Chapter 208 When did Factory Director Wei leave?

The group of people in the office looked at each other in shock. This was a big deal. They had been working on it for months, and everything was arranged in an orderly manner. At this point, the exam papers had simply disappeared.

The reason I came here today was to record the results; the list will be announced in a couple of days.

The military region leaders were very concerned about this matter and planned to hold a commendation meeting for the responsible persons, but then the accident happened.

"Factory manager, are you sure you're not mistaken? It wasn't placed here."

Although Shen Chunjiao knew in her heart that it was impossible, she put the sealed test papers into the cabinet yesterday in the presence of several people, but she still sent someone to check the office of the daily necessities factory.

"Should we have the military region come and investigate?"

Shen Chunjiao was still hesitating when Director Zhang thought for a moment and went outside to find the security personnel who were on duty last night.

"No one came over last night?"

"No, Director Zhang, I've been sitting here all night." The security guard was also very uneasy. Although they hadn't said anything, he had a feeling something serious had happened. "Director Zhang, has something been stolen?"

Something really was lost. This exam paper was important only relative to their factory; to others, it was just a stack of waste paper.

"What time did Director Wei leave last night?"

"Huh? Last night was around the same time as usual when I got off work. Director Wei's family was celebrating their child's birthday, so she went home to be with her child."

Director Zhang looked grave. The factory area has not yet been officially put into use; currently, only the main gate is open for normal access.

The security personnel said last night that no one had entered or left the factory, and the factory manager's office still had a door and windows. They didn't find anything unusual when they came. It's impossible that the exam paper just disappeared into thin air.

Director Zhang suspected that Wei Lan's suspicions stemmed not from past grievances between the two, but from the fact that Wei Lan had indeed requested Shen Chunjiao to be solely responsible for the city's portion of the exam papers.

The missing exam papers were a huge problem for everyone in the factory. Shen Chunjiao hesitated for a moment about whether to alert the military region leaders because she was afraid of being held accountable, as she was the primary person in charge.

If Wei Lan truly had ulterior motives, then the disappearance of the exam paper would actually be a good thing for her.

"Why is Director Zhang so concerned about what time I got home yesterday?"

Wei Lan arrived at some unknown time and looked at Director Zhang with a puzzled expression.

"No, it's just that our Factory Director Wei always arrives the earliest, why is he so late today?"

Director Zhang observed Wei Lan discreetly and found that her expression was calm and she showed no sign of panic.

"It was my child's birthday yesterday, and he kept pestering me to take him to school today, so I'm a little late." After she finished speaking, she walked straight in and went directly to Shen Chunjiao's office.

The atmosphere in the office was tense. The people who went to the daily necessities factory had returned, but the exam papers were not there.

This matter is of great importance, and none of them can take responsibility. They can only anxiously look to Director Shen.

"Why is everyone here?" Wei Lan looked relaxed but puzzled as she looked at them.

"Deputy Factory Director Wei, what do you want?"

Shen Chunjiao forced herself to look at Wei Lan, wondering what she had come over for.

"I came here to ask about the admission list. After all, Director Shen is in charge of this matter, so as the deputy director, I have to keep an eye on it."

Wei Lan wasn't entirely sure at first, but when she saw them all there, their expressions betraying their worry despite their attempts to appear composed, she knew things were settled.

Shen Chunjiao hesitated whether to tell Wei Lan. She had already sent someone to the military region to ask for instructions from the leaders, but Wei Lan would still find out eventually.

Er Ya has found a routine in taking care of her younger brother recently. He drinks milk before going to bed every night and wakes up in the middle of the night to ask for milk again.

My mother doesn't have enough milk, so she usually feeds me formula and rice cereal before bed, and then breastfeeds me in the middle of the night.

However, when Zhou Lian was preparing for her exams recently, she didn't have enough breast milk, so she had to feed her formula even in the middle of the night.

She had thought she would only need to take care of him for a few hours today, but her younger brother was still in her room until bedtime, so Er Ya had to get up in the middle of the night to make him formula.

There weren't enough rooms at home. After putting two bunk beds in the room they were staying in, there was no room left. Originally, Xiao Wu and Xiao Liu slept with their parents.

However, later, in order for Er Ya to take care of her younger brother, a small crib was specially built here and tucked into the only available corner.

"Sister?" The two boys sleeping on the bunk bed next door were not awakened by the baby's movements. Only Sanya heard her little brother's voice and peeked out.

Er Ya felt extremely annoyed as she listened to her younger brother's annoying crying in the darkness.

She wanted nothing more than to kick the crib outside.

The little brother's cries were very loud, but there was no sound at all from the next room. Er Ya felt very wronged.

Why is it always her who gets up to make formula for her younger brother? It's one thing for her mother to be silent, but her younger brother is already several months old, and her father has never come to take care of him in the middle of the night.

Er Ya thought bitterly, "Is taking care of the child the mother's responsibility? If the mother doesn't take care of the child, then I, the daughter, have to. Anyway, it has nothing to do with the men in the family."

She lay on the bed wrapped in a quilt for a long time without turning over, letting her little brother wail loudly. Sanya slowly climbed down from the bunk bed and skillfully poured water from the thermos to make him milk powder.

Hot water poured into the milk powder quickly released its sweet aroma. Sanya swallowed hard. The milk powder was for her younger brother. Before he was born, there was very little milk powder or malted milk powder at home. Even if there was, it was for her older brother and younger brother, not for her and her older sister.

Sometimes when Mom is in a good mood, she'll pour a little more hot water into their empty cups for them to drink.

Sanya knows her older sister works hard. After school, she not only helps with laundry but also takes care of her younger brother, so she is very skilled at making formula.

On the other side, Tie Dan and Si Dan, who were in the bunk bed, were finally woken up. They impatiently covered their heads with the blankets and muttered a few words.

"It's so noisy, he's crying and you're not even trying to comfort him."

Despite their words, they never got up.

Sanya quickly prepared the formula, and finally her little brother stopped crying after drinking the milk. She patted his tummy, knowing he was still a child and shouldn't be blamed, but she and her sister were really tired.

It would be great if Dad and the older brother could take care of the younger brother together.

Er Ya suddenly sat up, glanced at San Ya, walked to the place where the milk powder was kept, took out a spoon, scooped out several spoonfuls of milk powder, and made a cup.

Sanya stared in disbelief as her sister downed half a cup in one gulp. "Here you go."

"……I"

Sanya was very scared. She cautiously glanced at her older and younger brothers on the other side of the bunk bed. Fortunately, they had fallen asleep again.

She dared not drink it. She knew that all the family's money was used to buy milk powder. Her younger brother had suffered when he was born, and the doctor said that he needed to be fed with milk powder, so her mother had to spend a lot of money to buy milk powder.

And they were not allowed to touch it at all.

Er Ya ignored her and shoved the cup into San Ya's hand, saying, "If you don't drink it, I'll die if they see me."

Sanya had no choice but to drink all the remaining milk.

It smells so good that she later added some hot water to the cup.
