"dad?"
Song Qing heard her daughter's voice on the other end of the phone and knew what Lu Yang wanted to say.
"Me too."
Lu Yang's lips, which had been slightly pursed, suddenly parted again. He understood Song Qing's words; she was thinking of him too, and she knew he was thinking of her.
Song Qing heard his breathing suddenly become heavy and coughed twice.
"Alright, alright, it's almost time. I'm hanging up now. An'an, listen to your dad. You all wait for me to come home."
"Bye Bye Mom"
An'an hugged his father's neck and leaned close to the phone. Knowing that his mother would hang up soon, he quickly said goodbye to her.
The whole process took less than two minutes, and Lu Yang handed two yuan to the office staff.
The man took the money and looked at the father and son with some curiosity. Normally, people make phone calls to say something very important, otherwise who would waste more than a dollar on phone calls?
He stood there and listened to the whole thing; the father and daughter didn't say a word.
They were too young and didn't know how to manage their money. They wasted two yuan, which could have bought two pounds of meat.
Lu Yang didn't notice the complicated look in his eyes. After hanging up the phone, he carried An'an out.
The father and daughter walked in the moonlight, their smiles exactly the same.
"Dad, when is Mom coming back? I miss her so much."
"Soon."
An'an missed her mother, but was also happy to hear her voice on the phone. She didn't know how much the phone call would cost.
Lu Yang was also willing to spend two yuan to hear his wife's voice on the phone.
After hanging up the phone, Song Qing received a look from the doorman that left him speechless.
"Unless it's something urgent, it's more worthwhile to write a letter."
Song Qing was both amused and exasperated. The other end of the phone charged more than a dollar per minute, while the other end charged 50 cents for simply connecting to the phone.
She also felt it wasn't worth it, but the father and daughter insisted, and she couldn't persuade them otherwise.
"No more fighting."
She handed over 50 cents and decided to send a few more letters home so they wouldn't call anymore.
It costs 2.5 yuan each time, and it hurts to even think about it.

"Mom, time to eat."
Wang Minggui bought three sleeper berths. Tiedan slept with Xiaowu, Erya and Sanya took care of Xiaosi, and she held the youngest child by herself.
The train attendants were surprised to see her traveling alone with six children; they wondered how long she had been swaying in their carriage.
Zhou Lian held her child and stared blankly out the window.
Wang Minggui gave her all his money, but she had no interest in preparing meals for the children and gave the money to Er Ya instead.
Er Ya took the money to buy food from the flight attendant. She saw her mother leaning against the seat for a long time without saying a word, so she quietly approached her with the lunchbox.
"I don't want to eat."
These children seemed to have matured overnight. When they came by train before, they were noisy and disruptive in the carriage, but now they are all sitting in their sleeper berths without saying a word.
Er Ya wanted to persuade her but didn't dare, so she could only put the food away first.
It's not uncommon for children to get lost on trains these days. Some people even deliberately take the train to other cities and then lose their children there, just so their families can save a little rice.
The train attendant was both afraid that Zhou Lian would lose her child and afraid that she would lose her child, so he would come over from time to time to count them.
Although they came discreetly, after a few times, she understood their intentions. Zhou Lian found it somewhat amusing that even outsiders cared about these children.
But Wang Minggui, the father, seemed relieved after buying the tickets for them.
Isn't he afraid that something might happen to the mother and her children on the train?
