Chapter 99, Startled
When Li Donghao got home, Zhang Youyou hadn't returned yet. Li Donghao called her out of curiosity, and she said in a low voice that she was at the hospital. Li Donghao thought something had happened to her and was terrified. But she said that Teacher Jiang's son was sick and she was just there to keep them company. Li Donghao asked for the address and went there immediately.
When Li Donghao arrived at the hospital, Zhang Youyou was charging her phone at the nurses' station. Li Donghao's tense emotions eased slightly upon seeing her, but he still hugged her tightly. Zhang Youyou was startled by the sudden hug and remained motionless like a well-behaved kitten.
If the nurse hadn't coughed, Li Donghao probably wouldn't have let go.
What are you doing here? Where is Teacher Jiang?
"My phone is dead, could you please help me charge it, nurse?" Zhang Youyou said with a sweet smile to the nurse at the nurses' station. She glanced at the battery level, which was already at 53%. Zhang Youyou unplugged the phone, said thank you, and then led him to the ward.
Teacher Jiang's son was on his last IV drip. His fever had subsided, but it was still high. Given his young age, it was best for him to stay in the hospital overnight. Teacher Jiang stayed to keep him company, but since she had no phone or money, Zhang Youyou, worried that she might be in trouble, also stayed. She even bought them food, but didn't eat it because she didn't like the taste of hospital food. To avoid making them feel awkward, she went to the nurses' station to charge her phone, but she didn't expect Li Donghao to come over.
"How is the child?" Li Donghao asked worriedly when he saw the sleeping child after following Zhang Youyou to the ward.
"His fever has subsided." Teacher Jiang stood up and invited him to sit down, but Li Donghao waved his hand, indicating that he didn't need to be so polite.
"Thanks to Zhang Youyou today, I really don't know what I would have done if it weren't for her!" Teacher Jiang said with some guilt. "What happened before was my fault, I apologize to you!" As she spoke, she was about to bow to Zhang Youyou to apologize, but Zhang Youyou stopped her.
“You’ve already apologized for what happened last time, so there’s no need to apologize again,” Zhang Youyou said. “You’ve also thanked me for what happened today, so there’s no need to say it again.”
Teacher Jiang watched as Zhang Youyou's face flushed red and then turned pale, unsure of what to do. Fortunately, Li Donghao stepped in to defuse the situation.
"Teacher Jiang, please don't mind. Zhang Youyou is just like that; he speaks his mind directly. Please bear with him!"
Teacher Jiang waved her hands repeatedly, "This is just her true nature, it's a good thing!"
Zhang Youyou proudly raised her head, and Li Donghao smiled and ruffled her hair.
Teacher Jiang glanced at the sky outside and said to Li Donghao, "I have a favor to ask, could you please grant me this request, Assistant Li?"
"Please speak!"
"It's getting late, and I can't leave now. Could you please take Zhang Youyou back to school? I'm worried about leaving her alone!"
"What kind of unreasonable request is this? Don't worry, I'll take her home. But what about you? Are you alright alone? Where's your husband?"
Teacher Jiang smiled awkwardly, "He's away on a business trip and can't come back in time. Besides, the doctor said the child is fine, he'll just stay in the hospital for one night, it'll be alright."
"That's good. If there's nothing else, we'll be going now!" There's no point in staying here any longer, and besides, Zhang Youyou has class tomorrow, so staying at the hospital isn't an option.

The two walked out of the ward together. Looking at their backs, Teacher Jiang thought they were a perfect match, but it was a pity they were siblings.
After leaving the hospital, Zhang Youyou didn't rush to get in the car with him. Instead, she asked if he had his bank card. Li Donghao was puzzled. Zhang Youyou said she needed five thousand yuan in cash. So Li Donghao took her to withdraw the cash and then returned to the hospital. Zhang Youyou put the money in her bag and ran upstairs.
Teacher Jiang, who came out of the ward to ask the nurse to help remove the needle, was puzzled when she saw Zhang Youyou. Only after the nurse removed the needle and left did Zhang Youyou take out a wad of money from her bag and hand it to her.
"This is?"
“You didn’t bring your phone. What if you need to pay a bill and don’t have any money?” Zhang Youyou said matter-of-factly. “Here’s five thousand yuan. Use it first. If it’s not enough, I’ll come back to pay tomorrow.”
Teacher Jiang couldn't help but shed tears as she looked at the money.
Zhang Youyou disliked crying and explained that the money was only a temporary loan, and she would have to repay it after her child was discharged from the hospital. Teacher Jiang nodded tearfully, and Zhang Youyou said nothing more before turning and leaving.
