Chapter 6 Wang Qiang's New Conspiracy

Fan Shengmei fidgeted at her desk, her eyes constantly glancing towards Wang Qiang's office. The rain outside was pouring down, the raindrops pattering against the windowpane, seemingly echoing her anxiety about her situation. She didn't know what Wang Qiang would do when he returned, or whether she could handle it again. But she told herself she had to persevere, no matter what, and she had to find out the truth behind it all.

A short while later, Wang Qiang strode back from the conference room, his face grim. He went straight to the conference room and announced an emergency meeting. Employees entered the conference room one after another, and Fan Shengmei followed him in with a nervous heart.

Inside the meeting room, the lights were harsh, and the rectangular conference table was surrounded by company leaders and employees. Wang Qiang sat at the head of the table, his cold gaze sweeping over everyone before finally settling on Fan Shengmei. "I've gathered everyone here today to discuss Fan Shengmei's work results," Wang Qiang's voice broke the silence, carrying an undeniable authority.

Fan Shengmei's heart tightened, and she subconsciously sat up straight, her hands gripping the hem of her clothes tightly. She could feel the curious and inquisitive gazes of her colleagues around her, which made her feel like she was being pricked by needles.

“Fan Shengmei, the data source for this report you submitted is unclear, and it's highly likely that improper methods were used.” Wang Qiang slammed the report heavily on the table, the clatter of papers echoing loudly in the quiet conference room. “This seriously damages the company's reputation and business progress. You must provide everyone with a reasonable explanation.”

Fan Shengmei's anger surged. She took a deep breath, trying to remain calm. "Mr. Wang, all the data was collected and organized through legitimate channels. Every piece of data has a source, and there was no improper means involved." Her voice was clear and firm, and her gaze met Wang Qiang's without fear.

Wang Qiang sneered, crossed his arms, and leaned back in his chair. "Oh? If that's the case, then produce your evidence. Words alone aren't enough; who knows if your data is fabricated?"

Fan Shengmei bit her lip. She hadn't prepared any relevant evidence beforehand, since Wang Qiang hadn't raised such a question before. "Mr. Wang, you didn't ask me to provide proof of the data source before, and collecting this data took me a lot of time and effort. The evidence is all in my work records, it just needs some time to organize."

Her colleagues began to whisper among themselves, the sounds of their conversations filling the meeting room. "Tsk tsk, I never thought she was this kind of person." "Yeah, she always seemed so hardworking, I never thought the data might be wrong." These whispered words pierced Fan Shengmei's ears like needles.

Fan Shengmei felt a surge of grievance and anger. She knew this was a trap deliberately set by Wang Qiang. But at this moment, she was at a disadvantage due to a lack of evidence, and a sense of powerlessness welled up inside her.

Just as Fan Shengmei felt isolated and helpless, the conference room door was suddenly pushed open, and a gust of cold wind carrying raindrops rushed in. Everyone's attention was drawn to it, and a man in a black suit walked in with steady steps. His face was stern, and he was carrying a file folder in his hand, with raindrops dripping from the hem of his clothes onto the floor.

"Excuse me, may I bother you?" The man's voice was deep and powerful. He walked straight to Fan Shengmei and handed her the file bag. "Ms. Fan, these are the supporting documents you need. Mr. Meng asked me to deliver them."

Fan Shengmei took the file bag in surprise, a complex mix of emotions welling up inside her. She quickly opened the bag and examined it; inside were various records from her data collection process, communication documents with relevant personnel, and other evidence sufficient to prove the authenticity and reliability of the data.

Wang Qiang's face instantly turned extremely ugly; he hadn't expected such a turn of events. "This... what is this? How can you prove the authenticity of these documents? Maybe you forged them on the spot," Wang Qiang persisted, trying to continue his argument.

Meng Yanchen's assistant gave Wang Qiang a cold look. "Mr. Wang, these documents all have the seals and signatures of the relevant units and personnel, so their authenticity is beyond doubt. Mr. Meng is always meticulous in his work and would not make baseless accusations."

Wang Qiang opened his mouth, but could no longer utter a word; his conspiracy had been completely foiled. At this moment, the conference room fell silent, everyone's gaze shifting between Fan Shengmei, Wang Qiang, and Meng Yanchen's assistant.

Fan Shengmei was filled with gratitude and doubt. She was grateful to Meng Yanchen for helping her at the crucial moment, but puzzled as to how he had known about her predicament so quickly. But at this moment, she couldn't dwell on it. She handed the documents to Wang Qiang, "Mr. Wang, the evidence is now conclusive. Do you have anything else to say?"

Wang Qiang's face was ashen. He glared at Fan Shengmei, stood up, and said, "Meeting adjourned!" He then hurriedly left the meeting room. The other colleagues also stood up and left the meeting room with various expressions, leaving only Fan Shengmei and Meng Yanchen's assistant behind.

"Ms. Fan, Mr. Meng asked me to tell you that he will handle everything, so you don't need to worry." After saying this, Meng Yanchen's assistant turned and left the conference room.

Fan Shengmei watched her assistant's departing figure, her heart filled with mixed emotions. Why had Meng Yanchen learned of Fan Shengmei's predicament in time and stepped in to help? Would Wang Qiang let it go? These questions swirled in her mind.
