"You went back to the Liu family."
Qu Dongbo covered one of his shoulders, his expression not changing at all.
"Yeah, I'm going back."
The man called Liu He seemed a little confused and repeated, his tone somewhat mocking, and it was unclear whether he was mocking himself or others: "I finally went back. But so what?"
"Look at yourself, Qu Dongbo. You are living such a servile life now? Can a Cao Yulei force you to run away like a stray dog?" Liu He looked at him with some disgust.
"What does I have to do with you?" Qu Dongbo looked at him with disgust.
"Tsk tsk, as expected of the surname Qu, you are still so courageous."
Liu He stepped forward, and in the dim light, Lu Qin finally saw his face clearly. What kind of face was that? It could be described as devilish.
To be honest, Lu Qin had seen quite a few handsome men, but Liu He was different from any of them. He wasn't as gentle as Zhang Cong, nor as warm as Xiao Xu, and unlike Qu Dongbo, he had a sense of righteousness.
She had seen Qu Dongbo wearing the same military uniform before, and he displayed the soldier's upright, incorruptible, tough and upright temperament to the fullest.
Liu He, on the other hand, wore the same military coat, but he buttoned the buttons on his chest carelessly, revealing an unruly temperament.
Lu Qin knew that the two were obviously old acquaintances, but from just a few words, she could tell that their relationship was not very good.
She did not interrupt, but gently pulled Qu Dongbo's hand. Qu Dongbo held her hand tightly, signaling him not to be nervous.
Liu He walked forward, and the people around him followed his footsteps, approaching the two of them step by step, forming an encirclement.
"Why aren't you happy to see me?" Liu He asked, "We are old classmates after all. You didn't even say hello when you met?"
"Stop talking nonsense!" Qu Dongbo frowned. "Since you're here, you won't let me go. Let her go, and I'll end my life."
"Qu Dongbo!" Lu Qin was obviously surprised by the deep hatred between the two. "No, don't even think about leaving me!"
Liu He stared at Qu Dongbo for a few times with a strange expression on his face, then he laughed heartily, "I've never seen you fight so hard for a woman, but don't worry, I'm not interested in your life for now. I just wanted to say hello to you."
"How's it going? Are you surprised?" Liu He continued, "Look, if you had stayed in Kyoto, you probably wouldn't have ended up being a small-time leader here. Doesn't this prove that your original choice was wrong?"
"I've never regretted it." Qu Dongbo snorted coldly, "Since you don't intend to keep me, there's nothing more to say between you and me."
Qu Dongbo pulled Lu Qin and wanted to leave.
"Stop." Liu He gave an order, and his men had already loaded their guns and pointed them at Qu Dongbo and Lu Qin.
"What do you mean?"
"I just said I'm not interested in your life, but I didn't say I'd let you go so soon." Liu He said with some amusement, "Don't you want to see what I've done in the Liu family?"
"I even sent your men back home with good food and drinks. And you didn't even say a word of thanks."
"So what do you want?"
Liu He laughed softly.
"Do you remember when we were in school, someone forced me to jump off the third floor?" He smiled a bit sinisterly: "Thank you so much for teaching those people a lesson and not letting me jump."
"But unfortunately, do you know, I actually wanted to jump down. How great would it be to jump down? It would be all over once and for all." Liu He seemed to be immersed in memories, and his voice was a little ethereal.
"How about it? Do you want to experience what I felt like back then?" Liu He stepped forward and patted Qu Dongbo's gunshot-wounded shoulder. "Jump down, jump down from here. I've even planned an escape route for you. As long as you go from here, I'll lead the others out of here."
Qu Dongbo felt pain, but did not show any discomfort. Lu Qin had already noticed that there were beads of sweat the size of beans on his forehead, which were about to fall.
Qu Dongbo stared at Liu He for a long time, then lowered his head to look at Lu Qin, but saw Lu Qin gave him a firm look in return.
As long as he is around, Lu Qin won't care about so many things.
Whether it was Cao Yulei or Liu He in front of her, she didn't feel that scared.
Qu Dongbo didn't think twice, hugged Lu Qin and jumped up.
…
The originally turbulent river had long been covered by a thick layer of ice. In just a moment, the sound of a heavy object falling to the ground was heard.
The deck of Xixia Bridge is far away from the river surface. In the darkness of night, the weak light of the flashlight can't clearly reveal the specific situation below.
"Young Master, are we going to let them go now?" A person behind Liu He stepped forward and asked.
Liu He did not respond, but fired a shot. The man fell down in shock, holding his abdomen.
"If anyone questions my words again, this will be their fate." Liu He spun the gun around and put it back into his waistband. "I said, no one of them will be harmed tonight. I won't be too late to have a good time with him after I've dealt with the Liu family."
"Qu Dongbo, I hope you can behave better."
…
Lu Qin was very anxious.
At the moment of falling, Qu Dongbo landed on his back in order to protect her.
She wasn't seriously injured, but Qu Dongbo took a heavy blow. If the ice wasn't so thick, they would have broken through the ice and fallen into the cold river.
Lu Qin got up immediately.
"Qu Dongbo! Are you okay?" Lu Qin got up from his arms and found that there were traces of blood at the corners of Qu Dongbo's mouth, and the wound on his left shoulder had been torn open and was bleeding.
The blood fell on the ice and froze into ice in an instant.
Lu Qin didn't know what to do. She had never learned any first aid knowledge. Looking at Qu Dongbo bleeding uncontrollably, she started to cry.
He clumsily tore off a piece of cloth from his body, trying to stop the bleeding wound, but the wound was too deep and the bullet pierced Qu Dongbo's left shoulder.
The impact of the fall had only exacerbated the tearing of the wound, soaking half of his clothes in just a short while.
"What should I do? There's so much blood." Lu Qin's hands were shaking a little.
Qu Dongbo held her trembling hands with one hand: "I'm fine... They won't chase us anymore. Help me up, and we'll just keep walking."
Lu Qin wanted to support his body, but her hands were shaking so badly that she had no strength left. "Where are you going?"
"Go home!" Qu Dongbo forced himself to stand up, feeling a sweet taste in his throat. "He won't break his promise. Let's head towards Antu County. Once we reach Antu County, it's our own territory."
Qu Dongbo made up his mind at that moment. He struggled to get up, but as soon as he moved, the wound on his shoulder was torn open, and blood flowed down his arm, soaking half of his clothes.
"I'm fine. Please help me find a handful of snow. Snow can stop the bleeding."
Lu Qin nodded, but couldn't stand on the slippery ice. He fell several times before he managed to keep his balance.
But there was ice everywhere, and it was a problem to find a handful of unfrozen snow.
Qu Dongbo was lying on the ice, covering his shoulders.
The bullet must have grazed an artery, and every time he moved, his chest hurt so much that he must have broken a rib.
He looked up, and through his sight, he could vaguely see the twinkling lights on the bridge.
That was Liu He and his group evacuating.
Qu Dongbo's heart sank slightly. He knew from the beginning that this trip to Rongcheng was not a simple one, but he had never thought that Lu Qin would be involved and that he would meet Liu He.
The things involved are intertwined and complicated.
He sighed, fearing that his peaceful days in Antu County would be gone forever.
