Fan Shengmei wandered aimlessly through the streets, the cold wind brushing her cheeks, tears welling in her eyes. She didn't know where to go, her feelings for Meng Yanchen now so complicated. Meanwhile, Meng Yanchen was frantically searching for Fan Shengmei at the company, anxious and sensing a huge crisis looming over their relationship. He knew he had to find her as soon as possible and explain everything.
Finally, Meng Yanchen learned from his secretary that Fan Shengmei had returned to the company, and he immediately went back to his office. As soon as he opened the door, he saw Fan Shengmei standing there, her eyes filled with anger and disappointment.
“You’ve finally come back, Shengmei, I…” Meng Yanchen hurriedly began to explain.
Fan Shengmei interrupted him, coldly saying, "Meng Yanchen, I'm asking you, are you secretly collecting evidence of your competitors' business misconduct?"
Meng Yanchen's heart tightened; he hadn't expected Fan Shengmei to know about this. After hesitating for a moment, he decided to conceal part of the truth, worried that Fan Shengmei might be in danger because of it. "Shengmei, there are some things you don't need to know. I'm doing this for the company and for our future."
"For our future? You think hiding this from us is for our own good?" Fan Shengmei raised her voice, tears glistening in her eyes under the light. "Su Ran told me everything. You've been using me all along, haven't you?"
"Su Ran? What did he say to you?" Meng Yanchen frowned, feeling angry about Su Ran's interference.
"He said you just wanted to use me to achieve your goals, and that you would discard me once it was over. I didn't believe him at first, but after overhearing your conversation with your confidant, I know what he said is true." Fan Shengmei's voice trembled. "I trusted you so much. I was even willing to risk my own safety to help you with company matters, and what did you do? Is this how you treated me?"
“Shengmei, it’s not what you think. I kept it from you because it was dangerous, and I didn’t want you to get hurt,” Meng Yanchen tried to explain, taking two steps forward.
Fan Shengmei took a step back, avoiding his approach. "Don't come near me! You always use this excuse, saying it's for my own good, but it's all for your own sake. You don't trust me at all, so why should I trust you?"
Meng Yanchen looked at Fan Shengmei helplessly, "Shengmei, I'm really thinking of you. Your competitors are not to be trifled with. If they find out you were involved in this, they will definitely do you a disservice."
"So you can keep it from me forever? We don't even have the most basic trust between us, what future are we talking about?" Fan Shengmei was agitated, her chest heaving violently.
Meng Yanchen opened his mouth, wanting to explain again, but he didn't know where to begin.
Fan Shengmei took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. "Meng Yanchen, I don't know how to trust you anymore. From today onwards, it's over between us." With that, she turned and left.
"Shengmei!" Meng Yanchen reached out to grab Fan Shengmei, but only grasped at thin air. He watched Fan Shengmei's departing figure, his heart filled with regret and helplessness.
Meanwhile, in another corner of the city, the atmosphere was tense in the executive meeting room of a rival company.
“Recently, Meng Yanchen of the Fu Group has been making frequent moves, seemingly plotting something. We must be vigilant and not let him succeed,” a senior executive said with a serious expression.
“As far as I know, he seems to be gathering evidence of our business misconduct. While it’s unclear how much he’s gathered, we can’t just sit idly by,” another executive added.
"Make arrangements immediately to destroy all evidence that could be used against us, and at the same time, closely monitor Meng Yanchen's every move. If he dares to make any rash moves, we will absolutely not let him go." The company's head's eyes revealed a ruthless glint.
Meng Yanchen returned to his desk and slumped into his chair. He knew that this misunderstanding with Fan Shengmei could have a huge impact on his plans. Moreover, his competitors seemed to have noticed his scheme and were beginning to take precautions, making his already difficult situation even more complicated.
He rubbed his temples, trying to calm himself down, and thought about how to regain Fan Shengmei's trust while breaking through his competitors' defenses and completing his plan.
The office was so quiet that only Meng Yanchen's heavy breathing could be heard. The dim lighting cast his lonely shadow long across the floor. He gazed out at the bustling yet indifferent city, silently vowing that no matter what, he would resolve everything, win back Fan Shengmei, and save the Fu Group.
