Zhu Mian went to look for Zhang Shuang, who played the second female lead. However, Zhang Shuang glanced at Shi Wang and whispered, "Senior Zhu, why don't you rehearse with Senior Shi first? Your parts are not that important."
Zhumian raised his eyelids, and his crescent eyes studied her quietly for a moment. "I have some ideas for our scenes together. I might want to suggest some revisions after rehearsals. We can discuss this in advance. When Professor Lang comes later, we can discuss it directly with him."
Professor Lang, the author of this play and a highly respected professor in the Faculty of Arts, is particularly concerned about its rehearsal because it has never been officially performed.
Zhang Shuang glanced at Shi Wang again and suggested carefully, "But I think our scenes together are pretty good. There's nothing to change."
Her little round face turned a little red with anxiety, and she felt a little embarrassed to see him sleeping.
She never forced anyone to sleep during the day, so she flipped the script back and said, "Okay, then I'll go find the male lead first."
Zhang Shuang breathed a sigh of relief, but then said worriedly, "Senior, your voice is a little hoarse. You don't have to be so formal when reciting your lines like you would in a theater. Just enough for us to hear each other."
Xiaomian said gently: "Okay."
She took a step forward, and Zhang Shuang finally felt relieved when she saw Zhu Mian walking towards Shi Wang.
When Zhumian walked up to Shiwang, Shiwang suddenly said, "Why didn't you line up with me first?"
His tone was very calm, as if he asked casually, and he didn't look at her. He was still writing with a pen in his hand, but the fact that he spoke meant that it was not unintentional.
However, when he said this, the memory that had been dormant for a long time suddenly awakened.
She stood there in a daze for a moment.
In high school, she had asked him something similar, asking if he could rehearse the play next week with her first.
Because there are a lot of scenes between her and Shi Wang, but Shi Wang has never taken the initiative to rehearse with her, but has rehearsed scenes with others.
Seeing that the performance was approaching, she was afraid that she would fail and others would have opinions about her, so she nervously offered him suggestions, hoping that he would agree.
How did he answer then?
He happened to be wearing a white shirt that day, looking very bright and elegant. With his back to the glaring sun, he looked down at her, his tone cold and penetrating: "Why, are you so self-conceited that you want me to respond to you?"
She couldn't believe it for a moment.
If it were any other time, she certainly wouldn't be so surprised.
But that day, she had just searched through all the trash cans and found his grandmother's belongings for him.
She found the brooch he had been desperately searching for.
In order to find the brooch, her arms were scratched and her new clothes were soiled, but she was full of anticipation and joy, hoping that he would be happy.
She had no intention of taking credit for it and asking him to repay her. She didn't even mention her own efforts.
I just asked him nervously if we could rehearse together, but he humiliated me and replied.
Even though more than three years have passed, I still feel suffocated when I think back to that moment.
I also felt sorry for the humble girl at that time, who fell in love with such a rubbish that looked like nothing but gold and jade.
The noise in the rehearsal room brought Zhu Mian back to her senses, and she met Shi Wang's gentle gaze fixed on her.
The next second, her voice rang out indifferently: "Shi Wang, there are so many people here, do I have to queue with you every time?"
The surrounding noise seemed to quiet down in Shi Wang's ears. There was no other noise but her response.
The gentle rhetorical question expressed a statement of rejection.
Shi Wang didn't expect her to respond like this, but even though he didn't know whether she said it casually or meant to express this, Shi Wang's heart sank.
Her eyes were like a deep spring, deadly silent: "That's such a waste of my time."
Shi Wang looked at her with a gloomy mood, but her beautiful face was calm, as if what she had just said was just a casual remark.
Xiaomian lowered his head and flipped through the pages, saying, "You probably don't know that every time I rehearse with you, I even have to prepare myself mentally for a long time."
Her hatred gushed out so lightly.
But to Shi Wang, these words were incoherent. It could be understood that she was unhappy about acting with him, but it could also be understood that she was nervous about acting with him.
He reacted for a moment, subconsciously thinking that she might be talking about the former, but he couldn't find the reason for their unhappiness.
He opened his thin lips slightly and said calmly, "Don't be so nervous next time. We are partners and will have to work together for a long time."
He took the opportunity to find some space for himself to breathe, and guessed that this was what she meant.
Zhumian curled the corners of his lips sarcastically, as if to be perfunctory, but did not answer, which made him feel uneasy.
She flipped the page of the script and began to read the lines directly: "My love for you has nothing to do with anyone else. My hatred for you is caused by you. You don't accept my love and you even look down on me."
She didn't even recite the lines for the first scene, but the lines from the eighth scene onwards. Shi Wang didn't know why she recited the lines for this scene directly, but he still obediently started from here.
I think she needs to rehearse this scene more, so she starts from here.
After a while, a short, fat man with half-gray hair walked into the rehearsal room.
The man happened to see Zhu Mian and Shi Wang acting together, so he stood in the corner and watched for a while, and only came out after they finished rehearsing a scene.
As soon as he came out, Zhu Mian saw him and immediately greeted him respectfully, "Professor Lang."
When Shi Wang turned around, he saw Professor Lang, who had taken a liking to him from the beginning and had chosen him without hesitation.
But Professor Lang's expression at the moment didn't seem admiring; it was rather unfathomable: "Shi Wang, have you always rehearsed like this?"
