Chapter 54, Showing Goodwill
In the end, Zhang Youyou went back to her room to sleep without eating anything, and the once lively living room returned to silence. Li Donghao stood there, not knowing what to do.
Because of his impulsive actions, the two of them fell into a cold war. Li Donghao wished he could go back in time and strangle his past self, but it was too late to say anything now.
The living room lights were on quietly. After taking a shower, Li Donghao went back to his room when he saw that she didn't seem to want to come out. He tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep until dawn.
Perhaps because the argument yesterday had taken too much of her energy, or perhaps because the sadness was overwhelming, Zhang Youyou fell asleep quickly and slept very soundly. When she woke up, it was already noon.
Zhang Youyou felt dizzy and lightheaded, but her stomach was rumbling. She hadn't eaten much since noon yesterday, and the argument and vomiting last night had left her completely empty. She touched her stomach, not wanting to get up.
Although she is magnanimous, it doesn't mean she can let others bully her, especially Li Donghao. She didn't do anything wrong, so why is he yelling at her?
The more she thought about it, the sadder and more aggrieved she felt. Zhang Youyou hugged the little dinosaur smeared with makeup, pouted, but no tears fell.
When the doorbell rang, Zhang Youyou was still lying on her side, hugging her toy dinosaur. Not wanting to speak, she covered her ears with her hands. But the person outside seemed oblivious and kept knocking. Zhang Youyou grabbed the blanket and covered her head, but the person outside persisted. Zhang Youyou suddenly pulled off the blanket, ready to get up and yell at the person, only to find that the person outside had already come to the bedside. She sat up abruptly, and the two of them were face to face. Their eyes met, and Zhang Youyou's anger instantly vanished.
She had only heard people around her say that Li Donghao was very handsome, but she had never really looked at him. After all, he always had a stern face and was always serious during tutoring sessions. Occasionally, when she asked him a question, she would receive a disdainful look from him. So, in Zhang Youyou's eyes, Li Donghao was just a person. Now that the two of them were so close, she could even see his thick eyelashes. At this moment, Zhang Youyou had to admit that her heart was racing.
"Are you... alright?" Lee Dong-ho was the first to react, straightening up and asking worriedly.
Seeing him back away, Zhang Youyou awkwardly turned her head away and mumbled, "None of your business!"
Knowing she was still angry, Li Donghao didn't dare to press her. He simply said softly, "I made some porridge. Get up and eat some."
Zhang Youyou neither refused nor paid any attention.
The air seemed to freeze between the two of them. After what felt like an eternity, Zhang Youyou, seeing that he still showed no sign of leaving, turned her head and said, "Do you want to stay here and help me change my clothes?"
Upon hearing her words, Li Donghao hurriedly went out and closed the door behind him.
Leaning against the wall, Li Donghao patted his rapidly beating heart; he had almost given himself away just now.
Half an hour later, Zhang Youyou came out wearing cute Hello Kitty pajamas. Li Donghao had already prepared lunch and immediately invited her to come and eat. Zhang Youyou sat down in her usual spot without saying a word and picked up the hot porridge bowl to eat.
She didn't speak, and Li Donghao didn't dare to either. He just silently ate with her. Zhang Youyou didn't hold back either. Anyway, she was already hungry, so she ate heartily. She ate almost all of the four side dishes that Li Donghao had prepared. Li Donghao didn't care. Instead, he asked her if she wanted some more.
After finishing the last bite of porridge, Zhang Youyou poured himself a bowl of soy milk.
The afternoon sun in the living room brought warmth after the Cold War. The only sounds in the dining room were the clinking of bowls and chopsticks. Li Donghao glanced at her every now and then, but she remained expressionless, simply eating her meal. Li Donghao tried to apologize several times, but swallowed his words. Now was not the right time.
In the silence, the phone lying on the sofa rang. Li Donghao glanced at her, got up, and went to the living room to answer the call.
