Chapter 234 (End) On duty...
The chaotic telecommunications storm forced the police, who had already retreated far away, to try to salvage the situation. As an electronic being, the anti-fraud agent was inevitably caught up in it, turning into a jumble of garbled code and static, unable to respond.
As a vision sharer, Morofushi Kagemitsu was also rendered unable to think by a dizzying headache. He tried to adapt to the pain and carefully discern his surroundings. After realizing that the seemingly chaotic electrical sounds from the Anti-Fraud King actually had a pattern, he forced himself to memorize them.
Only then did he realize that this was very likely two Morse code messages:
[. -. - . .-.]
Enter
[..--- ...-- ....-]
234……
He adapted to the intensity of the headache and, based on these two brief messages, quickly understood what the anti-fraud expert wanted to convey to him.
Simply destroying the place won't end it all. He needs to enter the secret room and use some method that Number 234 once revealed to completely extinguish the last glimmer of hope for time reversal.
He had done so much for this goal, so of course he wouldn't let this last-minute chaos ruin everything. He immediately struggled into the villa despite his physical discomfort.
He stepped over the bizarrely dead corpses along the way, as if stepping over his own fallen self. A sudden surge of electricity in his mind and uncontrollable red code in his vision blocked his steps, preventing him from getting close to that mysterious hell that would affect the world.
Morofushi Kagemitsu slowed his pace. He had never faced such a rapid torrent of telecommunications. If he hadn't been used to interacting with Anti-Fraud King in his mind and shared the vision of electronic beings, his head would probably have been overwhelmed by the information overload by now.
If the previous side effects were like a "curse," this obstacle is more like "resentment."
A corpse that looked like it was about to turn into a zombie tripped him up, almost making him lose his balance. Perhaps he was too weak to keep going, so he leaned against a low wall to recover his strength.
He watched as the lawn he usually took such good care of was mercilessly trampled, and suddenly remembered the famous scene he had once witnessed, which the anti-fraud team had named "Gin ambushing a high school student with a club." He subconsciously reached into his inner shirt pocket, where the antidote he had brought with him to put Zero at ease was.
Wait... what are the effects of this medicine again?
His vision was becoming blurry, and a sharp, piercing pain was disrupting his thoughts...
'...It can improve thinking ability and also relieve pain.'
Didn't No. 198 say that before?
Remembering the key words about the medicine, he stopped worrying about whether it was the exact wording. With a determined heart, he took out the antidote and swallowed it dryly.
As it turns out, No. 198 is indeed quite skilled in biomedicine. Although he may talk a bit intimidatingly, he has never made a mistake in judging the efficacy of drugs.
He felt much better within seconds of taking the antidote.
He had no time to savor the feeling of his body returning to normal, nor did he have the mind to investigate why the antidote for APTX4869 could work at this moment. He simply ran quickly toward the secret room in the garden's artificial hill, determined to end this dire situation.
He quickly found the entrance to the secret chamber, and swiftly entered the long string of passwords he had jotted down. While waiting for the mechanism to activate, he watched as the crushed beetle corpse in the soil swelled up again, as if time had reversed and it had regained its former vitality.
This is bad! Is this a sign of an impending catastrophe?
Zhu Fujingguang's heart skipped a beat, and he hurried deeper into the secret chamber.
The moment he stepped into the secret room, the anti-fraud system, or rather, the anti-fraud app, in his mind finally stirred:
[Fate energy detected, being decomposed and processed...]
[Reverse time energy detected, analyzing...]
[Attack confirmed]
[Reverse energy is disrupting the core code and restarting the program...]
[Reverse energy is disrupting the core code, reboot failed...]
[Rebooting again...]
The anti-fraud app kept restarting, fighting against the reverse energy, while the energy reserves of the computing center were being rapidly depleted.
As Morofushi Kagemitsu ventured deeper into the area, he silently calculated that at this rate of consumption, the Anti-Fraud Lords probably wouldn't last much longer. He decided it was best to act immediately upon seeing the device that activated time reversal, without a moment's delay.
He ran a few steps forward, only to be blocked by an invisible wall that had appeared out of nowhere. The familiar scene immediately reminded him of how Number 234 had dealt with the spatial barrier at Nagano Station.
He took out a flashlight, and the image of the energy tank left to him by Number 234 appeared in his mind. Before he could figure out how to control it with his mind, the flashlight in his hand emitted a different beam of light than usual, burning a hole in the air wall in front of him.
He paused for only a moment before continuing forward.
The path leading to the depths of the secret chamber shouldn't have been so long, yet he still couldn't see the end.
There was more than one invisible wall. Every time he destroyed a wall, he saw details of his time travels. The memories played in reverse order brought back many details and regrets. Every time he burned through a wall, he felt as if a hot current was surging in his blood, about to burn him up, but then a cool sensation suppressed it.
And so, he overcame one obstacle after another, the only light source in his hand paving the way for his birth, just as No. 234 had accompanied him when he walked through that silent, dead space-time rift.
When his memories reached the shrine in Hokkaido, a long staircase appeared before him, leading to the same shrine with the exact same layout, even including a locust tree.
Karasuma Renya, holding a wooden stick, knelt before a huge, slightly trembling hourglass, as if drawing in the vibrant life force to nourish the heavy deathly aura within him.
Zhu Fujingguang ran over, and many death illusions, as if dug out from the illusion space, appeared on the steps. Some people died because of him, while others were dragged down by the fluctuations of fate and died.
As I passed by these visions of death, a voice seemed to rise within me again, as if saying:
'They could have done it all over again.'
He didn't stop, stepping over the Ragdoll cat illusion number 234, and raised his flashlight to shine on the huge hourglass.
The inconspicuous white flames eroded the hourglass itself, and the accumulated energy rapidly dissipated, causing the hourglass, which had already tilted slightly, to turn back around.
At the moment when it had burned out completely, the hourglass finally turned to stone.
The system malfunctions and hallucinations that kept flooding his mind suddenly stopped, and the surroundings became as quiet as a normal locked room should be.
He looked around, stunned for a moment by the sudden end of everything.
Is all of this... over?
He subconsciously asked the anti-fraud expert in his mind, but this time no one could answer him.
'We can't avoid that day coming...'
Number 234 had already foreshadowed their fate.
But, but... when the moment actually arrived, no matter how resolute his figure had been as he had passed by number 234, he could not avoid this belated heartache.
He took out the diamond-shaped amulet he always carried with him, his gaze instinctively drifting towards the shrine-like place. He didn't find what he was looking for, but unexpectedly spotted a familiar-looking wooden doll.
Perhaps it's not so much that it looks familiar; this puppet on the small table is just similar in style.
He put on gloves, turned the lying puppet over, and sure enough, there was a birth date and time pasted on the back. He calculated according to the birth date and time, but felt that something was wrong. He then went back another 60 years and found that the birth date seemed to be somewhat similar to Karasuma Renya's birthday.
Ah... I forgot, the biggest feudal superstitious leader in the organization is this old Deng.
Morofushi Kagemitsu glanced back at Karasuma Renya, who was still kneeling as if petrified, and recited a "spell" that No. 66 had once given him. In front of the old man, he used the largest candle in the "shrine" to burn the puppet.
"Clatter".
At this moment, Karasuma Renya's hands trembled, and the skewer in his hand fell to the ground.
Morobuchi Kagemitsu leaned closer to take a look and saw four characters engraved on it:
My wish has been fulfilled.
He was taken aback, and finally took a closer look at the culprit that had caused so much suffering to countless people.
Karasuma Renya was still alive, kneeling on the mat, but unable to move. His venomous eyes were fixed on the person who had shattered his pipe dream. He tried to speak as if he had suffered a stroke, but all that came out were muffled breaths. Unable to control his bodily reactions, saliva dripped from the corners of his mouth.
Zhu Fujingguang watched coldly and called the police who had been waiting outside for a long time. Presumably, this old man who always valued his dignity wouldn't mind being seen in this state by a group of young and strong police officers.
Look, Karasuma Daiko is so excited his hands are shaking! He must be thanking me.
No need for formalities, this is what I should do as a police officer.
After provoking Karasuma Renya, Morofushi Kagemitsu, still unwilling to give up, started fiddling with his phone, trying to activate the unresponsive "Undercover Anti-Fraud App" on the desktop.
However, even as the police approached the secret room, the broken phone still didn't respond.
Where did that determination to wake me up go?!
Seeing that his police colleagues were about to arrive, he had no choice but to put his phone down for the time being, planning to bother Matsuda and Hagiwara later, hoping that a more scientific method could help him find them.
He calmed himself down, estimated the police's speed, and surveyed the surroundings to make sure there was nothing in the vicinity that was beyond the comprehension of normal people. Only then did he let Zero and Shuichi Akai know that he was safe (it was better for both of them to ignore the chaos at the FBI's side).
Finally, he picked up the stick, took off his own lucky charm, and hung it on the locust tree that was full of wooden sticks that said "wishes will be fulfilled".
Sigh... It's always best to be cautious when entangled with fate. Faced with such a bizarre and twisted wish trap, how could he dare to make a wish like "Let the Anti-Fraud King return"?
Number 234 is right. I shouldn't have been so stubborn, or I would have repeated the same mistake.
Come to think of it, I had clearly hinted at it when it came to that billion-dollar financial trap, but greed always blinds people.
Therefore, the wish was ultimately fulfilled in the most distorted form.
"Buzz—Buzz—"
— THE END —

Author's note: Jingguang's novel has finally come to an end! [Sprinkling flowers][Sprinkling flowers][Sprinkling flowers]!
I originally only planned to write 300,000 to 400,000 words, but I couldn't stop. Now I've finally given Jingguang an ending, and I'm going to take a break for a while. [Milk tea][Milk tea][Milk tea]
The next book will probably be in about two months (next year). I haven't decided yet whether to write an original story or continue writing Jingguang's book. However, there will still be side stories for this book, but I won't be able to update daily anymore. You can save them up and read them in advance.
Thank you all for your support over the past few months, love you all! [heart][heart][heart]
P.S. There will be a giveaway on November 6th, everyone is welcome to participate!
