Chapter 57, Apology

Chapter 57, Apology

Seeing that she had finally managed to smile, Li Donghao immediately went over and put his arm around her to sit down on the sofa. He also considerately helped her take the roses and put them on the coffee table.

"What happened yesterday was my fault. I shouldn't have lost my temper with you. Can you forgive me?" Sitting next to her, Li Donghao lowered his posture and spoke gently, trying to take her hand, but she refused.

He was mean to her yesterday, bullied her again today, and now he thinks he can get forgiveness by offering a bouquet of flowers and an apology? Zhang Youyou isn't so easily coaxed.

"I won't forgive you!" Zhang Youyou turned to the side, crossed her arms, and turned her back to him.

"Then what do I have to do for you to forgive me?" The fact that she was willing to talk to him meant that he was halfway to his anger. If he just kept trying, she would definitely forgive him.

“When I do something wrong, I apologize to Grandpa and offer him tea. You should follow that procedure too!” Zhang Youyou said irritably.

Li Donghao felt a headache coming on. Every time she caused trouble, she was the one who took the blame and even had to apologize to her grandfather and serve him tea. She had never done that even once!

However, he couldn't say that. He had finally managed to calm her down, and he certainly couldn't add fuel to the fire. So he said softly, "Wait a moment, I'll go make some tea!"

He had already offered roses and apologized, and was just short of serving tea. However, it was not proper for an elder to serve tea to a younger person, so Zhang Youyou stopped him to avoid shortening his own lifespan.

"Forget about the tea, let's apologize in another way."

Lee Dong-ho, who was about to get up, was stopped by her. Hearing what she said, the corners of his mouth slightly turned up, but he quickly suppressed it.

She mustn't find out.

"So, how do you want me to apologize?"

Zhang Youyou thought about it seriously and said, "You can cover my living expenses for the next few years."

Lee Dong-ho: ? ? ?

"What's the meaning?"

Zhang Youyou tilted her head and looked at him very seriously, saying, "Don't you understand? It means that besides the allowance my parents give me, you have to pay for the extra!"

"My uncle and aunt give me a lot of living expenses."

"So you disagree?" Zhang Youyou's expression turned serious.

"No, no, I can give you living expenses, but I need to know how you intend to use them. If it's for illegal or immoral purposes, I definitely can't give it to you!"

Zhang Youyou punched him twice, yelling, "Who do you take me for? Breaking the law! I'm a student, not a gangster!"

The girl, who had just come of age, still had a childlike voice. Coupled with years of being pampered, this childlike quality became even stronger. Although she was throwing a tantrum, it sounded more like a child being spoiled.

Seeing her like this, one could tell that all her energy had shifted, or even disappeared.

To prevent her from hurting herself, Li Donghao held her hand and comforted her, "Okay, okay, I'll cover your living expenses! You can call me anytime if you need money."

“I need it right now!” Zhang Youyou said matter-of-factly.

"Now?"

"You won't?"

Li Donghao nodded repeatedly, "How much do you want?"

Zhang Youyou wasn't in a hurry; instead, she took out her phone and went online to search for cosmetics and autumn/winter clothing.

Looking at the page she was browsing, Li Donghao asked curiously, "Oh right, I forgot to ask, why did you change your hairstyle? And your clothes are very different from before!"

Zhang Youyou smirked smugly, turned her head and said seriously, "Pretty, right? I've changed myself!"

Seemingly having forgotten their previous argument, Zhang Youyou linked arms with him and leaned closer, saying, "Let me tell you, ever since I argued with Lao Jiang last time, a lot of guys at our school have liked me. But I used to act too much like a child, and they felt guilty. So I turned over a new leaf—oops, I mean, I transformed myself into a mature and sophisticated young lady. So far, more than a dozen guys have added me on WeChat. Looks like I don't need to get a PhD to bring a boyfriend home!"

As she spoke, Zhang Youyou seemed to see herself bringing her crush home to introduce him to her grandfather, and a gratified smile appeared on her face.

Looking at her smile, Li Donghao felt even more somber.
