Chapter 78 It’s Over (2/2)

"I was so angry at you that I went to the river to relax."

"Your grandfather bought a personal accident insurance policy from Ronghua Insurance, and the beneficiary was changed from your aunt to you three months ago."

Xia Zheng said word by word with conviction: "Once your pocket money was withheld, you became murderous and wanted to cause Grandpa to have an accident so that you could get the compensation from his personal accident insurance."

"You were familiar with the walking route along the river where the deceased was, so you took the opportunity to push him into the water."

Two police officers stepped forward and arrested Li Yan.

"Let me go, how could I possibly kill my grandpa!!"

Li Yan struggled fiercely: "It wasn't me who did it. You can't arrest me, I have something else to do!"

"If I don't go, everyone's efforts will be wasted!"

Xia Zheng interrupted coldly: "You have a life on your shoulders, how can you care about other things?"

He's just a small-time gangster, and the people he interacts with are all kinds of people. How important can he be?

"etc!"

Ji Shuyun suddenly spoke up, pointing his finger at the mud on the riverbank: "Wait, there's something wrong with the mud around the body."

He squatted down, his fingertips hovering above several clear drag marks: "Normally when the tide goes out, the water will carry everything downhill."

"But the mud around the deceased's body showed signs of being dragged upwards."

"He was dumped here by someone. This is not something that one person could have accomplished."

"It's more likely that the perpetrator used a boat and threw the body from it. The body swelled up once it was dragged into the water."

"Right now, this is just speculation. But the man I've arrested now has physical evidence and a motive."

Xia Zheng narrowed his eyes and looked at him: "Since Officer Ji has his own ideas, please continue your investigation."

The two police officers who were escorting Li Yan waved, "I'm going to interrogate you now."

"Within 24 hours of interrogation, I will make him confess everything."

Xia Zheng took the people away.

Xia Zhining and Ji Shuyun stayed where they were, looking at each other.

Xia Zhining frowned and tugged at Ji Shuyun's sleeve: "Brother, it's not dark yet, what should we do next?"

Ji Shuyun narrowed his eyes and looked off into the distance: "Let's go to the dance practice place that the crowd mentioned and check to see if Li Yan is present."

Twenty minutes later, the two stood in front of an abandoned factory.

A faded slogan "Safe Production" is still left on the mottled wall, and the iron gate has long been rusted.

Before I got close, I heard deafening music and the sound of the floor scraping against each other coming from inside.

Pushing open the creaking iron gate, I saw five or six young men with dyed yellow hair practicing street dance in the open space.

The music suddenly stopped, and everyone turned around and stared warily at the police uniform that suddenly appeared.

Xia Zhining quickly said, "Don't panic, we're just here to ask about the situation."

Xia Zhining recounted the story of Li Yan being arrested.

The little yellow-haired guy in the lead slapped his thigh suddenly, his expression changing instantly: "Damn it, we're screwed now!"

He spun around twice, clutching the phone, his voice trembling with anxiety: "How could he kill someone? He's such a lonely man!"

The little yellow-haired boy hurriedly asked the two of them, "Can Brother Yan be released before tomorrow afternoon?"
