Chapter 31 A mysterious person appears

Chapter 31 A mysterious person appears

I guess the person who called must be someone sent by my master to protect me secretly.

Who is he?

I quickly stood up and apologized to Lao Xiao: "A friend wants to see me, please sit down first."

When I got to the hall outside, I looked around and saw a man sitting at a table in the distance, waving at me.

As I got closer, I saw a gentle-looking man in his thirties wearing gold-rimmed glasses. He smiled and said, "Are you Brother Wan? I'm Brother Long."

I nodded and said, "Hello, Brother Long."

"Master was worried that something might happen to you, so he asked me to come and take a look."

Hearing him say this, I finally understood that this man was a well-known ruthless figure in the city's underworld. He looked so gentle and refined. If I didn't know his background, I would have mistaken him for a university professor.

Brother Long said, "This is my business card. Come visit my shop when you have time."

I took it and looked at it: General Manager of the Fengye Hotel. I thought, well, it's the same old story, underground workers always have a job cover. I smiled and said, "Brother Long, please keep me safe."

Brother Long asked, "Are you okay?"

I quickly waved my hands: "No, it's okay."

"If you have something to say, just tell me. We live in a reasonable society now. If you don't know someone, maybe I do. I can tell him and everything will be fine."

I know there is something behind Brother Long’s words, which means: There is no one who doesn’t know me, Brother Long.

Brother Long asked a few questions, and seeing that I was fine, he clasped his fists and said, "If anything happens, just say my name and say you're my cousin. You can walk safely on this street, every road is a Roman road."

He said it calmly, then clasped his hands together and left.

I returned to the private room, and Lao Xiao didn't ask who was looking for me. He just lowered his head and drank alone.

I like to inquire about the affairs of the underworld, so I asked, "What are the rules of the underworld?"

He smiled and said, "Ordinary pickpockets can't be considered gangsters. Real gangs have their own gangs. Our gang is called the Seven Stars Gang, which is divided into four halls: Dragon, Tiger, Lion, and Leopard. I belong to the Dragon's Mouth.

I asked, "Is there any code for contact?"

Old Xiao nodded: "Brothers in the hall have different ranks, and usually they will test each other first. He said: "Wanmi Dandan Wanmian Hua, may I ask what kind of flower it is, sir?"

"Using flowers as a secret code for connection is quite fashionable," I said casually.

"The ranking is determined by the size of the city. Read it backwards. For example, if it's Beijing, it would be called Jingbeihua, Shanghai, Shanghaihua, and Changsha, Shachanghua. Just by reading it, you know your status in the underworld."

I laughed and said, "This life is quite exciting, just like being a secret agent."

He shook his head. "If I do this every day, it won't be exciting anymore. And if I do this kind of thing, I'm always nervous. If I have a heart disease, I won't be able to do it at all."

I laughed and said, "Are you still in the mood?"

He shook his head like a rattle: "I haven't done it for a long time."

I said, "Try it, I like it."

He shook his head: "Don't try anymore."

There's no way to continue the conversation.

He took the initiative to change the subject. He said business wasn't good. There were too many teahouses these days, and his own teahouse didn't have much to offer.

I feel a little sympathy for him.

Unexpectedly, he asked, "How long have you been contracted with this 'Feng Hua Xue Yue'?"

I told him straight out: We haven't signed any formal contract with this store. We'll split the profits 40% to 60%.

He waved his hand as if he saw a ray of light in a black hole:

"Come to my teahouse and I won't charge you a penny. I just ask you to bring some people to it, okay?"

I hesitated, not knowing how to answer him.

He tilted his head back and took another sip of wine, then said in a somewhat depressed tone:

"I have three children. The eldest is the one who came to me for fortune-telling. She only cares about herself. As for the other two, a boy and a girl, I can't let them down, so I'll save money to support them in piano and dance classes, as long as they're interested. Life's not easy, Mr. Wan."

Lao Xiao's words sounded very sad.

I felt more and more sympathetic towards him. But moving to his place would, firstly, offend Yu Meiren, and secondly, it would be too far and inconvenient to travel back and forth. Besides, how could I possibly bring business to a teahouse that wasn't popular? I wasn't a master.

Seeing that I was hesitant, he said, "Why don't you go take a look and give me some advice. Ever since I did the fortune telling that day, I've felt that you are a person with ideas."

He looked at me warmly.

At that moment, to be precise, I was burned, moved, and melted by his ardent and expectant eyes, and suddenly a sense of heroism arose in me, even though I was not sure whether I could help him.

However, I was still interested in his amazing skills, so I said with a smile, "Show me some of your skills, and I'll go see them."

He asked, "Why do you have to show off your kung fu skills? Don't you believe what I just said is true?"

I stared at him blankly and said seriously, "If your magical powers remain unchanged and you can be content with poverty, it means you are truly a good person."

When he heard this, he stood up and asked, "Where is the money you have on you?"

I laughed: "You want someone to tell you where to put your money after you steal it?"

He clarified: "No, I'm estimating how much money you have."

I pointed to the bag on my butt.

He asked, "Are they all one hundred yuan?"

I said, "There are two tens."

He said, "Between seven and eight hundred yuan."

This surprised me a little.

He said, "Come on, let's just pass by each other."

I refused to believe it, so I put my hands in my pockets and walked past him. He asked, "Are you still there?"

I said, "Come and see." Then I took out the money, showed it, put it in, and laughed.

He said, "Touch it again."

Strangely, the money was in his hand. It turned out that the moment I put it in my trouser pocket and relaxed, he took the money away.

I was stunned and kept saying, "Great, really great. When I have time, I will help you check out the teahouse."

Lao Xiao said, "It's a deal."

I sent Lao Xiao to the door of the teahouse and found that he was driving an old, broken car.

The sun was setting, its setting sun a blood-red hue, and the sunlight shone on the car, making it look even more desolate. To make matters worse, he tried to start the car several times, but it wouldn't start.

He stuck his head out sheepishly: "You go first."

I drove back home and sat in my room smoking. I thought: How can I help Lao Xiao?

Give him some money? I'm not rich either.

The only thing I can do is to go and see if I can give him any good ideas.

However, this is just my wishful thinking.
