Chapter 337 A Momentary Misunderstanding

Guan Lian pulled her youngest son away in an instant. The remaining people in the security office watched Chen Wei warily, as if they would not let him off the hook if he chased after him.

When Chen Wei reached the door and turned around, this was the scene he saw: everyone inside looked on with suspicion.

Director Zhang coughed and cleared his throat. "You see, our conditions aren't good, there's no guesthouse for you to stay in..."

Chen Wei ignored him and turned to leave.

Aunt Tian: "He usually just washes his hands of things, but now that his child is gone, he suddenly gets anxious. Is he really in such a hurry to give money?"

After hurling several insults, Director Zhang waved for Song Qing to return to work.

"All we can do is try to stop him, but it's not good for him to keep loitering at our factory gate."

Chen Junsheng stumbled several steps in the snow as his mother pulled him along. "Mom!"

This was the first time he had ever seen his mother look so serious; even when he divorced his father, it hadn't frightened him this much.

Guan Lian was furious; how could his few calls of "Mom" possibly quell her anger? Her mind was filled with the hateful faces of Chen Wei and his mother.

After slapping his younger brother, Chen Junliang sat at the table in a daze. It took him a long time to react. He was worried that his father would not take the train back, so he got up and decided to go to the village to check on him.

"Woo woo woo"

The mother used tremendous force, gripping Chen Junsheng so tightly that he couldn't shake her off, and it hurt even through his cotton-padded clothes.

He felt a burning pain on his face and in his hands. Feeling wronged, he couldn't hold back his tears when he got downstairs. Guan Lian paused for a moment and then pulled him back upstairs.

"mom?"

When Chen Junliang saw his mother, who should have been working at the factory, his heart skipped a beat. Then, when he saw his younger brother being held by her hand, his heart jumped.

Only after entering the house did Guan Lian ask in a low voice about the slap mark on her youngest son's face.

"What happened?"

She was fine before going to work; although she was angry just now, she didn't slap him.

Although Chen Junsheng felt wronged that his brother had hit him, he wasn't stupid. He could tell from his mother's attitude towards his father that if his mother knew that he was the one who had revealed it, he would be in deep trouble.

Forget about crying for a moment, she quickly lowered her head and dared not look at them.

"Mom, did you see it?"

If his mother only noticed the mark on his younger brother's face after returning home, then it wasn't because of that incident that she was angry. There was only one reason, Chen Junliang said in a low voice.

Guan Lian's mind was in a mess, filled with all sorts of thoughts.

How did you know I saw your dad?

If she hadn't trusted her eldest son's character, she would have suspected that he had leaked the address, since only her eldest son knew about it, besides her parents and the leader who helped her.

Chen Junliang clenched his fists and stared intently at his younger brother, who kept his head down and dared not look at anyone. His tone was colder than ever before. "...I saw him last night."

Suddenly, all the odd things made sense. She said that her eldest son was quite happy before he left yesterday, but he had been spacing out and in a bad mood since he came back. It turned out that he had seen him.

How did he know that?

Guan Lian put down her youngest son's hand and walked to the table to sit down. Chen Junsheng no longer dared to lower his head and pretend to be dead. He raised his head and looked at his brother with pleading eyes.

Taking advantage of Guan Lian's lowered head in thought, Chen Junliang quickly shook his head to tell his brother not to speak. Chen Junliang clenched his fists, but in the end, he still didn't say a word.

His heart was in constant turmoil, torn between the younger brother in front of him and the younger brother who had always followed him around since childhood. In the end, he softened.

Perhaps he was just confused for a moment. He's only 8 years old. It's normal for him to feel anxious here, having left his familiar environment. It's okay to make a mistake, as long as he doesn't repeat it.

After asking that question, Guan Lian didn't look at them. She thought about it for a long time but couldn't figure out what went wrong. Finally, she sighed.

"...They probably asked around at the factory."

After saying that, he stood up. "How did you get the injury on your face?"

"I……"

“He was dawdling when he left home this morning. I wanted him to hurry up, so I tried to pull him away, but I accidentally slapped him instead.”

After listening, Guan Lian nodded for a while. It must have been unexpected. Her eldest son had never hit her, let alone slapped her directly.

She continued to gaze intently at her youngest son, taking it as a momentary misunderstanding of what he had just said.

"We will live here from now on; this is our home!"

Chen Junsheng didn't dare to refute her and just lowered his head without looking at her. Guan Lian thought he understood and softened her tone.

"You don't need to go to school today. Let your brother boil an egg for you to put on your face. I'll ask your teacher for leave for you later."

After saying that, she went back to work. She needed to find a way to get Chen Wei to leave as soon as possible; she would feel nauseous as long as he was there.
