Chapter 70, Congratulations
Time seemed to stand still as everyone's gaze followed the basketball's arc, and gasps of surprise echoed across the basketball court as it fell from the center of the hoop.
The final three-pointer sealed the victory in this hard-fought battle.
"Ah!!!!" Zhang Youyou jumped up excitedly. Liu Ping and the others were also infected by this scene and cheered with Zhang Youyou, hugging each other.
Meng Xiao was also surrounded and hugged by his teammates.
After the match ended, the losers silently left the field, and the others left one after another. Meng Xiao only said a few words to the coach and teammates before running to find Zhang Youyou. At this time, Liu Ping and the other two silently made way for them.
"You're amazing!" Zhang Youyou praised without reservation.
"Thanks!"
Seeing that he was sweating profusely, Zhang Youyou took a bottle of drink from a bag next to her and handed it to him, "Please have a drink!"
"Thanks!"
Zhang Youyou couldn't help but laugh, "Why do you keep saying thank you!"
Meng Xiao, whose face was already flushed from the strenuous exercise, now had red ears as well.
The two were standing awkwardly face to face when Kai suddenly ran up to Meng Xiao and Zhang Youyou and said, "We're going to the food street to celebrate tonight, do you want to come along?" As he spoke, he looked around and asked curiously, "Where are your friends?"
“They probably went to congratulate you!” she said, taking a bottle of drink out of the bag and handing it to him.
"Thanks! Come join us if it's convenient, the more the merrier!" Kai noticed the flirtatious relationship between the two and wisely left.
After he left, Meng Xiao looked at Zhang Youyou somewhat shyly and asked, "Can you come?"
Zhang Youyou was also shy, but she still tried to remain calm and said, "I'll ask them. If they go, I'll go too." Although she really wanted to celebrate with them, she was still rational.
"Okay, I'll wait for your call. I'll head back now."
"good."
Just as he was about to go down, Zhang Youyou suddenly called out to him, and when he turned around, she gave him a thumbs up, "You guys are awesome!"
"Thanks!"
Seeing him rejoin their group, Zhang Youyou smiled with satisfaction. Just then, her three roommates, who had previously "disappeared," inexplicably returned to her side, even mimicking her tone and teasingly saying, "You guys are awesome!"
Zhang Youyou blushed and slapped the hand on her shoulder, and Li Yanyan laughed.
As people gradually left the stadium, the four of them returned to their dorm. On the way, Zhang Youyou asked them if they wanted to celebrate with them. Li Yanyan had no objection, but Liu Ping asked about the location. Zhang Youyou said she didn't know yet, and Liu Ping said they would decide after finding out the location and who would be attending. Zhang Youyou nodded.
As soon as he received the address and list of attendees from Meng Xiao that evening, Li Donghao started calling him one after another.
"I'm getting home late today, so you should go home early and order takeout yourself."
"I'm not going back today." Zhang Youyou couldn't stop smiling. "I'm going out to eat with my classmates today."
Lee Dong-ho tightened his grip on his phone; he already knew about the afternoon's match.
"What classmate? Your roommate?"
Zhang Youyou frankly admitted, "It's not just my roommates, but also students from other departments. Our school won the basketball game this afternoon, and the coach took them out for dinner tonight. My friend invited us to come too."
Li Donghao felt as if something was gripping his heart, the pain making it hard to breathe, but he still managed to stay rational and asked, "Does your friend also play basketball?"
"Yeah, he made the last three-pointer!" Zhang Youyou said proudly. He expected Zhang Youyou to say something more, but instead, Zhang Youyou abruptly hung up without warning. Zhang Youyou stared at his phone, now back on the caller ID, completely bewildered.
However, the joy of victory washed away her doubts. Zhang Youyou asked her roommate if she should change her clothes again for dinner that night. Li Yanyan rolled her eyes at her and reminded her that they were just going to dinner, not attending a banquet, so there was no need to be so particular. However, she should remember to be quiet while eating. Zhang Youyou nodded, seemingly understanding.
