Chapter 205 Wild Boar

"Auntie?" Even though it was summer, the temperature in the mountains was much lower than usual. Although An'an was wearing a thin jacket that Aunt Tian had given her before she left, she still felt a bit chilly sitting on the tree branch.

"Our aunt is here, let's wait a little longer."

An'an clung to a tree trunk like a koala, with several ropes wrapped around her. Her bottom hurt a little as she sat on the trunk, and she couldn't help but want to move.

In addition, the environment was exceptionally quiet, with only darkness and the faint sound of the wind.

Lu Ronghui held her hand, knowing that An'an was about to reach her limit, and could only comfort her repeatedly.

Aunt Tian was both nervous and distressed. Little did she know that she had only acted on a whim, thinking of taking An'an for a walk in the mountains and then coming down, but she never expected to encounter wild boars.

Now they can only stay in the tree. It's already amazing that such a small child has managed to stay up this long without crying.

"An'an, hang in there a little longer. We'll go down when your uncle comes back."

The moonlight was bright, but the forest was full of trees, and as far as the eye could see, it was still dark.

After an unknown amount of time, the urgent cries of wild beasts suddenly came from afar. Aunt Tian knew that it was the sound of wild boars.

An'an bit her lip and clung tightly to the tree trunk, so Lu Ronghui could only try to get as close to her as possible.

Aunt Tian couldn't care less about An'an at this moment. She held her breath and listened carefully to the wild boars' cries. She only breathed a sigh of relief when she realized that they were not approaching.

The wild boar's urgent cries continued for a while before suddenly subsiding.

"mom?"

They still dared not move, worried about Liu Jiandong's situation, until they heard his voice.

"Did you win?"

"We got her." Liu Jiandong's voice was still filled with excitement. Aunt Tian was overjoyed and quickly climbed down the tree. Soon, An'an was also carried down.

"Uncle?" An'an was terrified and clung to Liu Jiandong's neck, refusing to let go, so he simply hugged her.

The smell of blood in the mountains could easily attract wild animals, so they had to get down the mountain as soon as possible. Liu Jiandong led them there.

"Injured?"

"It's nothing, I just fell and my clothes are dirty."

"Were your father and brother injured?"

"They should all be abrasions, nothing serious."

Liu Jianqiu and his group acted quickly; by the time Aunt Tian and her group arrived, the pig's two hind legs had already been removed.

"Hiss!" Aunt Tian gasped, surprised that they had actually hunted a wild boar. They had only brought a knife up the mountain, not a hunting rifle.

"I don't know which village this trap belongs to, it must be quite old. If we hadn't come over, this wild boar would have escaped in a while."

Fortunately, the trap caught the wild boar's front legs, which allowed them to catch it in such a short time.

Time was of the essence, so Aunt Tian and the other two were responsible for cutting the pig into appropriate sizes. Lu Ronghui and Liu Jiandong packed the unloaded meat into baskets, and even lined them with wild grass to prevent others from seeing it.

An'an didn't dare to look and stood with her back to them.

"Alright, alright, let's hurry down the mountain."

The smell of blood was extremely strong here. Aunt Tian's husband used a sickle to dig up some soil to cover it up, and everyone immediately headed down the mountain.

As they approached the village entrance, Liu Jianqiu and his father each carried two pig legs and slipped home first.

Aunt Tian and Liu Jiandong carried heavy baskets on their backs, while Lu Ronghui led An'an, avoiding the village dogs like thieves. Fortunately, they did not encounter anyone along the way.

An'an was initially cold and sleepy, but as everyone else got excited, she sat on the kang (a heated brick bed) and watched them bring in the pork.

Aunt Tian patted her chest, feeling like she had survived a disaster and made a fortune at the same time. A wild boar, that was quite a boar!

"How should we prepare this meat?"

All three men, father and sons, had injuries of varying degrees. Aunt Tian saw that they were not seriously injured and that it was nothing compared to the pig, so she didn't ask them any further questions.

"I'll take some to sell tomorrow."

Meat that doesn't require a ticket, or even wild boar meat, is incredibly sought after and sells like hotcakes.

"It's too hot, and we can't eat all of this, so we'll sell some."

The family wasn't really in dire need of money, so while she was considering selling the items, she was also thinking about keeping the best ones.

This time I was lucky. Next time I want to eat it, I'll have to buy it. I might as well keep more.

Lu Yang finished his mission, but when he returned home, he found the front door locked from the inside.

They're back?

"elder brother?"

Lu Ronghui carefully opened the gate to let him in, then quickly closed it again. An'an was also squatting in the yard with a mysterious look on her face, while Lu Yang looked on with suspicion.

"What's wrong?"

These two looked like they'd done something wrong and were afraid of being discovered.

An'an took her father's hand and led him to the kitchen. She lifted the basket of wild vegetables on his back, revealing dozens of kilograms of meat underneath.

Lu Yang gasped, almost doubting that he had seen wrong.

Where did it come from?

His salary and invoices for this month won't be paid until tomorrow. The three of them have been eating vegetarian food for several days. Suddenly, a huge amount of meat appeared. Lu Yang thought he was dreaming.

He would have to save up tickets for a year to buy so much meat.

“We happened to see a wild boar that had run into a trap on the mountain last night. Uncle Liu and the others caught it and then carried it down the mountain in sections.”

Lu Ronghui recounted what they had experienced the previous night, and An'an stood proudly to the side, waiting for her father to praise her.

Although she didn't do anything, An'an felt that she was also a part of this matter.

"Lu Suian, what are you doing up the mountain in the middle of the night?"

Lu Yang was still shaken after hearing this. If it weren't for the fact that there were more of them, and if the wild boar hadn't been trapped in the snare, it would have been incredibly dangerous if they had run into it.

This was the first time An'an had ever seen her father so angry. After being scolded, she honestly admitted her mistake and said she shouldn't have been so willful as to pester her uncle to go up the mountain in the middle of the night.
