"Sister Guan, I brought you some things."
Before Guan Lian could figure out how to thank Song Qing, Song Qing had already mysteriously called her aside and pulled a package out of her coat.
"Last time we went to the mountains to pick vegetables, there were quite a few rabbits and pheasants, but unfortunately we couldn't catch them. Here is a preserved rabbit. It'll be especially delicious if we take it home and stew it with some dried vegetables."
"No, I can't have it."
This is a rabbit, and it's winter now. Where can you find one to eat? Guan Lian didn't want it, so Song Qing just pulled her away and stuffed it into her hand.
"Consider it a gift for my nephew. Tell him it was brought to him by his aunt."
Song Qing found the unfamiliar address somewhat amusing, especially when Chen Junliang lowered his head and called her "Auntie." This child was about the same height as Liu Jiandong, and was more than half a head taller than her.
"I……"
"Take it, I have other things to do."
She needed to go to other workshops, and besides, everyone was at work, so it wouldn't look good for them to be arguing like this. Song Qing quickly put her hands in her pockets and walked away.
Guan Lian could only put the things away. She decided to treat them to a good meal these next couple of days, but she was also worried about what to give them in return.
A few days later, the factory got busy again. Soon it was time for everyone to pick up their goods at the department store with their tickets. Director Zhang finally managed to find a tailor to get all the goods ready.
“This can’t go on forever. It’s winter now, and we can find plenty of people to help make clothes. But when spring comes and it’s busy with farming, who will have time? And we don’t have many tailors in our factory.”
Before this batch of goods went through a standardized ironing process, Song Qing helped organize them on the side.
“Once we've built up our reputation, we can then simply produce fabric and sell it to other department stores, who will then find their own tailors.”
"Once we recruit enough people to set up a garment factory, we can start selling ready-made clothes."
"Forget it, let's just take it one step at a time. If we really can't make it in time for spring, we won't order so many."
Taking advantage of the fact that no one was around, Director Zhang went over.
"I thought Liu Jun wouldn't listen to you, but it seems I was right about you."
Song Qing chuckled, "Director Zhang, you're exaggerating."
Director Zhang smiled and shook her head. She wasn't exaggerating. She and the factory director had recruited him together, so she naturally knew him well. Liu Jun was indeed talented, but he was arrogant and older.
Many people originally wanted him to be the head of the technical department. Even with Director Zhang, Song Qing's chances of winning were slim. Fortunately, she proved herself and led her team to develop fabric No. 8, which is now the best-selling fabric in the factory.
They had previously been working together in the research workshop, and it was clear that there were subtle signs of rivalry between them.
Director Zhang was also worried that with Liu Jun around, Song Qing's future management would definitely be difficult.
Song Qing only said one sentence: "Really, no." She really hadn't paid much attention to Liu Jun. She didn't act like a superior to a subordinate in front of him. She would call on him when there was work to do, but they didn't interact much when there wasn't. On the contrary, they got along quite well.
However, she felt that it was a good move for her to transfer Shen Xuebing away.
"By the way, Guan Lian brought her eldest son over a few days ago?"
Song Qing nodded. Director Zhang knew a little about Guan Lian's situation, sighed, and said no more.
When it was time to leave work, Song Qing didn't leave immediately. Instead, she stood at the entrance of the textile factory and finally saw her daughter, who had been wandering around for many days, skipping and hopping towards her, holding her uncle's hand.
"Mother!"
She had been having a great time at Aunt Tian's house these past few days and hadn't seen her mother for several days. She missed her so much that she let go of Liu Jiandong's hand and ran over.
The snow on the ground hadn't been shoveled clean, and after being trampled on, it turned into ice. She slipped and fell on the ice like a dumpling, and Song Qing and Liu Jiandong quickly helped her up.
An'an was dressed warmly and wasn't injured at all; she just stared wide-eyed, somewhat confused.
Song Qing tried to hold back but eventually couldn't help laughing, and Liu Jiandong laughed as well.
"Mother"
An'an looked aggrieved; her mother didn't even ask her if she was in pain, but instead laughed at her.
Guan Lian was just about to take her son to the village to exchange some things when she saw the scene in front of her, and her eyes immediately crinkled with laughter.
An'an puffed out her cheeks and put her hands back in her arms, not letting her mother pull her.
"Aunt"
Chen Junliang called out to Song Qing, and Song Qing nodded to him. An An looked up at her brother with curiosity. Like her mother, she was someone who judged by appearance. Chen Junliang was handsome, and his eyebrows were a little red from the cold.
"Mother?"
She was no longer awkward and immediately rushed to her mother's side, staring curiously at the older brother.
“This is your Aunt Guan’s eldest son. You can call him brother. Her name is An’an.”
This little girl has never been shy, and when she saw such a handsome older brother, she tilted her head and walked over to him.
After a while, she shyly called out, "Brother!"
Liu Jiandong gritted his teeth. He had finally realized that this girl was someone who cared a lot about looks.
The last time, the guy who climbed the tree to pick walnuts was also because he was handsome, so she kept clinging to him. This one is the same.
Liu Jiandong started school late and is also 16 years old this year, the same age as Chen Junliang.
Chen Junliang smiled, reached out and pinched her hat, "An'an."
"Sister Guan, are you going to the village or the mountain?"
"In the village"
"That's perfect, Jiandong, you take them there."
It was quite a coincidence that Jian Dong had just brought An An back today. Song Qing walked up to Liu Jian Dong and took out a sweet potato and a bunch of walnuts and hazelnuts from her pocket.
The sweet potato was given to her by Master Liu. Song Qing only managed to get it out close to the end of her shift, and it's still warm.
Liu Jiandong didn't want it, but Song Qing stuffed it directly into his pocket.
"We can't let An'an see this, otherwise she'll want to eat it again. We don't need to pick her up these next few days; let her attend the orphanage for a few days."
Everyone else has to go to work, but she lives a leisurely life.
Liu Jiandong patted his pocket and led Guan Lian and her son toward the village. An'an even glanced after the handsome older brother's back.
"Gone"
"Mom, this older brother is the same as that little boy from last time."
They are brothers.
No wonder they all look good. "Where's Dad?"
She chased after her mother again, and Song Qing smiled as she finally thought of her old father, Lu Yang, who had been talking about her a lot at home these past few days.
Guan Lian was chatting with Liu Jiandong when he took something out of his pocket and handed it to her. Guan Lian took one, and then he handed it to Chen Junliang.
"Need not"
Despite being the same age, they only said this one sentence the whole way.
Guan Lian shook her head, wondering why the child was becoming increasingly quiet.
