghao then sent her the airport pickup time, and after thinking about it, Zhang Youyou asked him for the address.
Although he was at school, she chose to keep a low profile in order to enjoy her campus life.
After class, she went to the dormitory, grabbed a set of clothes, and stuffed them into her bag. She told her roommates that she would be staying out tonight, not wanting them to worry. But after some questioning, she had no choice but to confess that her grandfather had come and she had to visit him. As for where she would be staying, it was, of course, Li Donghao's house.
Speaking of which, Li Donghao is really rich. Even though the school provides dormitories, he still bought an apartment here for the sake of so-called quality of life, but she has never been there.
Before she arrived, her grandfather had asked her if she wanted to rent or buy a house to live in. Zhang Youyou resolutely refused. The Li family was wealthy, and the allowance they gave her was no less than that of the Li Donghao brothers. However, since they were outsiders, she still had to know the proper etiquette. She was too young to understand things before, but now she was more sensible. She would refuse if she could, and save what she couldn't refuse. Currently, her savings were almost seven figures, so strictly speaking, she was quite wealthy.
However, one should be low-key, so she left the card at home.
Before leaving, she searched for his address and navigation online, and silently took a screenshot so she wouldn't forget. As a result, she received a call from Li Donghao as soon as she left the school gate. He asked her to wait for him at the supermarket near the school, and he would drive her back. Zhang Youyou agreed.
Why not take a free ride?
Although she didn't want to be alone with him, she had to stay overnight, so she had to accept it even if she didn't like it. Besides, taking the subway would cost money and she would have to find her way. Why didn't she choose the most convenient option?
As they were walking toward the supermarket, a piercing horn suddenly blared beside them. Zhang Youyou turned around in annoyance and saw Li Donghao park his black BMW on the side of the road. Without hesitation, Zhang Youyou sat in the back. Li Donghao glanced at it through the rearview mirror, said nothing, and drove away.
Although Li Donghao is the eldest grandson of the Li family, no one in the Li family is as important as Zhang Youyou. She is a powerful figure in the Li family. Sometimes Li Donghao thinks that if it weren't for that ridiculous arranged marriage, Zhang Youyou would probably have left the Li family through the main gate when she got married.
"Let's go to the supermarket to buy toiletries before we go home," Li Donghao said. "What do you want to eat tonight?"
After thinking for a week, Zhang Youyou wanted to try something different, so she said, "KFC."
Li Donghao's face darkened. Who would eat KFC for dinner? He resolutely refused. Zhang Youyou snorted in annoyance, and Li Donghao sighed.
How did they raise her to be like this?
Despite verbally refusing, he still bought her KFC after leaving the supermarket, but reminded her that it was only for after-dinner snacks and not for a main meal. Zhang Youyou ignored all unfavorable topics and nodded perfunctorily.
