Chapter 98, Help

Chapter 98, Help

No one picked me up when I arrived, but someone saw me off when I left. That's good enough.

After seeing Li Dongshuo off, Zhang Youyou took a taxi home by herself. Li Donghao asked her to go to his house. Although she didn't want to, he said he had something to say, so she decided to go and listen to him.

Zhang Youyou told the driver the address, and then she saw a woman holding a child on the side of the road, reaching out to flag down a car. Unfortunately, most of the cars on the road were private cars, and no one paid any attention to the woman's outstretched hand.

As the car approached, Zhang Youyou felt the woman looked somewhat familiar, so she asked the driver to slow down. When the woman looked over, Zhang Youyou finally recognized her face—it was Teacher Jiang, the one who had previously slandered her. Zhang Youyou immediately told the driver to drive past her.

Ms. Jiang thought she had stopped the car, so she opened the door and was about to get in when she was stunned when she saw who was inside. Zhang Youyou looked at her with an innocent expression.

"What's up?"

Teacher Jiang was taken aback, her throat tightened, but she finally spoke.

"Could you give me a ride? My child is sick!"

Zhang Youyou glanced at the child in her arms. Because she was holding the child, only half of the child's face was visible, and that half of the face was bright red. Without saying a word, Zhang Youyou gave up her seat and let them get in the car, then told the driver to go to the hospital.

Teacher Jiang thanked Zhang Youyou. Zhang Youyou waved his hand and said it wasn't necessary.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Ms. Jiang offered to pay, but Zhang Youyou refused. She paid instead, got out of the car with Ms. Jiang, and helped her register. However, when it came time to pay, Ms. Jiang searched all her pockets and realized she had forgotten her phone. Zhang Youyou then paid for her again. Ms. Jiang said she would return the money to her when they got back, but Zhang Youyou said they should focus on getting the child treated first.

The two took their medical cards to the doctor. It turned out the child had a fever and needed an IV drip. The nurse arranged a ward, verified the patient information with Ms. Jiang, and started the IV for the child. Zhang Youyou stood to the side, watching Ms. Jiang's weary expression as she stared at her child. She thought of her own parents. Because of her work, she had lived with the Li family since childhood, and her relationship with them wasn't very close. However, whenever they had time off, they would play with her, buy her clothes and treats, so she felt that her parents were like close guests. But seeing Ms. Jiang like this now, Zhang Youyou suddenly felt that perhaps the relationship between parents and children was more than just that of close guests.

Emotions are truly complex, whether it's familial love or romantic love.

A cough suddenly broke the silence of the ward. Zhang Youyou looked in the direction of the sound and realized that Teacher Jiang wasn't wearing a coat, only a slightly thicker sweater. Because of its dark color, she had assumed she was wearing a coat. So she said she was going out for a bit and left.

Half an hour later, she returned carrying a bag and handed it to Teacher Jiang, who looked at her with puzzlement.

"You're wearing too little."

Teacher Jiang opened the bag and glanced inside. It was a black down jacket. Teacher Jiang's nose tingled, and she choked up as she said, "Thank you!"

"No need. You need to protect yourself before you can take care of your child." Zhang Youyou pulled up a chair and sat down, then sent a WeChat message to Li Donghao, asking him to transfer some money to her. Hospitals are places where even a printing press at home couldn't keep up with the demand; just in case, she should prepare more money.

Teacher Jiang put on the down jacket that Zhang Youyou had bought and continued to stay by her son's bedside, looking at the redness on his face with great concern.

Because of work, she often neglected her son. If it weren't for the fact that he didn't respond when she called him for dinner today, she wouldn't have known he was sick. So she grabbed his coat, wrapped him up, and carried him out. Even though they had a car, she couldn't drive with the child in this condition, so she had to take a taxi. Unfortunately, taxis were hard to find today. Luckily, she ran into Zhang Youyou; otherwise, she didn't know how long she would have had to wait. Thinking of this, Teacher Jiang looked at her, but she was looking down at her phone. Teacher Jiang felt conflicted.
