Chapter 53, The Cold War
Li Donghao sat alone at the dining table for dinner that evening. Although he considered himself a good cook, the food was really bad today, and he put down his chopsticks after a few bites.
He knew he was wrong, but he just couldn't control himself. Zhang Youyou wasn't very intelligent and lacked emotional intelligence. If it weren't for the Li family protecting her all these years, she wouldn't have been able to grow up so recklessly. Now that she's an adult and no longer under the Li family's protection, if he doesn't keep an eye on her, she might be kidnapped soon.
The thought of her possibly being kidnapped by someone else made Li Donghao feel so sad that he could hardly breathe.
A man sat listlessly on the sofa, accompanied only by the dim light. Tonight, he didn't want to work, didn't want to sleep, and didn't even want to go back to his room; he simply sat there in silence.
The doorbell rang around 10 p.m. Zhang Youyou got up to go to the bathroom, but forgot that she was at Li Donghao's house. She subconsciously looked for the bathroom door and bumped into the wall, groaning in pain.
Hearing the door open, Li Donghao immediately turned around. Seeing her come out, he was afraid she would be angry, so he didn't dare to go over. But when he heard her voice, he immediately ran over, turned her body around, and asked worriedly if she was alright. Zhang Youyou hadn't recovered from her sleep yet, and touched her forehead with a mournful face. Li Donghao immediately helped to rub it, blew on it a few times, and comforted her before he stopped.
Her tear-streaked face looked somewhat frightening at midnight. Li Donghao asked her what she wanted to do. She said she was going to the toilet. Li Donghao escorted her in, reminding her not to look in the mirror. Zhang Youyou went in, seemingly understanding, but afraid she would bump into the wall again in her dazed state, Li Donghao waited outside. As soon as the toilet flushing stopped, a blood-curdling scream came from inside. Li Donghao rushed in.
"What's wrong?"
The door opened, and Li Donghao saw Zhang Youyou leaning against the wall. He asked her worriedly, and she pointed tremblingly to the opposite side. Li Donghao looked over and saw the reflection of two people in the mirror. Looking at her face, he immediately understood.
"Okay, okay, it's alright now, don't be afraid!" He pulled her into his arms and gently stroked her head to comfort her.
After a while, Li Donghao came over with makeup remover pads and makeup remover water to try to help her remove her makeup. However, he didn't know that he was just wiping her face with the makeup remover pads soaked in makeup remover water. He accidentally hurt her. Finally, Zhang Youyou, who had come to her senses, took the makeup remover water and makeup remover pads and ran to the bathroom to remove her makeup.
She was still a bit dazed when she was removing her makeup, but her mind gradually cleared up. She remembered that the two of them had argued downstairs, and then they argued again when they came back. In the end, she went back to her room and cried. When she came out again, Li Donghao stopped her.
"I cooked you some noodles, go and eat some!" Her voice was gentle, completely different from before.
Zhang Youyou glared at him, then turned to go back to her room, but he stopped her.
"Even if you're going to get angry, you have to eat first. You need to be full to have the energy to get angry."
Zhang Youyou glanced at him and turned to go to the restaurant, only to find that he had actually cooked noodles while she was taking a shower, with not only vegetables but also poached eggs.
Zhang Youyou sat there with her head down, eating a few bites in a sullen manner. She felt uncomfortable in her stomach, and after a few more bites, she felt even more uncomfortable. When she tried to eat again, her stomach churned, and Zhang Youyou had to run to the bathroom and vomit into the toilet.
Li Donghao, unaware of her condition, followed her directly. Upon seeing her like this, he immediately patted her back, and after she vomited, he gave her water to rinse her mouth. Finally, he helped Zhang Youyou, whose eyes and nose were red, back to the living room.
"How could this happen?" Li Donghao took a tissue to wipe her mouth, but she snatched it away. Li Donghao sat awkwardly to the side.
