Chapter 97 Hallucination

Before the nap was dug out, rustling sounds were heard from above.

She didn't know that she was buried nearly ten meters deep. Gu Qingxu, who was above her, was afraid that the machinery would press on the structure below and cause it to collapse, so he dug her out with his bare hands with blood on his hands, and raced against time with a team of people to dig through the ruins.

There were loud announcements outside warning that the ceasefire time was over and to evacuate the war zone immediately as the border was advancing.

And the sound is getting louder and louder.

She thought it was a hallucination before her death.

Until a strong flashlight beam shone in.

As the stranger's voice rose and fell, it drowned out the warning sound.

"Jesus!" (God)

“She’s here!”

She opened her eyes slightly and saw a familiar face, looking disheveled, his face covered in dust, his eyes slightly red, and his expression as if relieved.

She wanted to open her mouth and call him, but no sound came out. Even her lips were stuck together due to long-term lack of water.

Her body, which was almost stiff from being trapped in the rubble, was picked up by him and carried sideways.

The wind was filled with dust, and loud speakers reminded people that the agreed ceasefire time had exceeded by nearly an hour, and a new round of bombing could begin at any time.

But the person holding her still held her tightly, with no intention of letting go.

Amid the deafening broadcast, she heard the sound of a helicopter, getting closer and louder, until she was carried into the helicopter and finally closed the slit in her eyes completely.

But I kept crying while half asleep and half awake.

In her hazy consciousness, she felt a warm embrace surrounding her, and someone was wiping her body with warm water and wiping her lips with a cotton swab.

It felt as if every bone in her body had been softened with a hot towel, she had been wiped and changed into clean clothes, and the white noise of a burning fireplace was heard around her.

Subconsciously knowing that she was beside Gu Qingxu, she completely relaxed. The sense of security was like a towering tree for her to lean on, and she finally fell into a deep sleep.

Even if it was a dream, dying like this is better than dying in fear.

After an unknown amount of time, she finally woke up, but she didn't see Gu Qingxu. Instead, she saw a slightly older, fat woman wearing an old apron, pouring hot milk tea beside her.

She opened her mouth and found that she could speak. She said in a hoarse voice, "Where's Gu Qingxu?"

The fat woman turned around and it was obvious that she was not Asian in appearance.

She covered her aching neck and gestured while asking, "Where's my boyfriend?"

Where is my boyfriend?

However, the fat woman just frowned and said "Who?"

The fat woman was puzzled. "You were rescued by the Chinese rescue team. I didn't see any boyfriend. You were lying here alone when I got here. I heard that people have hallucinations before they die. Young lady, did you take the hallucinations seriously?"

She felt a chill on her back while sleeping during the day, and the feeling of loneliness and helplessness instantly spread throughout her body, as if she had returned to the dark underground. She didn't even know whether this moment was real or not.

The crackling and popping of the firewood in the tent seemed to suffocate people, and everything was covered with thick smoke.

The happy moments before death, when I was picked up by someone, smelled a familiar smell, saw a familiar face, and fainted with complete peace of mind, all seemed fake.

Gu Qingxu is not here at all, he didn't come at all.

She almost collapsed for a moment, but she just knelt blankly on the simple camp bed.

Like a puppet that has lost its vitality.

It's her fantasy.

At this moment, the curtain of the tent was pulled up, and a tall figure walked in, holding a slightly old iron lunch box in his hand.

The familiar figure fell into Zhumian's sight, and for a moment she thought it was an illusion.

Gu Qingxu walked up to her with the food box.

She almost rolled and crawled to the end of the bed and hugged him. Before Gu Qingxu could say anything, he suddenly heard her burst into tears. That kind of unconcealed and broken cry would never appear on a person who had lost his composure.

Gu Qingxu paused for a moment as he was about to speak.

She wailed and hugged him tightly with her injured arms.

He didn't say anything and was silent for a moment, just letting her hold him like this, reaching out to pat her back gently.

Gu Qingxu's clothes were not clean, and there was even a thin layer of mud on his coat. There was a little blood on his combat pants. She had been digging intensively for nearly an hour, moving concrete fragments and pulling out steel bars. Her body smelled of sweat and dust, and there were bloody wounds on her finger joints. However, Zhuo Min, who always loved cleanliness, did not dislike it at all and hugged him tightly.

She couldn't help crying, and it was a long time before she finally stopped crying. She raised her head, looked at him with red eyes, and the hot tears fell again, sobbing uncontrollably:

"Just now... she said there's no such person as you. I was scared to death."

He looked at her red eyes and said softly, "I just went to get the rescue meal. This grandma came here temporarily to help. She didn't know the situation and thought we were the official rescue team sent by China. Don't cry, I'm here."

She burst into tears, her voice hoarse and choked, completely embarrassed, and she clutched his clothes tightly: "Don't leave."

He didn't move, just stood there: "I'm not leaving."

She couldn't stop crying, tears rolling down her cheeks again: "Gu Qingxu, it's great that you are here."

Gu Qingxu responded, "It's okay. This isn't in Country G's capital. It's 70 kilometers outside the border. There won't be any bombing. Conditions are limited today. We'll leave here tomorrow morning. I've booked the tickets."

"Where are my companions?" She finally realized something was wrong.

Gu Qingxu was extremely calm, his eyes firm and peaceful. "We dug out two people, who were near you, hiding in the same bunker. I paid someone to dig nearby to see if they could dig out more people."

It’s already good enough to dig out two, at least not all of them were wiped out.

Sleeping during the day brings both sorrow and relief for surviving a disaster.

Looking at Gu Qingxu's determined eyes, everything in my heart finally settled down. The feeling of being protected, even though they were still close to the war zone, all the fear was swept away.

Gu Qingxu touched her head and said, "Eat first. You probably haven't eaten for a long time."

The familiar body language, just like in the country, gives me a sense of security.

She suddenly pulled at her clothes and looked up at him: "Who changed my clothes for me?"

Gu Qingxu said calmly: "I changed it."

She still followed him with her eyes, "Have you seen it?"

His bright peach blossom eyes were gentle: "Do you mind?"

She shook her head, her dark eyes fixed on him: "I don't mind."

"That's good." Gu Qingxu pulled a broken chair and sat down beside the bed.

Her voice was still choked with sobs: "Can you come sit on the bed?"

She was frightened and helpless, and only Gu Qingxu was here, giving her a sense of security.

He hesitated: "I'm very dirty."

She shook her head vigorously: "I don't mind."
